It is an exciting time to join Alzheimer's Society and the Group Facilitator role will ensure people affected by dementia are able to meet others in a similar situation, access the support they need whilst enjoying meaningful and often exciting activities. 
 
Salary: £22789 - £24177 per annum (pro rata for 21 hours)
Hours: 21 per week

About the role

Our local groups are Memory Cafes in Bovey Tracey and Kingsbridge and Singing for the Brain groups in Exmouth and Dawlish, as well as an online Peer Support group. Several groups are well established, but others require developing and promoting to reach a wider number of people. The successful candidate will be managing a supportive and experienced team of dedicated volunteers and managing our relationship with our Singing facilitators.

- To setup, promote, establish, organise and facilitate or deliver group(s) and ensure that all attending are supported to fully engage in the session. 
- To recruit and role manage volunteers that the volunteers have clarity about their roles and undertake appropriate training. 
- To be receptive to the views and feedback of service users during development of the group and when seeking to plan, develop and design future groups, taking into account the individual needs of members of the group 
- To assist the service users to feel welcome and to understand the aims and benefit of the group(s), and ensure all new attendees are provided with information about the group 
- Proactively support an inclusive and welcoming working environment where all colleagues and volunteers and people we support feel able to be themselves. 

About you

We are looking for a compassionate, supportive person with a good understanding of dementia and how it impacts both the person with the diagnosis and the carer. Our role requires excellent communication skills to engage people in group activities, ensuring the person with dementia can fully participate as well as the carer.

- Understanding the importance of volunteers in group services is essential, plus the ability to role manage volunteers to support them in their role.
- Good knowledge of dementia and an understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their carers
- Experience of co-ordinating volunteers
- Have excellent computer skills are required to facilitate virtual groups, and to complete accurate records on the computer system.
- Have the ability to travel independently to the locations the service covers.

About this key role

As a Settling in Facilitator, you will be embedded within a prison-based setting and provide a quality service to people first entering prison. We will count on you to prepare, plan, and deliver the emotional resilience interactive sessions to individuals in prison, ensuring all sessions are appropriate and contextualised to reflect the local needs of the prison and its changing population and utilising expertise around lived experience and local knowledge to empower people in prison.

You will also be expected to deliver additional tailored sessions to individuals who are unable to attend the group sessions or require additional support and to use a trauma-informed approach to build trust and create a safe space for people in prison to explore challenging and potentially traumatic issues and topics.

What we are looking for

• Personal experience of the social care system; criminal justice system; or lived experience of the issues facing this client group. However, we also encourage applications from those without lived experience.

• The ability to build positive relationships with people in prison and be comfortable and confident working in the prison environment.

• A professionally competent approach and confidence facilitating group sessions, as well as being able to tailor the support given to meet the needs of people in prison. 

• An invested interest in supporting people in prison to develop healthy coping strategies.

• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, verbal and written.

Job Purpose: The project aims to deliver a range of trauma-informed learning and development opportunities to women impacted by the criminal justice system. Delivered in our Manchester and Trafford women’s centres, these gender responsive activities, co-produced with women with lived experience, will provide personal and practical skill development that meets their needs and supports their aspirations around employment or education, including a focus on wellbeing and practical learning.

Key Responsibility Areas

1. Co-ordinate and deliver a schedule of trauma informed and gender responsive workshops that aim to address wellbeing and reduce barriers women impacted by the CJS face in accessing employment or education opportunities.
2. Maintain case management systems to ensure accurate and timely data recording.
3. Develop and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders, such as lived experience groups, education, training and employment networks and local services.
4. Create opportunities for women impacted by the criminal justice system to input into the programme, such as co-production, and peer supporters

The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for managing and co-ordinating FearFree’ Volunteers, including supervision and coaching of volunteers.

Volunteers are essential to FearFree services both support service roles and non-support service roles such as admin and fundraising. Volunteers will be within the following roles:

· Helpline Support: Responsible for logging referrals and triaging cases, ensuring initial safety advice is given and the service user is directed to the most appropriate service, as well as responding to professional enquiries.

· Facilitating and Co-facilitating Group Work Programmes: This will include facilitating peer support groups and being second facilitator for group work programmes providing support to victims/survivors of domestic abuse, those who have experienced sexual violence and group programmes for perpetrator groups supporting those who wish to change their behaviour.

· Befriending Services: offering support to individuals who have experienced domestic abuse or sexual violence and are still impacted by the trauma of their experiences, providing support and encouragement to enable service users to create independent and fulfilling lives.

· Admin support: Supporting with our admin support teams such as HR support, finance support, covering reception and other tasks as required.

The Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with the Volunteer Manager, Head of Fundraising and other Volunteer Coordinators in other FearFree localities.

FearFree is committed to hybrid working and this role will be a mix of home based and office based, alongside requiring travel for meetings. Travel across Devon is required and occasional travel to our other offices may be required.

Main Responsibilities and Tasks

Recruitment and training of volunteers

· Participating in the recruitment of volunteers in both service user facing roles and support roles. This will include advertising for roles, interviewing perspective volunteers and supporting with HR processes.

· Planning and delivering thorough training for all volunteers, dependent on the role they will be completing.

· Ensuring each volunteer continues to develop in their role.

· Liaise with Service Managers and Team Managers to identify roles where volunteers could be utilised.

Service delivery and management of volunteers

· Providing line management support and supervision to volunteers.

· Be point of contact for volunteers to raise concerns and discuss cases.

· Ensure the delivery of a high quality, responsive service to people who have experience domestic abuse and/or sexual violence.

· Manage volunteers to ensure service users individual issues and needs are clearly identified and plans meet these needs including matching volunteers with clients.

· Manage the quality assurance of support given by volunteers including safeguarding and compliance with all relevant legislation and best practice guidance.

· Network with other agencies in order to maintain effective communication and joint working for the benefit of service users.

· Promote the rights, equality, diversity and needs of service users by ensuring they are respected and valued as individuals.

· Produce stories and case studies to support the promotion of the service and to evidence the impact of the service.

· Engage with our Marketing and Fundraising Manager to support with coordinating events and to encourage wider team engagement and support.

Other

· Providing written reports and information as required, including information which can be used for the promotion of the organisation and to deliver key messages regarding the experiences of our service users.

· Undertake role relevant training to maintain knowledge, keep up to date with legislation, information and best practice relating to domestic abuse, sexual violence and other related work to maintain Continued Professional Development.

· Attend team meetings, monthly supervision and participate in organisational data collection as required.

· Contribute to effective team working with a flexible and pro-active approach.

· Work within organisational policies and procedures at all times.

· Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the services work in and recognise the needs and concerns of a diverse range of service users ensuring the service is accessible to all.

Role Purpose

The Community Engagement Manager (Maternity Cover) role will be a critical piece of our Community Programmes team, which provides support to founders at every stage of their startup journey. The Community Programme offering includes a roster of events including panels, masterclasses and workshops, as well as mentoring and coaching opportunities, and peer-to-peer engagement opportunities. As the Community Engagement Manager, you’ll work directly with the Co-Head of Programmes to ensure the systems we need are in place to support the team to deliver their support offering and that we are constantly learning and evolving our programme offering from Founder feedback and engagement.

Graduate Community Engagement

• Maintain the community engagement strategy for enhanced engagement between founders and a more cohesive founder journey across all stages

• Supporting the collection and collation of feedback from volunteers, mentors and founders in order to monitor and improve participant experience
• Working with the Fundraising team to report on Community Programme KPIs, anecdotal feedback, and to support with the generation of case studies, for funder reports and fundraising pitches
• Collecting and analysing relevant data for the resources webpage, graduate community platform, as well as keeping up to date with any relevant tech updates and training required for monitoring the data

Other 

• Gaining and maintaining in-depth knowledge and understanding of Hatch’s work, priorities and future plans and acting as a spokesperson for the charity when required
• Representing Hatch externally at speaking  and networking opportunities

We are now looking for an experienced and innovative individual to support the engagement and outreach of our Young Women’s Service.

The successful candidate will be experienced in developing and delivering creative Gender Based Violence (GBV) prevention programs and confident to successfully engage young women in a wide range of settings including schools, colleges, youth programs & pupil referral units to raise awareness, challenge and positively influence the attitudes and behaviours that normalise GBV in this peer group. You will receive training on delivering GBV Resilience Programs that build psychological and emotional resilience in young people (YP) to strengthen protective factors to promote positive mental and emotional well-being in YP. You will co-produce and deliver training and awareness raising work for professionals, including first responders and managers in GBV related services / mental health provisions, educational centres and non-abusing family members and carers to facilitate appropriate response towards YP at risk. 

About you

You will therefore be skilled in nurturing and developing YP voices and active engagement within such forums. You will be skilled at working alongside young women with an acute awareness of how to successfully co-create and co-deliver training packages to professionals and the wider community, thus centralising YP as the leaders and change agents in the project.

Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our literacy programme at HMP The Verne, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.

About LMK

Good relationships shape our health and happiness, yet we are taught so little about them. LMK is a registered education charity on a mission to change that. We run workshops educating young people about healthy and unhealthy behaviours, so that they can avoid abuse and thrive in relationships. 

Using film and guided discussions, our workshop leaders support children and young people in honest conversations about relationships and leave them better equipped to spot the early warning signs of abuse and inspire them to enjoy healthy, fulfilling relationships.  We explore the 10 signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships and include practical lessons young people want to learn about (like consent) and practice scenarios in a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment. 

LMK is a learning organisation and prides itself in supporting leaders to develop their skills. We offer training and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunities, as well as peer-to-peer learning and reflective practice sessions.

Job Description 

LMK is looking for passionate and organised educators (LMK Leaders) to run community workshops, aimed at young people aged between 11 and 24. Through engaging, relatable, workshops you will help young people identify signs of healthy and unhealthy relationship behaviours, provide strategies for them to recognise the early warning signs of abuse and give them tools to keep themselves and their friends safe. 

The minimum hours required per workshop is 3 hrs. This includes arriving 30 minutes before delivery, 1.5 to 2 hrs delivery and then remaining back 10 minutes and being accessible to young people who would like further information or a one-to-one conversation, surrounding the subject of relationships.

There is also 30 minutes admin, which is usually completed off-site, such as inputting student surveys and a Leader survey.

 

Responsibilities 

• Always adhere to LMK and partner safeguarding practices and procedures.

• Respond to comms (emails/WhatsApp) sent out by LMK core team members, in a timely manner, to support planning and organising of sessions.

• Meet with co-facilitators to carry out pre-session planning, minimum two working days before delivery.

• Plan and deliver interactive LMK workshops in educational, sports and community settings in line with LMK delivery style and ethos.

• Use your experience and knowledge of the issues affecting young people to tailor the workshops accordingly. 

• Ensure all youth participants and the adults in school/community organisations who attend a LMK workshop complete the post session feedback surveys.

• Complete reflective post session Leader surveys to support practice and programme development, after each workshop.

• Debrief with LMK’s Programme Manager and provide ongoing feedback about your sessions, through LMK’s reflective practice processes.

• Undertake relevant training associated with LMK’s work including but not restricted to child protection, safeguarding, violence against women and girls (VAWG).

• Continue to learn about and develop your skills on the issues affecting young people’s relationships including domestic violence, abuse, adverse childhood experiences, trauma informed practice, gang culture and grooming, mental health, sexual exploitation, consent, sharing of nudes /sexting, bullying in person and online, tech and online safety, pornography.

• Provide feedback and co-design training and educational resources on issues affecting young people and their relationships, including opportunities to share your knowledge and expertise at peer-to-peer learning sessions.

• Attend termly virtual Leader huddles to remain connected to peers and organisational values, mission, and purpose.

• Contribute towards and keep up to date with LMK internal/external communications platforms, such as LMK Newsletters and social media.

• Engage with LMK’s Youth Advisory Board Members, if and when invited to do so.

• Lead by example and promote healthy relationship behaviours in your own lives/communities and within LMK (team player; acknowledging and working with diversity; being receptive to new ideas and developmental feedback, etc)

• Use your own networks to recruit new schools and youth groups into the programme.

• Drive forward our evaluation programme - collecting data, as well as providing on-going feedback to LMK.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Extensive experience of teaching or working with young people (9 to 24 yrs old) in an educational, sports or community setting.

• Minimum 2 years’ experience co-designing, delivering and evaluating group sessions, consisting of minimum, of 12 and maximum of 30 participants.

• Experience or co-designing session plans and co-facilitating with others; able to collaborate equally with others.

• A strong commitment to young people and knowledge and understanding of issues affecting their relationships.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills with the ability to create a safe and non-judgmental space, that allows young people to speak freely about their relationships and experience.

• Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to deliver sensitive information whilst treating young people’s concerns with respect.

• Capable of maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries with young people, peers, and professionals.

• Able to adapt and be flexible in workshops to get the best engagement from a range of participants. 

• Skilled at facilitating virtual workshops and working with a selection of online portals. 

 

Requirements 

• Entitled to work in the UK.

• Hold a DBS certificate or be willing to let us undertake a check on your behalf. 

• Have a recent safeguarding qualification from a recognised provider or be willing to undertake additional training in this area.

• Flexibility to work non-traditional, after-school and occasional weekend / holiday hours.

• Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, confidentiality, data protection and reporting concerns to an appropriate person.

Roots to Wellbeing project aims:

• Provide a safe and inclusive space for participants to receive weekly support.
• Help participants to connect with nature and socialise with others to feel happier, less anxious and less isolated.
• Support participants to access other beneficial services, where appropriate, including health, social and financial.
• Support participants to move onto outdoor work or volunteering with friends of groups where appropriate.
• Facilitate a positive journey through the service for participants to ensure as many people as possible can access the service.

The role 

The roles has four main areas of work:

1. Leadership and management:

• Lead the Roots to Wellbeing team to reach its goals. 
• Line manage and support three Mental Health Officers, each delivering Roots to Wellbeing on one site.
• Work with local communities and other team members to explore new opportunities for the project and develop solutions.
• Work with CEO and Head of Fundraising to secure funding for project development.

2. Project management: 

• Oversee the delivery and development of the project to meet key KPIs.
• Collate qualitative and quantitative data and produce impact reports for funders. 
• Support team to ensure administrative records are kept up to date, including but not limited to: maintaining accurate participant records, work programme, incident reporting, risk management, external outreach, website.
• Develop a thorough communications strategy and build on current local referral relationships to further embed the programme within the VCSE & Health sector.
• Ensure service standard and quality is consistent across sites and policies and procedures are followed. 
• Recruit and induct volunteers to support session delivery.
• Work in partnership with stakeholders within and across the organisation to deliver project goals.
• Attend networking meetings and community events to raise awareness of the project and demonstrate its impact. 

3. Session delivery at Hartcliffe Millennium Green: 

• Continually build and maintain relationships with local referral partners to achieve a consistent referral rate into the project. 
• Deliver weekly Roots to Wellbeing sessions by; planning and facilitating delivery of sessions and activities in line with 5 pathways to nature connectedness and that are accessible to all participants, organising logistics of sessions such as travel, food and equipment, acting as safeguarding lead during sessions, liaising with co-facilitator, leading peer-support style check in at the beginning of the sessions and the grounding and meditation at the end.
• Lead on all direct communication with participants at Hartcliffe Millennium Green. Support them to create personalised development plans, signposting and referrals where needed. 

4. Other: 

• Support the work of the wider charity and specifically the South Bristol team as required. 
• Representing the charity externally through media work and presentation where necessary.

You’ll have experience of working in end-of-life care within an acute or palliative care setting. We will also consider newly qualified nurses who want to develop a career in palliative care.
