We are an independent local charity in the Heart of Kent (Aylesford), offering a wide range of services to support local people and their loved ones, who are living with a life-limiting or terminal illness.
The work we do makes a real difference to the lives of local people and we support over 1000 patients at any one time between our Inpatient Unit and Community teams. The majority of this care is funded by the support given to us by our local community.
Being Head of Fundraising at Heart of Kent Hospice
As Head of Fundraising, you’ll be heading up an incredible team of 6 dedicated fundraising staff who, along with the support of our volunteers, work tirelessly to support our Hospice. Their dedication to, and care for, our supporters generates over £1.8 million annually, which is vital for funding our care.
This role is a hands-on, doing role, responsible for the day-to-day running of the fundraising function at the Hospice. The fundraising portfolio is both varied and diverse and the Head of Fundraising will be in amongst the team, overseeing the delivery and focusing on achieving and exceeding budget.
Working with the Communications Team you’ll support the team deliver integrated fundraising activity and develop outstanding supporter experiences and onward journeys.
Working with the Deputy Director of Fundraising and Communications you will support the development and oversee the delivery of a truly diverse fundraising portfolio that meets the needs of our changing community and their future interests and needs.
The fundraising team will be stewarding our incredible supporters and donors across fundraising events, community fundraising, challenge events, Corporate, In memory and regular giving portfolios.
Experience at a senior level in managing a varied and innovative fundraising environment, with a £1 million+ turnover, is crucial. Equally important is your passion, and drive, to make a difference and achieve results to make a profound difference. Please refer to the role JD for more information around main responsibilities.
Essential Criteria for the Role
o Extensive and progressive experience in fundraising, fundraising product development, or related fields, preferably within the healthcare or nonprofit sector.
o Have a pragmatic, creative and innovative approach to problem solving and decision making.
o Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written - able to communicate and build relationships with an array of people.
o Experience in developing fundraising products and supporter journeys.
o Experienced in budget setting and ongoing budget management, including reforecasting and day-to-day budget management and reporting.
o Experience with data analysis, and how to use this insight to progress future activity.
o Enthusiastic and pro-active, with a can-do attitude.
o Experience of and a passion for delivering high quality customer or supporter care while working efficiently and accurately.
o Enjoy collaborating with other team members.
o Excellent attention to detail.
o Experienced in IT - using databases to log and keep information accurately up to date, in a timely manner (the Hospice uses Raisers Edge).
o Excellent time management and organisation skills, to be able to manage multiple tasks at once.

We have an opportunity for a Safeguarding Officer to join our very busy team!

Job purpose:
The role has two distinct areas of responsibility:
Provide administrative and logistical support for the smooth running of the London office (70%). Administrative assistance for the general operations of the Trustees, including coordination of Board meetings (30%), although this may vary on a day-to-day basis.

· Be the main point of contact for office maintenance, security, and building management. Communicate with the landlord to promptly and efficiently address any related issues.

Management team administrative support (30%)
· Provide administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer when required.
· Assist in preparing and coordinating management team, UK and Saferworld Europe Board meetings, and other committee and leadership meetings. This includes handling documentation, logistical arrangements, ICT setup for remote participation, and supporting travel bookings and expense claims.
· Manage the global Saferworld calendar, ensuring everyone is informed of events and meetings as necessary.
· Undertake miscellaneous tasks as requested by the CEO, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to support organisational needs effectively.

Your new role
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Senior Director in a professional, responsible and timely manner;
- Manage enquiries to the team, being proactive and alert to the Senior Director's daily workload;
- Manage the Senior Director's diary, handling diary conflicts, and exercising sound judgement in prioritising appointments;
- Assist the Senior Director in managing their outlook inbox, responding to queries or actioning work in their absence (as required) and monitoring progress;
- Support timely and efficient distribution of papers, and other tasks required for meetings and decision-making;
- Book travel, accommodation, meeting rooms and refreshments as required; meet and greet external visitors;
- Assist the Senior Director in processing work expenses;
- Work closely with the Business Manager supporting with business and workforce planning and budgeting, recruitment, business continuity and establishment lists;
- To build influential relationships with a wide range of internal stakeholders;
- Arranging team meetings, hybrid awaydays and scheduling agenda items; and supporting in the production of agendas and minutes;
- Provide support to both the management team and Project Directors as required;
- Providing cover for other PAs as required.
What you'll need to succeed
- Demonstrable experience of excellent organisational and working in an administrative support capacity including, but not limited to, diary management, prioritising heavy workflow and working proactively in a busy environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience of contributing through working as part of a team and building relationships across departments, inside and outside the organisation, across varying levels of seniority.
- Experience of working collegiately at PA level and supporting senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral with experience of tailoring to the needs of different audiences and experience of representing organisations to stakeholders.
- A strong knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Teams, Outlook, Word, SharePoint and Excel.

About the team
Community Services deliver crucial advice and support needed by individuals, families and communities impacted by the housing emergency, sharing knowledge to assert their housing rights and using the evidence gathered to push for systemic change. The team are based in our 11 hubs around England, and each is overseen by a Strategic Lead. They will report directly to you and the other Head of Community Services.
We work collaboratively with the wider Services team who deliver digital advice via our Telephone and Online Advice Services, as well as second tier advice for professionals, Legal Services, Lived Experience Insight and Quality, Compliance and Planning to ensure contract compliance and support.
The Services directorate has c600 staff and volunteers, operating from multiple locations throughout England.

You will support, inspire and motivate Hub teams, to successfully deliver homelessness and housing services through multiple funding streams. This is a new role in our structure, playing a key part in delivering capital investment programme in line with the business plan – whilst working closely with other members of the team to ensure we maintain compliance and maintenance. This is a great opportunity for a dynamic individual to make this role their own.
As part of the Asset Management team restructure, we have identified a need for a Building Surveyor to assist the Head of Asset Management to deliver Capital Investment programme. By bringing these skills in house, it is hoped to create a more dynamic role with the benefit of ability to oversee upcoming works and provide additional resources to areas we need additional expertise such as dilapidations, disrepair, HHSRS and damp and mould.
You will be involved in the specification writing process (unless specialist consultancy is required) and lead the procurement to ensure we are OJEU compliant in our appointment of the appropriate contractor. You will lead on the delivery of capital investment programme, ensuring planned works are appropriately procured to ensure value for money and adequately experienced/qualified contractors deliver works. You will also undertake and maintain stock condition surveys, undertake building surveys to complete dilapidations, complex repair scoping of works (and specification writing – where appropriate), disrepair, damp and mould inspections (more complex cases) and provision of technical expertise in absence of Head of Asset Management. In addition, you will support colleagues across the business to empower them to confidently make low level decisions themselves.
