Responsible for 

§  To provide operational leadership, management, performance review, maintain quality, monitoring, improve ways of working, develop staff and lead the development and implementation of the MfM Services for the benefit of our clients.

§  Representing MfM at a senior and strategic level with external partners. 

§  Support and build strategic direction for MFM.

§  Work as a member of the Senior Leadership Team to develop, grow and sustain MfM.

§  Communicating and liaising with the internal staff/volunteer team and external agencies and services to include liaising with other mental health/ maternity care service providers and VCSE organisations to cross-refer.  

§  Delivering training sessions for staff and volunteer, sessional workers and placements.

§  Managing regular Co-ordinators meetings  

§  Offering quarterly management supervision to staff team.

§  Offering regular management supervision group for volunteers.  

§  Assist with the co-ordinating of supervision arrangements for the Staff team and placement students.

§  Publicise service across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire

§  Demonstrate an ability to empathise, encourage and support women towards recovery.

§  Promote MfM services to women during activities, as appropriate.

§  Collect and collate data, arrange for completion of monitoring and evaluation forms. Write timely reports giving feedback on the services for the CEO and for project funders.

§  Work in close collaboration with MfM colleagues in the development of the services to act in the best interests of MfM at all times. 

§  Triage and manage the waiting lists for the services.

§  Supporting women as required within project work.

We are recruiting for a specialist Money & Budgeting Advisor into our Advice Service to provide money, budgeting and debt advice to our members, oversee the application processes for our expanded hardship funds and to run our new financial literacy programme. This role will work alongside another Money & Budgeting Advisor and with our wider Advice & Wellbeing team, supporting each other to achieve positive outcomes for our students. The post holder will provide accurate finance, debt and budgeting advice and information to students using the Advice Service including casework, support and advocacy.

What the job involves

This is an exciting new role in Prostate Cancer UK’s Health Information and Clinical Support team. The team delivers a wide range of high-quality services directly to anyone affected by prostate cancer or prostate disease, as well as supporting a range of activity charity-wide that requires clinical expertise.

Many men, and their friends and family, don’t know the risk factors of prostate cancer – and when they do, they don’t know what to do next. We want a world where every man over 45 in the UK understands their risk of prostate cancer and has the tools and information to navigate it. Our online risk checker is a good place to start, but this role will be a crucial additional source of information for men and their loved ones. 

As a Risk Information Officer, you’ll deliver the charity’s pilot Risk Information Service, providing information and support to men at risk of prostate cancer, and their loved ones, via the telephone. This is a non-clinical role, but you’ll discuss callers’ risk of prostate cancer along the lines of the predominant risk factors (age, ethnicity, family history and BRCA gene status). If necessary, you’ll also support them to seek a PSA blood test from their GP and on occasion routing callers who have more complex clinical questions back to the Specialist Nurse service.

You’ll play a key role in developing the pilot – contributing to conversations and decisions around how to adjust and improve the service in its early months. You’ll also report back on your calls, to help the charity develop its broader understanding of information and support needs when it comes to prostate cancer risk and the PSA blood test.

Reporting into the Clinical Services Senior Officer, you’ll have close and regular contact with assigned Specialist Nurses so that you feel at ease in sharing prostate cancer related information with callers, and in maintaining the boundaries and scope of the service day-to-day.

This is a service pilot with the Risk Information Officer role being a fixed term for the duration, with the potential to make the role permanent based on the pilot’s success.

What we want from you

You’ll be a compassionate and resilient communicator; you may be speaking to a caller who is anxious about their risk of prostate cancer. You’ll be a great listener, hearing callers concerns and offering a supportive and empathetic response. Although this is a non-clinical role, with your existing understanding of the healthcare system in the UK, you’ll be willing to learn the basic knowledge of prostate cancer and use the appropriate associated terminology.

You’ll be comfortable in handling more complex conversations, but with self-awareness to recognise your limitations in offering support and recognising clear boundaries of guidance being provided and be able to direct to our Specialist Nurses when needed.

Experience in using a CRM system will be advantageous in this role and any experience with a helpline or providing support or information over the phone will be beneficial in your role.

About this job

Our Helpline runs from 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic, warm and experienced individual to support our dedicated Helpline Volunteers and Befriending Volunteers within the Helpline team.

This role requires working flexible hours, including 9am–5pm, 10am–6pm or 11am–7pm between Monday to Friday to meet services and volunteer needs (3 days a week).

Duties and key responsibilities

Community fundraising

• Manage and develop regional fundraising by devising a regional community fundraising strategy for income generation.
• Design and develop Sarcoma UK's calendar of annual community fundraising campaigns and events communication, including Cuppa and Cake.
• Introduce fundraising opportunities to our existing and potential supporters through a multi-channelled marketing strategy to grow levels of engagement and participation.
• Identify opportunities and recruit new community fundraisers, fundraising groups, corporate and school partners.

General

• The role requires some travel to events and meetings throughout the UK. Some weekend or evening work will also be required and time off in lieu will be given. Travel expenses will be reimbursed (exc. Travel to the Sarcoma UK office).

Reporting to the Director of Finance and operations, this role will ensure that appropriate financial processes and systems are followed and developed to support our charity’s sustainable growth and safeguard our financial health. The Finance & Payroll Officer will ensure that financial tasks and transactions are undertaken in an efficient, effective and timely manner and, importantly, that relevant financial information is provided to keep the Senior Leadership Team informed to make the best decisions for the charity. The role will also cover responsibility for all payroll operations, ensuring that all payments are accurate and on time and that appropriate and accurate information is provided to the Director of Finance & Operations, HMRC, pension providers and other external bodies. As our Digital Marketing Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Marketing Manager and broader team in volunteer and school recruitment efforts, while managing our social media presence. What the job involves

Funding research that will improve the lives of men with, or at high risk of, prostate cancer is one of Prostate Cancer UK’s highest priorities. Prostate cancer is harming too many men, in exchange for too few cures, which is why we are motivated more than ever to deliver a future where lives are no longer harmed by prostate cancer. We invest in the most innovative ideas to accelerate our knowledge and understanding of prostate cancer, and to develop better treatments and more effective approaches to diagnose the disease, so that we can transform the lives of all men with, or at risk of, prostate cancer.

We’re looking to appoint an enthusiastic and proactive Senior Research Impact Officer to join our Research Directorate. You’ll join an existing Senior Research Impact Officer to support the Senior Research Impact and Intelligence Manager to find, communicate and accelerate the impact of Prostate Cancer UK’s funded research. Taking responsibility for 50% of our ‘completed and in follow-up’ portfolio of research grants, you’ll act as their primary contact, assessing the likelihood of, and proximity to, impact.

You’ll use your scientific knowledge to understand the science behind these projects and communication skills to build strong working relationships with the researchers. With your research experience you’ll develop a detailed understanding of the outputs, outcomes and impact arising from the research we funded and support our research community to accelerate their pathway to impact.

What we want from you

Your role is important to the charity, as supporting research that can ultimately deliver a tangible impact to men affected by prostate cancer is a significant focus in our charity strategy.

You’ll need to be passionate about research making an impact and hold a bio-medical science degree (or a degree in a related subject), with research experience. You can understand complex scientific information presented in reports, publications or presentations and explain these complex concepts in a simple and engaging way to a range of audiences including peers within the charity as well as men and their families affected by the disease. You’ll be motivated to consistently perform to the highest standards, with an eagerness to trial new ideas, identify new opportunities and solve problems.

In any one day you could be helping develop an impact case study for the website, interviewing researchers for project updates, supporting delivery of a research event, or using social media to disseminate the work of our funded researchers. An exciting opportunity has come up to lead our Green Social Prescribing Service; Roots to Wellbeing. In this role you get the opportunity to unlock the therapeutic power of nature for those who really need it. You get to work with a diverse range of people across communities and leading organisations as well as being a leading figure in a growing movement that champions the impact nature connection can have to improve health and wellbeing and combat loneliness.

We are looking for a creative, compassionate and enthusiastic leader who can help us not only reach but exceed our goals for this project and be the nurturing force to help Roots to Wellbeing develop and grow. 

Roots to Wellbeing project aims:

• Provide a safe and inclusive space for participants to receive weekly support.
• Help participants to connect with nature and socialise with others to feel happier, less anxious and less isolated.
• Support participants to access other beneficial services, where appropriate, including health, social and financial.
• Support participants to move onto outdoor work or volunteering with friends of groups where appropriate.
• Facilitate a positive journey through the service for participants to ensure as many people as possible can access the service.

The role 

The roles has four main areas of work:

1. Leadership and management:

• Lead the Roots to Wellbeing team to reach its goals. 
• Line manage and support three Mental Health Officers, each delivering Roots to Wellbeing on one site.
• Work with local communities and other team members to explore new opportunities for the project and develop solutions.
• Work with CEO and Head of Fundraising to secure funding for project development.

2. Project management: 

• Oversee the delivery and development of the project to meet key KPIs.
• Collate qualitative and quantitative data and produce impact reports for funders. 
• Support team to ensure administrative records are kept up to date, including but not limited to: maintaining accurate participant records, work programme, incident reporting, risk management, external outreach, website.
• Develop a thorough communications strategy and build on current local referral relationships to further embed the programme within the VCSE & Health sector.
• Ensure service standard and quality is consistent across sites and policies and procedures are followed. 
• Recruit and induct volunteers to support session delivery.
• Work in partnership with stakeholders within and across the organisation to deliver project goals.
• Attend networking meetings and community events to raise awareness of the project and demonstrate its impact. 

3. Session delivery at Hartcliffe Millennium Green: 

• Continually build and maintain relationships with local referral partners to achieve a consistent referral rate into the project. 
• Deliver weekly Roots to Wellbeing sessions by; planning and facilitating delivery of sessions and activities in line with 5 pathways to nature connectedness and that are accessible to all participants, organising logistics of sessions such as travel, food and equipment, acting as safeguarding lead during sessions, liaising with co-facilitator, leading peer-support style check in at the beginning of the sessions and the grounding and meditation at the end.
• Lead on all direct communication with participants at Hartcliffe Millennium Green. Support them to create personalised development plans, signposting and referrals where needed. 

4. Other: 

• Support the work of the wider charity and specifically the South Bristol team as required. 
• Representing the charity externally through media work and presentation where necessary.

At our independent charity based in London Borough of Sutton, the Head of Health Services will lead on and develop Age UK Sutton's community health commissions including; our Hospital Discharge service which provides practical support to older people in the first days and weeks after discharge from a hospital admittance; Dementia Peer and Practical support service, delivering information, advice, peer support and some practical support to those living with or affected by Dementia; and the innovative Older Person's Mental Health Peer Support service operating in partnership with Sutton's Community Mental Health services and South West London Mental Health Services.

The Head of Health Services will have delivery objectives to achieve with their operational team, with current direct line management of 9 staff over 3 services and have strategic development opportunities to deliver excellent services to the older population in London Borough of Sutton.

Do you want to join an organisation committed to addressing illiteracy amongst people in prison?

Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led literacy and numeracy programmes across a number of prisons.  We now have the opportunity to provide a service at HMP Bure and HMP Norwich. Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme at HMP Bure and HMP Norwich, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read. 

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach.

This is a full time role and will be split between two sites at HMP Bure and HMP Norwich. 2 x part time positions may be considered. This role will be prison-based.
