The Community Engagement Coordinator will support the development of our partnership network and the delivery of our work in Wales. This will involve communicating and engaging, in person and online, with a range of delivery partners, building relationships, communicating about our work and coordinating the day-to-day operations of our programmes. There will also be a level of general administration and support.
It is a very varied role that involves working with a wide range of external stakeholders, including practitioners working in early years settings, schools, libraries as well as community groups and other charities, as well as internal colleagues across BookTrust. The role includes both outward facing work such as organising and attending events, visiting new and existing partners, communicating directly with delivery partners and on our social media as well as internal project administration and co-ordination, and office administration. The Community Engagement Coordinator will also contribute to the development of new activities and programmes.
We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic individual with a demonstrable ability to develop relationships and make connections across a wide range of people and groups. Equally comfortable co-ordinating and undertaking a wide range of day-to-day operational tasks A strong communicator with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of audiences, in writing, and in person.
You will have ideally worked within or across a particular community or region, in outreach or a project within the third sector and be a highly motivated individual with the ability to work and travel unsupervised across multiple projects simultaneously and to work at pace, often to tight deadlines.
A passion to make a difference for children and families with an interest in the benefits of literacy and reading to child development, the value of books, stories and rhymes and the role of parents, carers, and guardians in developing a love of reading would be valuable.

We are looking for someone with experience of working in administrative roles, with knowledge of office systems and processes. You will have excellent administrative and coordination skills, be a strong communicator and comfortable working with a range of people across multiple workstreams as well as liaising with external stakeholders. You will have excellent organisational and planning skills, be comfortable juggling different tasks and have a problem-solving mindset.
Above all you will be someone who is proactive, willing to 'muck in' when needed and be able to work in a collaborative and inclusive style.

We are looking for an experienced Community Partners Engagement Project Manager with an impressive track record of co-ordinating and delivering high quality community organisation engagement work in partnership with statutory stakeholders. Key tasks and responsibilities:
To provide leadership and day‑to‑day management for the Change4Life Neighbourhood Projects. These place‑based annual initiatives focus identifying and overcoming barriers to on promoting healthy eating and physical activity in four priority wards, selected based on National Child Measurement Programme data and levels of deprivation where children are most at risk of poor health outcomes.
As the Community Partners Engagement Project Manager, you will lead the design, delivery and evaluation of the Neighbourhood Projects, working closely with – and line‑managing – the Community Partners Engagement Coordinator. You will share strategic oversight with the Change4Life Programme Manager and Change4Life Service Manager and play a key role in shaping high‑quality, outcome‑focused interventions that deliver positive, measurable changes for children, young people and their families. This role directly contributes to Family Action’s strategic ambition to ensure the organisation is Stronger than Ever.
Central to your work will be mobilising and supporting local partners within each ward to co‑design and co‑deliver initiatives that address the real, locally identified barriers to healthy eating and physical activity. You will build on existing community strengths, ensuring that projects reflect local needs and amplify community voices.
You will work collaboratively with delivery partners, wider community organisations, and local councils, engaging relevant council teams when required. By developing strong, productive relationships, you will help create a local movement that brings together residents, services, and organisations to make it easier for children, young people and their families to eat well and stay active.

Your skills
You will bring your knowledge and experience of project management to co-ordinate and deliver co-produced neighbourhood project plans in partnership with key local stakeholders. The post requires an ability to co-ordinate and manage the Change4Life neighbourhood projects in close partnership with Public Health and Local Authority partners. The ability to think outside of the box, work in a creative and dynamic environment, excellent partnership skills with statutory and voluntary organisations are key. Strong staff management skills, excellent report writing and data analysis skills are required for this role and a thorough understanding of quality assurance and safeguarding frameworks and practice.

About Friends for Life Bedfordshire
We are a Bedford-based charity working to address the social isolation of older residents in Bedfordshire’s care homes.
Founded in 2007, we have grown from a small local initiative to a registered charity with c90 volunteers supporting more than 30 care homes across Bedford Borough. In the last year, over 1,100 care home residents received our services.
The Role
This is a leadership role responsible for the overall management, performance and development of the charity.
You will lead a small team which includes specialist leads responsible for fundraising, volunteer management, and marketing & partnerships.
Your role is to set direction for the team to deliver the charity’s strategy and business plan, aligning priorities and creating the conditions for the team to succeed.
You will also act as the public face of Friends for Life, working closely with the Board of Trustees. Whilst we are small charity and this is a hands-on leadership role, success will come from enabling others, not by doing everything yourself.

Management of the Charity
- Lead the day-to-day running of the charity and the delivery of its business plan

We strategically lead on both proactive and reactive media activity engaging with journalists to support WaterAid’s mass engagement campaigns (e.g. campaigning for no mother to give birth without safe water), partnerships (like designing celebrity toilets at Glastonbury, or creating PR campaigns for our Wimbledon Foundation partnership), brand awareness and political influencing.
About the role
As our Senior Media Officer, your will support the Senior PR manager to deliver the public relations function for WaterAid across digital and traditional media and work closely with the team and other colleagues across our fundraising, partnership and advocacy teams to drive ambitious and sustainable change.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and deliver innovative integrated, digital-first PR campaigns that achieve impactful national, international, local and digital coverage, to support our fundraising and public engagement activities, build WaterAid’s profile, and align with wider organisational aims
- Take a project lead on high-profile strategic partnerships to deliver media projects that meet shared objectives and help our partners become influencers in their sector to drive change
- Work with the Celebrity and Influencer team to develop effective ways to work with high-profile supporters to build awareness of WaterAid and our work
- Shoot, edit and upload digital content for our digital media outlets including TikTok and YouTube
- Build and maintain relationships with key journalists and broadcasters including the planning and managing of trips to country programmes with journalists, celebrities or for content gathering
- Join the 24/7 on-call rota (aprox every 6-8 weeks) and be prepared for travel in the UK and overseas - usually around two weeks per year - as well as some work outside normal office hours, as necessary

Requirements
To be successful, you will need:
- Excellent command of written and verbal English to produce written media work of high quality
- Proven experience of working in an in-house press office / PR agency or as a journalist
- Excellent understanding and working knowledge of digital platforms including TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn and Instagram
- Strong understanding of the UK and global media landscape, with an excellent nose for a story and established relationships with key journalists and media outlets for major UK and global titles.
- Proven experience of delivering effective and innovative integrated, multi-channel media campaigns with digital media at their core
- Understanding of how the media can be used as an influencing tool – whether to encourage fundraising and engagement or influence decision makers
- Ability to forge effective/ strong working relationships within the team and with colleagues from across the organisation
- Proven ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to personal learning, development and improvement in pursuit of own objectives and those of the team and organisation
- Commitment to WaterAid’s values and a working style that reflects these
Although not essential, we’d prefer you to have:
- NGO or international development experience
- Experience of working effectively within a complex matrix structure
- Experience of working for print, broadcast or online media
- Experience of working on successful fundraising appeals
- Experience of working with corporate partners
- Strong IT skills in Canva, Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience working with agents and celebrities
- Ability to speak French or Portuguese

As part of our annual leave policy, all employees receive three additional days of annual leave on top of their standard allocation of 25 days. These days are automatically scheduled and cannot be changed or moved. Annual leave is accrued based on your start date. If sufficient leave has not been accrued by the time of the closure, the 3 days will be taken as unpaid leave or pro-rated, depending on your circumstances.
