Fine Cell Work are looking for an exceptionally supportive and non-judgemental individual to act as the first point of contact and underpin all aspects of Fine Cell Work's post-prison programme, Open The Gate (OTG). 

Beyond skills for employment, OTG offers a range of support to prison-leavers, who we refer to as Apprentices. The Engagement Support Officer will be responsible for establishing sustainable referral pathways with external partners, recruiting OTG Apprentices in line with organisational strategy, and preparing individual risk assessments and tailored support plans. They will also be responsible for the development of OTG’s remote support scheme and for supporting volunteer employment mentors alongside the Volunteer and Programmes Manager.

Our purpose

Fine Cell Work is a rehabilitation charity and social enterprise that teaches prisoners and prison-leavers to make beautiful handmade products.  The making and selling of high quality needlework boosts their self-worth, instils self-discipline and fosters hope.  Our aim is for our stitchers to finish their sentences with work skills, money earned and saved, and the self-belief to not re-offend.  We also guide them towards training and support on release.  At the Fine Cell Work Hub in Battersea, we run our Open the Gate programme which provides work experience, formal training and employment to prison-leavers. 

The role

As well as offering person-centred support and helping to shape our post-release programmes, you would be responsible for:

• Presenting and promoting Open the Gate among external partners including HMP resettlement teams, probation services, approved premises and other organisations supporting prison-leavers on their resettlement journey.
• Assisting with the development of risk management plans including information gathering, dissemination, and regular review.
• Providing day to day practical, emotional, and sign-posting support to a caseload of adult Apprentices engaging with Open the Gate and providing ad hoc support to past Apprentices when required.
• Action planning and setting out individual objectives with all Apprentices, supporting them to achieve work-ready outcomes in an agreed period.
• Working with the team to research and liaise with offender support and employment agencies beyond FCW, signposting Apprentices and supporting mentors with appropriate signposting and referrals to partner agencies.
• Working with the wider team at FCW to develop and coordinate a series of employability and creative wellbeing workshops for Apprentices.
• Ensuring timely, accurate, and safe recording of all information and personal data.
• Responding to safeguarding concerns in line with FCW policy and procedure.
• Providing remote support via telephone and online to FCW experienced prison-leavers who do not live in London and the Southeast.
• Supporting the Volunteer and Programmes Manager with delivering the Service User Involvement Strategy and championing service user involvement across the organisation more broadly.
• Supporting the Volunteer and Programmes Manager to recruit and deliver training to mentors and other volunteers in roles supporting OTG Apprentices.
• Working with the Volunteer and Programmes Manager to develop and enhance the OTG Mentor Offer including as the first point of contact for Mentors pre- and post- mentoring sessions.

This role is full time and based in our offices in Battersea, South London. Whilst we offer a supportive and flexible working environment, the successful candidate will need to be in the office full time (with occasional working from home)

Reports to: Director of Programmes

Holiday: 25 days annual leave p.a. plus bank holidays

Salary:  £27,000 - £29,000, dependant on experience

SANE is a UK-wide mental health charity working to improve the quality of life of anyone affected by mental illness. It aims to raise awareness and understanding of all mental health conditions; fight to improve frontline mental health services for individuals and carers; provide support, information and guidance through its helpline, call back service, email and text support; and promote and host research into causes, treatments and therapies.

 About the role:

We would love to hear from anyone with experience and enthusiasm for training and working in mental health. The Training Officer role is pivotal for the recruitment and training of all our volunteers, who go on to support people affected by mental illness on our helpline or text services.

You will be part of the training delivery team that recruits and trains new volunteers for our out of hours mental health specialist helpline. You will provide support to the Training Manager by responding to volunteer emails and communications, preparing and updating the training material as required and taking active part in recruitment and development of SANE volunteers in line with agreed targets. You will ensure clear and timely information sharing and handover to colleagues and work closely with the service team to maintain high-quality service to our callers.

The role of Training Officer requires an open minded attitude, strong communication skills and ability to provide feedback to individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Starting Salary: £16,200 pro rata, 22.5 hours (FTE £27,000 per annum)

Kitchen Assistants x 2 – Day Care Centres 

Age UK Camden Day Care Centres are looking to recruit two Kitchen Assistants across our two Day Care Centres based in Kings Cross and Hampstead. (Staff are expected to be able to work at both locations as required) 

We have a dedicated, specialist team supporting people with care needs, including those living with mild - moderate dementia and complex needs.  

Our Centres provide a wide range of activities as well as being a specialist Day Care Centres caring for older people with complex needs. The Day Care Centres also provide a hot lunch which enjoyed by our clients. 

The successful candidate will: 

• Support the Chef and other Day Centre staff in food service delivery during lunch time periods 

• Support the Chef and other Day Centre staff in the preparation of food and drink 

• Be responsible for keeping kitchen areas clean, tidy and sanitized 

• Be responsible for washing up of all dirty dishes, cooking utensils and other cooking equipment 

• Supervise kitchen trainees in appropriate skills. (when applicable) 

• Ensure that the kitchen is clean, orderly and managed to the highest standards of food hygiene and safety at all times.

About the role

This is a great opportunity to work within the Stories team at Shelter, recruiting people from within relevant services and outside the organisation to share their experiences to support Shelter’s fundraising, media, services, campaigning, research and brand work. As well as making contact with people willing to share their stories, you’ll be able to listen to someone’s experience and write a summary of their story. The traineeship lasts 15 months and you will receive personalised training and support to help remove some of the barriers that may have prevented you from getting meaningful employment. Once your traineeship is complete, we will support you in securing further employment in the future.

About you

We are looking for people who have lived experience of homelessness/bad housing and overcoming personal challenges and who are passionate about using their own life experiences to help make positive change for others. Good communication skills and the ability to make people feel heard will also be essential. Basic computer skills, e.g. word processing, the internet and email would be useful, but support can be provided. Above all, we need people with a real desire to develop personally and learn new skills.

You’ll have an active role providing LGBTQ+ affirmative support for LGBTQ+ children and young people. 

This is an exciting job opportunity to join a dynamic and committed team in a front-line role to support and deliver the activities and services of elop’s LGBTQ+ Children & Young People’s Service.

In this role you will have opportunity to design and deliver innovative youth support programmes, groups & other activities; provide LGBTQ+ affirmative support, guidance and mentoring on a one- to- one basis; work with our wider family work programme, support families with LGBTQ+ children and deliver work in schools to students & teaching staff.

You will have lead responsibility for our LGBTQ+ Young Peoples Service, including promotion, & administration, along with the induction, support & supervision of sessional staff & volunteers. 

Initially you will be working remotely via home-based working whilst elop relocates its offices & centre transitioning back to fulltime in-person working & service provision during 2024.  Some services are in person in East London. 

Full Time: 37 hours per week   

You must be available to work Tuesday evenings & once a month on a Sunday afternoon.  There will be other evenings and occasional other weekend working required.

Since 2003, we have been harnessing the power of skiing & snowboarding to break down barriers, broaden horizons and address the biggest social issues facing underserved young people today.

Our accredited programmes are unique and attractive to young people who are less likely to engage with mainstream provision. Taking them from beginner to qualified snowsports instructors in just one year with volunteering and apprenticeship progression routes available at the end. Alongside learning to ski or snowboard, young people also have access to wellbeing support with the emphasis on improving young people’s mental health and wellbeing.

This is a really exciting opportunity to play a key role in Snow Camp’s development in London, with programmes running from The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempsted. Experience of working successfully with underserved young people in a range of settings will be essential to the post. Furthermore, experience within a snowsports field and passion for supporting young people generally will be a huge advantage!

Project management, logistical skills, relationship management, communication and presentation skills will all make up the job. Along with youth work experience to deliver life-skills or group workshops to motivate young people to work towards meaningful goals – these will all make up the job.

About IKWRO

IKWRO –Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) is an award-winning charity founded (as the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation) in 2002. IKWRO is a registered charity which provides advice and support to Middle Eastern, North African and Afghan women and girls living in the UK, who have experienced, or are at risk of all forms of “honour” based abuse, including; forced marriage, child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM), or domestic abuse.

We work with women and girls of all ages, including lesbian women, bisexual women and trans women. We offer services in Kurdish, Farsi, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Turkish and English. IKWRO offers free advice, advocacy and counselling services and operates a refuge which provides safe accommodation and specialist support to single women at risk of “honour” based abuse, forced marriage and domestic abuse.

IKWRO also provides training for women and girls to help them understand their rights in the UK. In partnership with other organisations, we assist survivors of abuse with accessing English language classes and education, training and employment opportunities.

The post-holder will be required to work in a confidential setting and provide non directive support to improve mental health and social functioning of women who are experiencing different forms of gender based violence. The post-holder will be professionally trained, accredited and work within the BACP/BPS Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2018) or equivalent. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

·Provide a service in line with BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) guidelines or equivalent.

·To support the management team with the strategic development of IKWRO’s counselling services. 

·The provision of effective and high-quality Counselling and Psychotherapy services to IKWRO’s clients through making use of up to date service standards and IKWRO’s Counselling Guidelines.

·To agree a counselling contract with IKWRO’s clients and provide a timely, responsive and appropriate service.

·Carrying out a small one to one clinical caseload and/or depending on the team’s clinical capacity.

·To manage waiting lists according to the level of risk, delivery plans and organisational priorities. 

·To manage the delivery against targets and in accordance with contract requirements. 

·To lead, line manage and develop the counselling services staff as required.

·To do the clinical supervision of Associate Counsellors and trainees.
