Role Purpose
As a Trustee, you will share collective responsibility for the governance and strategic leadership of Focus Birmingham. In your specialist capacity, you will:

Key Responsibilities
General Trustee Duties
As a member of the Board, all trustees are expected to:
- Ensure Focus Birmingham complies with its governing documents, charity law, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain proper oversight of strategic objectives, financial performance, and risk management
- Uphold the charity’s values and ensure ethical governance and decision-making
- Provide constructive support and challenge to the senior leadership team
- Act in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries at all times
- Attend quarterly Board meetings and participate in additional committee work or strategic sessions as appropriate
Digital Marketing-Specific Duties
As the Digital Marketing Trustee, your responsibilities will also include:
- Advising on the development and implementation of a digital marketing and communications strategy to raise awareness of the charity’s services, campaigns, and fundraising efforts
- Supporting the charity to grow and diversify its online presence through effective use of website content, social media, email campaigns, video, SEO, and online advertising
- Helping evaluate the effectiveness of digital channels using analytics and audience insights, and suggesting improvements based on performance data

- Promoting good practice in digital storytelling reflects the experiences of our service users in an ethical and empowering way

Person Specification

Essential Criteria
- Substantial experience in digital marketing, digital communications, or online engagement, ideally in a senior or strategic role
- Strong understanding of digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media, CMS, email marketing, SEO, PPC, Google Analytics, and CRM systems
- Strategic thinker with a clear grasp of audience targeting, digital content planning, and user experience (UX)

Role Summary.
To bring our vision to life, we are looking for a dedicated person to play a vital role in managing and strengthening our relationships with partner organisations (such as university Islamic Societies), with a focus on marketing and growth. You will work closely with external partners to increase the number of students attending Roots workshops through creative and innovative methods.

About Sanata Charitable Trust
The Sanata Charitable Trust is a registered charity and consists of two Trusts, one based in the United Kingdom, the other in Gilgil, Kenya. The purpose of the UK Trust is to generate funds for the development and ongoing costs of the Restart Africa Children’s Centre.
Restart Africa children’s home was established in 2008 in response to the desperate needs of street children in Gilgil who are at serious risk of violence, abuse and starvation. Starting with 6 children, the centre has expanded over the years to a purpose-built home that currently has nearly 100 children in its care. Receiving no government funding, the centre is fully reliant on donations and sponsorship to finance operations. For the children in its care, Restart Africa fosters a loving, safe home, with meals, welfare and education, enabling them to enjoy their childhood and the opportunity to fulfil their potential. When it is time for the young adults to leave the permanent care of Restart, they are equipped with a qualification in their chosen field that will enable them to rejoin Kenyan society and build a success future for themselves. In conjunction with the life-changing benefits Restart Africa creates for those in its care, it also supports the local community by providing a range of employment opportunities in a safe and respectful working environment.
About the Role
The Marketing/Fundraising lead trustee role is being developed as part of our strategy to raise the profile of Restart Africa and diversify donation streams to ensure we grow sustainable financial foundations to underpin the amazing work of the Restart Africa centre.
In addition to this Trustee role, we are also in the process of investing in a Marketing and Communications Executive which is a full time, permanent role based onsite at the Restart Africa centre. The purpose of the role is to generate and publish emotionally engaging, authentic content that meets the needs of the varying stakeholder groups in a timely manner.
Main Trustee responsibilities:

Our mission is to facilitate alms and donations collection and distribution to help the elderly and people with disabilities who work in the informal sector to get better livelihood through micro-business management, giving them greater market exposure.
Currently, we are still redesigning ZAKKI fully function product. We are expecting to develop the ZAKKI fully function product in the upcoming years.
ZAKKI is a non-profit foundation, and all ZAKKI teams and volunteers do not receive a salary. In return, the volunteer can enlist their contribution as part of ZAKKI as their portfolio during executing the project and upon the project completion. About Alopecia UK
Founded in 2004, we work to help adults, young people and children affected by alopecia. This includes those with alopecia, as well as their loved ones. We are a small charity, with an annual income under £500,000, working nationally across the UK. Despite being small, we are the largest alopecia charity in the UK and have big ambitions to continue our growth and development, reaching more people than ever before. We agreed a new strategy in May 2025, and are committed to our key goal, which is to increase our reach, particularly in the communities that haven’t yet found us.
We have a fantastic and dedicated staff team (5.4 FTE) and board of Trustees. We also rely upon the generosity of volunteers, many of whom have personal experience of alopecia themselves. Alopecia UK receives no statutory funding from the government and is funded by community fundraising, donations, funding grants, and corporate partnerships.
Alopecia UK Trustee Board
The Alopecia UK Trustee Board are a group of dedicated volunteers who are committed to Alopecia’s aims.
The Trustee Board meets four times a year (two face-to-face meetings and two virtual meetings). Face-to-face meetings tend to be held on Saturdays from approximately 10am-4pm. Virtual meetings tend to be held midweek from approximately 6.30-8.30pm.
Trustees are encouraged to participate in charity campaigns and attend flagship events, e.g., our Big Weekend and Alton Towers trip. Trustees are not paid, but out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed. Trustees serve at least three years
