ABOUT THE ROLE
RISE is now seeking a full-time Fundraising Manager to help deliver its fundraising strategy. RISE has a mixed funding model and receives funding from the private sector, philanthropic and corporate foundations, bilateral agencies, and potentially, multilateral institutions. This role will play a pivotal role in executing the fundraising strategy, focusing on proposal development, donor engagement, and day-to-day delivery of fundraising activities.
We are looking for a hands-on, results-driven team member who can turn ideas into actionable proposals, manage multiple workstreams, and follow through to completion. The successful candidate will share RISE’s commitment to advancing equality for women workers in global supply chains and will help scale our impact through sustained, year-on-year income growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of a highly matrixed team, effective collaboration across other team functions and particularly with in-country teams and program managers will be critical to success. The Fundraising Manager will report to the Associate Director, Partnerships.
The role includes the following specific responsibilities. These may evolve as priorities are established:
Proposal and Concept Development
- Translate RISE’s strategy into compelling and fundable project proposals and concept notes.
- Lead the day-to-day coordination of proposal development, including drafting project narratives, developing logical frameworks or theories of change, and ensuring alignment with donor requirements.
- Lead or coordinate the preparation of proposal budgets in collaboration with finance colleagues.
- Develop and maintain high-quality fundraising and communication materials.
- Work with the wider RISE team to maintain an active and healthy grant pipeline.
Donor Engagement
- Support the expansion of RISE’s donor base by identifying and pursuing new prospects, particularly among philanthropic foundations, corporate foundations, and bilateral donors.
- Maintain regular communication with current and potential donors, ensuring they are informed and engaged in RISE’s work.
- Support donor outreach and pitch preparation, working closely with RISE leadership and subject matter experts.
- Keep the team informed with up-to-date donor intelligence and funding opportunities.
Fundraising Planning and Coordination
- Implement and operationalize the fundraising and partnership strategy, ensuring effective follow-through on agreed priorities and activities through clear annual workplans developed in collaboration with the Associate Director, Partnerships.
- Contribute insights and lessons learned from day-to-day implementation to inform periodic strategy reviews and planning discussions.
- Drive operational excellence by ensuring systems, tools, and processes for fundraising are efficient and up to date.
EXPERIENCE
- 8–10 years of relevant professional experience, including successful track record in developing and winning grants.
- Proven ability to translate strategic direction into actionable plans and high-quality deliverables.
- Strong writing skills, with experience developing concepts, proposals, and budgets for complex, multi-year projects.
- Good understanding of gender equality, women’s economic empowerment and the private sector’s role in achieving the SDGs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of international donor trends and existing networks across foundations, corporate donors, and governments.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across diverse teams and cultures.
- Fluent in English (other languages an asset).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital collaboration tools.

About the role
This new Lead role sits within the Design Council Programmes Team led by the Chief Design Officer and has responsibility for leading the development and embedding of our funding strategy. Coordinating income generation of ~£2m per year including securing £250k of philanthropic (T&Fs, corporates, other sources) funding in the first year, the role also has the objective of growing overall revenue but in line with the refreshed Design Council business and funding model to ensure it remains strategically aligned and sustainable.
Reporting to the Head of Programmes with a dotted line to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for oversight of the overall revenue pipeline, working across the organisation to have full line of sight of funding opportunities and partnerships and ensure a consistent approach to how we generate revenue.
You will drive an effective stakeholder engagement plan, working closely with the Communications team to ensure campaigns and events help build and maintain a strong network of funder relationships and strengthening our profile as a charity.
The scope covers directly securing philanthropic/corporate partner funding as well as supporting wider commercial income generation and also ensuring they are all anchored in our Theory of Change and enable long term income growth.
Our core programmes of work support delivery of our Theory of Change encompassing Skills, Capability, Innovation and Research. We are looking to create and grow funding partnerships through a variety of activities including events, learning and training and world leading research, and the Fundraising and Partnerships Lead will play a critical role in developing funding relationships, securing them, both directly and also supporting the wider team.
Key Responsibilties
1. New Funding Generation and Planning

Lead the identification of new revenue opportunities across the range of Design Council propositions with the objective of growing total revenue base, in line with the Design Council funding strategy and business model

Overall accountability for converting philanthropic (T&Fs, corporate sponsorship etc) opportunities into secured new partnership funding and supporting on conversion of funding partnerships for other commercial (paid project) work

Working closely with Chief Design Office, Head of Programmes and in particularly the Programme Leads to ensure each area of work (Skills, Capability, Innovation and Research) has an appropriate funding plan including a roadmap for future development

Support Programme Leads, Head of Communications and CDO in identifying opportunities to commercialise core propositions and other DC assets in line with our Design for Planet ethos and market-making approach

Overall owner of marketing and other funding collateral to support Programme Leads in growing revenue from their respective propositions as well as new promotion of Design Council for potential new funders and other partners, and working with the Communications team to develop and maintain it
2. Partner Cultivation and Stewardship

Personally build and maintain relationships with existing partners ensuring consistent engagement and communication

3. Grant and Commercial Proposal Development & Bid Writing

4. Event Planning and Execution

Who we're looking for
We are looking for a driven, self-motivated and hands-on individual, with a track record of securing funding from a range of sources and growing revenue in a national not-for-profit or commercial organisation.
You will be ambitious for Design Council’s aspiration of reaching £8m revenue by 2031 and be able to demonstrate commercial acumen and experience of developing revenue generation strategies and converting opportunities into secured income.
You will also know that fundraising is challenging and competitive, so you will be resilient and experienced in building the relationships that can secures six-figure+ multi-year income. Therefore you need to be brilliant at building external networks, joining the dots and seeing opportunities to connect people and ideas for the benefit of organisational strategy.
You must also be excellent at building and nurturing relationships, with a wide range of external stakeholders, and also effectively collaborate internally across the organisation.
You are a natural salesperson, able to identify opportunities and have compelling conversations that lead to partnerships and revenue.
This is a growing role with lots of moving parts, so we’re looking for a someone who is flexible and adaptable, who proactively identifies challenges and opportunities.
You are passionate about our Design for Planet and Green Design Skills missions and demonstrate an ability to think strategically as well as commercially and work collaboratively.
Skills & Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience fundraising / revenue generation in a commercial or not-for-profit sector organisation
- Experience working with high-net-worth individuals or foundations
- Ability to create fundraising strategies and help execute them
- Grant / bid writing experience for both grants and commercial tenders
- Ideally have an existing network of potential funders / partners, and confident in use of events and marketing to drive interest and engagement

Over the last five years we have increased the number of individuals and organisation supporting the charity from 800 to more than 3,500 a year. The charity is set to build on this success and aims to continue this growth, so that we can reach more patients and provide additional support at a time when it is more critical than ever for kidney patients.
The Corporate Partnership Manager will play a key role in this growth. Our Corporate Partnership income has grown from zero in 2020 to c£2.3 million in 2025. It is a very exciting time to be joining the charity and our Fundraising team.
Primarily, you will be responsible for building engagement and driving new income via charity of the year partnerships, corporate partnerships, and employee fundraising. You will manage the Corporate Partnership Officer who is developing a growing portfolio of supporters across different sectors. You will also work closely with the Events Manager, Trust & Foundation Manager, Head of Fundraising and Director of Fundraising, Marketing & Communications as well as the wider Fundraising team to promote and support all opportunities to drive corporate income growth.
Alongside the Director of Fundraising, Marketing & Communications who takes a special interest in the charity’s Corporate Partnerships, you will be tasked with planning, implementing, and delivering the activities, programmes and processes required to grow corporate income from c£2.3m in 2025 to even greater levels over the coming years.
You will do this by stewarding the significant number of existing relationships and partnerships we already hold and maximising any opportunities that exist via our current partnerships and relationships. A key part of this role will require you to develop new opportunities and secure significant income (5-and-6 figure partnerships) through proactive engagement to and through our supporters, beneficiaries, networks, and contacts.
The right candidate will have a proven record of generating strategic partnerships that result in 5-and 6-figure corporate income, building strong and rewarding relationships, with stewardships skills that generate long term support for the charity. You will be a driven and enthusiastic fundraiser with experience of cultivating new relationships across a range of businesses and sectors.

About this key role
Our successful candidate will contribute to and implement a three-year Corporate Fundraising Strategy with ambition to raise £1million annually, this will include managing a Corporate Partnership Assistant and implementing effective processes, data management and procedures across the team. The Supporter-led Fundraising (SLF) Department at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) is responsible for mass fundraising, enabling individuals, communities and companies to support ARUK through their own talents and passions. As well as driving registrations and income through third party, virtual and mass participation events and managing these relationships to maximise income.
The Online Fundraising Team is key to the success of SLF as they work across Regional, Sporting Events, Marketing and Corporate teams to drive a future focussed department, exploring new technologies, audiences and opportunities for ARUK, testing the potential of these and advising other teams on how to capitalise on these.
The role of Online Fundraising Manager will work with the Senior Central Fundraising Manager to identify the strategy for the team, lead fundraising campaigns, and develop new propositions and ways of working for the team, department and wider organisation. This role will line manage two Online Fundraising Team Officers and one Online Fundraising Executive to support SLF in delivering our strategy and meet our departmental annual income target.

Key Responsibilities:
Line Management
· Recruitment, induction, training and ongoing line management of the Online Fundraising Team (OFT); providing direction and support to drive their success to ensure a highly motivated team, equipped to deliver the operational plan and support in reaching SLF’s targets.
· Conduct monthly one-to-ones, quarterly reviews and annual appraisals to ensure high performance and development within the team.

· Lead the Facebook Challenge strategy and translate this for all stakeholders. Bringing all relevant teams together to ensure the Challenges are reaching the right audiences, supporters are stewarded appropriately, and the opportunities of these events are maximised.

· Develop and oversee strategies for crypto and streaming fundraising, identifying opportunities within Web3 communities and streaming ecosystems.
· Ownership of relationship with external agencies, holding regular check ins and ensuring the skill levels across the team of third-party systems.
· Monitor trends, campaign performance, and supporter behaviour to inform strategy adjustments and post-event improvements.

Team Management
· Attend relevant sector-wide meetings to understand latest trends to inform strategy and direction of team.
· Undertake evaluation of income area, considering contribution, ROI and long-term potential.
· Stay abreast of competitor activity, particularly in designated areas, to inform strategy.
· Develop a full understanding of ARUK systems including data, finance and compliance in order to support the team in creating well informed processes and use of systems.

You will have a proven track record in fundraising, particularly within corporate and individual giving, and be confident managing communications and donor engagement activities that inspire and retain supporters. Working closely with the Director, the Senior Management Team, Trustees and the Fundraising and Communications Committee, you will lead on building and maintaining fundraising relationships, implementing a robust stewardship cycle, and enhancing ROW’s profile across England and Wales.
Your role will benefit from our current collaboration with an external communications agency, which focuses primarily on media engagement and broader publicity, providing support to amplify ROW’s profile. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to lead on fundraising-related communications, taking ownership of donor-facing content, including our regular newsletter, supporter updates, and campaign materials. This will involve producing engaging, creative, and mission-aligned content that informs, inspires, and strengthens relationships with supporters, while ensuring consistency with ROW’s values, tone and objectives.

Role Background

The Marketing Manager will work within a small and talented staff team at Remember A Charity to expand its reach, grow its network and build engagement among its key audiences: charities, professional advisers and the giving public. The priorities for the Marketing Manager are to develop and deliver a marketing and communications plan in line with the campaign strategy.

Job Description
Job purpose: To lead and develop Remember A Charity’s marketing and communications programme, in line with our core mission of making legacy giving a social norm. This core focus of the role is on growing and engaging our audiences across the charity sector (members and non-members) and professional adviser communities (solicitors, Will-writers, wealth advisers).
The Marketing Manager will also contribute to the development of our consumer PR, marketing and digital programmes, led by the Director and Digital Communications Manager respectively.
This role would suit a confident and creative individual who is enthused by the opportunity of helping charities across the UK to grow and develop their long-term income. The successful candidate will work closely with the campaign’s members, professional advisers and, of course, colleagues within Remember A Charity and the wider CIOF.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of marketing activities targeting charity sector and professional adviser audiences, aligned with organisational strategy and KPIs.
- Develop and deliver communications for charity members and Campaign Supporters.
- Collaborate with internal colleagues and external agencies to support the execution of consumer-facing marketing and PR campaigns.
- Create compelling assets and resources to support recruitment, engagement, and retention of members and professional partners.
- Ensure external communications and creative outputs are consistent with the Remember A Charity brand.
- Represent the organisation, exhibiting and/or presenting at relevant events or meetings.
Responsibilities by area:
Charity sector
- Creation of promotional assets to support member acquisition and retention.
- Plan and deliver a dynamic member comms programme, including e-bulletins, impact reports and others.
- Help colleagues to coordinate and present at select member events.
- Manage sector-facing social media accounts (LinkedIn, X, and Bluesky).
- Support the Director with sector-facing editorial content.
- Gather and showcase member testimonials and case studies.
- Develop and promote guidance and resources to help members maximise their legacy fundraising.
- Enhance and develop the members’ area of the website, ensuring content is up to date and relevant.
Professional Advisers
- Responsibility for the marketing budget for professional advisers.
- Planning and delivery of marketing activity to grow our professional adviser network and maximise our impact, in line with our KPIs.
- Manage and grow the Campaign Supporter scheme for solicitors and Will-writers, delivering engaging communications and digital content that keeps charitable giving front of mind.
- Promote the importance of referencing the charitable option during Will-writing to professional advisers through events, direct marketing, social media, and advertising.
- Coordinate the campaign’s Legal Sector Advisory Group, organising quarterly meetings and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to engage wider professional audiences and influential groups within and beyond the legal sector, including but not limited to, wealth managers, Will-writing software providers, local government, regulatory and trade bodies (e.g. CILEX, CLC, NALP).
- Collaborate with CPD content providers to deliver training programmes on charitable Will-writing.
- Coordinate quarterly webinars for professional advisers on relevant Will-writing topics, working with internal and external partners.
- Create materials and promotional assets for professional advisers and campaign partners to equip them to advocate for legacies.
Consumers
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of consumer marketing and PR activity.
- Support members in making best use of the consumer-facing assets provided for them to use during Remember A Charity Week and beyond.
- Equip Campaign Supporters and Will-writing partners with resources to promote legacy giving during Remember A Charity Week and beyond.
All
- Collaborate with the team to review campaign activity and success measures against KPIs.
- Maintain and update website content for charity and professional adviser audiences.
- Uphold brand consistency across all external communications and creative outputs.
About You
Experience & Skills
- Experience of planning and delivering successful marketing programmes.
- Knowledge of the UK charity sector and/or legal market.
- Experience working in a customer-facing environment or dealing with a wide range of members and stakeholders.
- Effective presentation and networking skills.
- Familiarity updating webpages and using simple web-based design / delivery tools such as Canva and Mailchimp.
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) and experience of using a CRM system,
- Budget management preferable but not essential
