Summary job description

Our Technical Knowledge team oversees Blue Ventures’ technical pillars (Secure Rights, Community-Based Fisheries Management, Food Security and Financial Inclusion) and supports the use of data for decision making, providing tools, training, and guidance to partners and Blue Ventures’ staff around the world. This team integrates expertise and deep practical experience with pragmatism and a desire to enable others to deliver lasting change, by distilling global best practices and knowledge into usable tools, appropriate training, and responsive guidance and support. The team is also responsible for delivering peer learning exchanges and knowledge sharing events both online and face to face across the organisation in addition to overseeing technical publications.

We are currently recruiting for an exceptional individual to be part of this global team, leading a critical pillar of the strategy on Food Security. This individual will oversee the Food Security function, including the development, refinement, and roll out of tools and training to support partners around the world as they establish initiatives targeting fish production, availability and affordability, to promote nutrition, food security and financial returns of fishers through assessments of the nutritional value of key fisheries, sustainable fisheries management, waste reduction initiatives, and interventions that increase the economic and nutritional value, as well as durability, of fish catch. These types of tools and materials include:

Intuitive to use and readily available, including software and mobile apps for data collection and interpretation, simple decision support tools for assessment, planning, and problem resolution, and community-level materials for common activities, such as meeting facilitation guides or decision-making tools to help communities decide which fish and fisheries to focus management attention on.

Manuals, guides, videos, and online materials that provide concise information and serve as self-learning tools, allowing partners to access and acquire knowledge at their own pace.

- Skill development:

As a Global Head, the position oversees regional and national colleagues to produce and iteratively improve the technical support, ensuring globally consistent guidance, while enabling context-specific differentiation among regions. The ability to work in a diverse and geographically dispersed team and to liaise and adapt techniques across different cultures will therefore be essential. The Blue Ventures Technical Knowledge team has a unique vantage point, gained through supporting dozens of partners working with hundreds of communities across South East Asia, the Western Indian Ocean, West Africa, and the Caribbean as well as being part of international fora and members of expert panels. As such our technical team plays a key role in identifying, collating, sharing, and transferring key insights and successful approaches, updating information, training, tools, and guidance around the world, and building a community of practice around each of the pillar themes.

At the heart of Blue Ventures’ 2030 strategy is an unwavering commitment to empowering communities through participatory collection, feedback, and use of fisheries and ecological data for adaptive management, and playing a leadership role in our sector to make this the norm. The Global Head - Food Security will have a strong understanding and technical experience of food security and nutrition programmes in coastal fishing communities and initiatives to reduce losses in catch value (both nutritional and financial), with proven skills in coaching and team building skills and effective management capacity in leading a multi-disciplinary team and working cross-functionally.

Blue Ventures recognises the key roles that women play in fisheries management and conservation as fishers, gleaners, processors, sellers and negotiators and seeks to highlight the important value of their roles in the fisheries value chain, that are often invisible, so that they also benefit. They will have extensive, practical experience of working with coastal communities in Africa, Asia, or Central America, and partnering with civil society organisations, non-governmental organisations, government institutions, and other stakeholders to identify and address fishing issues, placing communities at the heart of the solution.

The successful candidate will thrive in environments that are dynamic, fast-paced, collegiate, and ambitious, will have a proven track record in distilling complexity into easily interpretable material, able to deliver high-impact written work, and in communicating effectively with diverse audiences, ranging from fishing communities, practitioners, academic institutions, governments, the private sector, and other technical experts. They will feel comfortable representing the organisation externally.

The role entails leading an interdisciplinary and international team, with strong cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Technical Knowledge and will be based in one of our regional hubs, with regular overseas travel to work with partners and field teams around the world.

The core technical scope of the role’s portfolio will include:

- Data-driven assessments and interventions to improve food security and nutrition for healthy and resilient fishing communities, including nutrition education and supporting nutrition-sensitive fisheries management measures;

- Interventions to improve nutrition and financial returns for fishers operating in low-resource, data-limited fisheries, including through improved fishing techniques, transport, storing, processing, and marketing;

- Following and informing best practice and policy for improving fisher’s nutritional and financial returns.

Summary

ABOUT THE ROLE

The purpose of the Regional Safeguarding Lead role is to support safeguarding practice in dioceses and cathedrals across the Church of England.

As a Regional Safeguarding Lead, you will support the development of best safeguarding practices in one of eight regional clusters of Diocesan Boards of Finance (DBFs) and cathedrals. Providing professional supervision and quality assurance to Safeguarding Officers, you will support the implementation of the National Safeguarding Standards to encourage consistency of practice. You will also support Church bodies to respond to the findings of the Independent Safeguarding Audit Programme.

You will facilitate the sharing of best practices and resources, group supervision, and the commissioning of joint initiatives between Church bodies. Working closely with senior managers, senior clergy and other stakeholders, you will ensure Church-wide consistency in approach.

• Providing 1:1 professional supervision to Safeguarding Officers in dioceses and cathedrals, informed by the 4x4x4 integrated/restorative model of supervision (Morrisson & Wonnacott).
• Providing advice and guidance on individual cases and safeguarding-related situations.
• Using tools and frameworks to examine practices and processes ensuring the Church of England's National Safeguarding Standards are being consistently met or worked towards.
• Leading regional networks of safeguarding professionals from dioceses and cathedrals, and facilitating joint working, sharing of resources and other mutual support arrangements.
• Establishing effective relationships with key stakeholders within dioceses and cathedrals, in particular, their senior leadership teams.

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience of working at a strategic level, at least at the middle manager level, influencing decision-making and implementation. You'll have a case worker lead responsibility in cases involving the protection and safeguarding of children and/or vulnerable adults, and up-to-date knowledge of research and evidence-based practice models relevant to safeguarding.

You will also need:

• A professional qualification or equivalent experience relevant to safeguarding.

• The ability to apply safeguarding theory and good practice models in a way that delivers positive outcomes for children and/or vulnerable adults.
• Experience in leading organisation change and development, including cultural change, that results in improved outcomes for relevant stakeholders.

The coordinator roles are vital components of this project. We want to attract candidates from the South West of England with sound local knowledge and able to travel in the region - these will be important parts of this job.

Purpose of the roles:

• To be responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of Neighbourhood Watch’s partner project involving Neighbourhood Watch volunteers within the South West.
• Recruit, training and coordinate volunteers so they can deliver information sessions to community groups. 
• Research areas in needs of support and book venues where information sessions will be delivered by volunteers.
• Be able to travel to events in order to support volunteers and ensuring information sessions are delivered to the highest and consistent standards, and that feedback requests are acted upon swiftly.

Head of Strategic Finance

This is a senior and key role within the Finance Directorate. The Head of Strategic Finance will provide leadership, expertise, and hands-on support in the following areas

• Business Partnering and Development.
• Pricing Models, NPAC, and Cost Recovery Methodology.

Key Deliverables

Providing leadership advice and training to the business on financial models, leading annual and multi-year budget and forecast setting and analysis in consultation with the Finance Director.

Developing and maintaining a multi-year advanced financial modelling analysis with scenario indicators to drive decision-making and value for money, Pipeline Funding Management, Annual Central and Regional Staff budgeting and forecast and input into the year-end processes such as income recognition, expenditure accruals and prepayments on accuracy and completeness for Global Initiatives.

Ensuring value-added delivery and financial control analysis and resource allocation process concerning Finance input, manage and develop the staffing resources of the team.

Actively involved in problem solving and working collaboratively with the programme teams in the decision-making processes and co-leads the periodic budget re-allocation process with the Finance Director.

Working with the Head of Business Development, Director of Programmes, and Business Development Managers to develop and maintain grant management guidance and procedures.

Leading, training, supporting and developing the Finance Manager and three other staff members.

Strengthening a culture of financial awareness, supporting, and building the capacity within the Finance team and skills across the organisation and in partner organisations.

About You -We are looking for someone with substantial financial leadership experience.

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by experience.
• Proven track record of leading a finance team and providing professional finance business support, preferably within a fast-paced organisation.
• Experienced in preparing organisational budgets for an international or multi-site business.
• Experience of hands-on Financial Modelling, Multi-year Financial planning with Scenario analysis with recommendations to steer management decision.
• Experience in preparing and managing grant budgets, to ensure full cost recovery for the delivery organisation and full compliance with the donor requirements.
• Strong financial reporting skills. Experienced in preparing valuable management information, including insightful analysis and recommendations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Research and Development

· Design and lead research and development (R&D) programmes and projects, particularly on employment, job quality and the labour market

· Identify and secure income to fund projects, including through proactive approaches to funders and partners, and responding to tenders and calls for proposals

 Essential Skills:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Community Fundraising Team at Dementia UK, where you will help deliver our community strategy developing new opportunities and relationships with local groups and organisations.

As an experienced and dedicated Regional Fundraiser you will deliver excellent stewardship support, proactively managing and motivating volunteers to undertake fundraising and awareness activities, ensuring a sustainable, long-term revenue stream for Dementia UK.

The Talent Set are delighted to be working with a fantastic charity supporting young unaccompanied refugees in England who are looking for an Interim Head of Fundraising & Communications to join their team for an initial 6 months period.

The Head of Fundraising & Communications will operate as an effective member of the Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO and acting as the strategic lead for the charity’s fundraising and communications activity.

Given the fluctuating nature of statutory income (currently c.75% of total income) it will be the responsibility of the Head of Fundraising & Communications to develop and implement a fundraising strategy that enables the organisation to diversify its income portfolio, ensuring a sustainable funding model that spreads risk and allows for greater donor engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Head of Operations to work with the CEO and senior leadership team to manage a broad scope of operational functions, including workplace governance, people management, digital support, data and risk management. The Head of Operations will be a collaborative and hands-on professional with project and people management skills, a track record of operational change management, and the ability to inspire colleagues in new ways of working that ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the Foundation - driving system, quality and process improvements.

You will be joining us at an exciting time of development, as we open at our third site in Islington, welcome new members of staff to our team and begin work on a new strategy for 2025-2028. We have a strong track record of grant fundraising and seek someone who can support us to diversify our income, develop a fundraising strategy with a variety of income streams and bring experience and ideas to raise our profile. You will be part of a small and highly committed fundraising team of three including the existing Head of Fundraising and Communications, our Fundraising Officer and yourself. This role will focus on corporate, community, and major donor stewardship. Our work is hybrid and the role requires working both at the Centre in Islington and from home.
