Job description

Families Need Fathers – because both parents matter (FNF), founded in 1974, Families Need Fathers is a shared parenting charity that support family members to prevent loss of relationships with a child through the process of family separation.  The charity carries out a unique role and essential function in addressing and balancing recognised harms that occur within separating families and as a result of organised systems that govern the process of family separation.

FNF provide support to manage challenging emotions and guidance to navigate complex family justice structures during what will normally be a tense and unsettling time for most individuals experiencing shifting dynamics.

There is very specific and highly valued expertise that has been developed and grown across the FNF network in response to these challenges. Interventions provided from within the service have been developed over decades, are unique, and have been described as a lifeline to those in the greatest crises.

The service has significant potential to make a profound difference to its direct beneficiaries in the short-term, and wider society in the long-term, through capturing the impact of the current status of family justice interventions and working across organisations to promote positive change where it is so desperately needed.

We plan to expand our services and resources. The charity currently relies on a small staff and many volunteers. The Director of Operations will define, implement and direct the day to day operational aspects of the charity ensuring that all of the charity’s systems & processes are aligned to external and internal priorities, and that the operation of the charity is organised, efficient and effective.
