Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation.  We deliver front line support to women harmed by the criminal justice system, through our work in prisons, in the community and ‘through the prison gate’ as they resettle back into their communities. We also campaign for systems change that addresses the root causes of offending, reduces the harmful impact of prison, and creates workable, community-based alternatives to imprisonment.

Job Purpose:

To lead the operational delivery of Women in Prison’s services across Wandsworth, Sutton and Merton, including the management of the Wandsworth Hub and line management of two Advocates. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed support for women affected by the criminal justice system and will also support the development and integration of a new South London-based project focused on women who have had children removed or are at risk of child removal.ma

About the role

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Estates & Maintenance Manager to ensure The Royal Homes Estate is a safe, efficient and well-maintained environment for the benefit of residents at Queens Alexandra Court. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the buildings to the highest possible standards, effectively delivering key projects and managing all maintenance systems in-line with appropriate guidance, warranties and best practice.

This role also includes conducting routine inspections across the estate, handling plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other maintenance tasks.

Additionally, the successful candidate will oversee the ongoing Quinquennial works, collaborating with the Quinquennial inspector and external contractors to ensure all repair work is completed successfully.

You will be part of a small dedicated and compassionate team based at The Royal Homes Estate, with direct line management responsibility for three members of the maintenance team. You will have the opportunity to work closely with co-workers who are highly trained, experienced and supportive.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have recognised skills in the maintenance/building trade and have an understanding of Health & Safety requirements and regulations. Strong negotiating and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to understand and maintain communication with a wide range of contractors. You will have a practical and hands on approach, with the ability to manage maintenance issues around the site where appropriate.

You will be able to prioritise and plan your workload efficiently, with a thorough and meticulous approach.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an innovative major donor fundraiser to lead a team of 3 at this incredible youth charity. As Senior Philanthropy Manager, you will be responsible for an income stream of £1.3million with a view to, and the potential to, double income over the next few years. Philanthropy has been identified as a key growth area and is getting the investment and buy-in from senior stakeholders and the wider charity. The team have also recently conducted a wealth screening exercise which has identified numerous opportunities for the team to explore. This is an exciting role for someone who is ambitious, creative and keen to make a significant impact on the shape and growth of a high value programme. 

The Role:

• The Senior Philanthropy Manager will lead the philanthropy programme, inspiring and developing a team of 3 to deliver income in excess of £1.3million annually
• Develop and implement a philanthropic giving strategy with a focus on retaining, uplifting and recruiting gifts from high-net-worth donors
• Take responsibility for developing the major donor pipeline and drive forward new business opportunities to achieve sustainable income growth over the next 3 years
• Personally steward a portfolio of donors and prospects at the 6-figure level, with ambitions to build relationships with individuals with capacity to give 7-figure donations

About You:

• Proven experience at managing a philanthropy programme with demonstrable success at growing income
• Significant pipeline development experience and ability to effectively engage with prospects and lapsed donors
• Strong relationship management skills to engage with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels
• Experience managing direct reports to support them in their own development and enabling them to thrive in their roles

Charity People are delighted to be working with Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, a charity which stops at nothing to help give seriously ill children the best chance, and the best childhood possible, to recruit a Grant Operations Manager on a 12-month fixed term contract.

Every day, around 750 seriously ill children from across the UK arrive for life-changing treatments at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). At GOSH, the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs that change the lives of thousands of children - and change the world. GOSH first opened its doors in 1852 with 10 beds. Now, it's one of the world's leading children's hospitals and home to vital advancements in paediatric medicine and care.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity supports the hospital by funding groundbreaking research, cutting-edge medical equipment, child-centred facilities and life-changing support.

The Grant Operations Manager, part of the Impact and Charitable Programmes Department, will oversee the business-critical grant operations within the Grant Funding team. They will ensure there is robust decision making, effective processes to select and award the most impactful projects and programmes, and will enable the monitoring of outputs, outcomes and impact against the department strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Grant Governance and Compliance: Lead long-range grant governance planning for the team, oversee committees, review and refresh policies, ensure grant funding processes meet required standards, such as GDPR, and manage external audits.
• Grant Finances and Budgeting: Support setting and monitoring charitable expenditure and Grant Funding team budget, approve invoices, and maintain strong working relationships with finance leads at host institutions, the hospital and ICH.
• Grant Funding Team Operations: Support with the delivery of team business plans, implement KPIs for good grant management, and ensure effective support across the full grant lifecycle through team coordination and leadership.
• Grant Processes and Systems: Oversee grant processes from pre- to post-award, lead continuous review and improvements, support transition to new Grant Management System, and ensure accurate data storage and reporting.
• Grant Management: Ensure good processes are in place for grant funding elements of restricted funding, oversee use of special purpose funding, oversee accurate grant data to external partners.
• Line Management and Leadership: Deputise for Senior leaders as required, line manage two Grants Operations Officers and build relationships with stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in research and grants management, including research governance, project management, and supporting high-level committees. They will be highly organised, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trusted relationships across scientific, clinical, and research communities. A good understanding of charity sector fundraising, the UK medical research landscape, and the complexities of NHS-based research is desirable.
