The Advice Manager will take the lead on BIAS’s day-to-day advice services, managing a small team of advice specialists to ensure that we provide the highest-quality service to our clients. You will need to have strong people skills and the ability to build good working relationships with staff and clients, along with excellent organisational abilities to ensure that projects are delivered on time.

This role will also involve working with the leadership team to help identify areas for future development and support grant applications and reporting, which will give you the opportunity to have a direct impact on shaping the organisation’s future strategy and direction.

KEY WORK AREAS AND MAIN DUTIES

Staff management

• Managing a small advice team, ensuring the quality of the advice provided.
• Providing support and supervision to staff on the delivery of advice services, ensuring that appropriate advice is provided and casework deadlines are met.
• Ensuring good teamwork and lines of communication between staff, volunteers and partner agencies.
• Creating a positive working environment in which equality and diversity are promoted and staff can do their best.

Quality and service delivery

• Leading the welfare advice services, including contributing to possible future expansion.
• Maintaining a small personal caseload (approximately one day’s work per week).
• Working with the Operations Manager to ensure that BIAS maintains the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) and is successful in AQS renewal.
• Leading on monitoring service delivery, recording outcomes and ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
• Managing all aspects of risk relating to advice delivery, complaints handling, safeguarding and GDPR.

Operational support

• Working with the leadership team as required on operational matters, including planning, strategy for future development and grant applications and reporting.

BIAS is a local charity which has supported England’s largest Irish community in Brent for over forty-five years. We deliver our support through our welfare advice drop-in service, our Active Ageing Clubs and our Be-a-friend volunteer scheme. We raise over £1 million in extra income for the most vulnerable every year and have over 3000 attendances at our club services. BIAS has exciting plans for possible further expansion in 2024 and has a range of medium- to long-term grant funding, including from Ireland’s Emigrant Support Programme.

We are looking to recruit a Financial and Management Accountant- Commerical and Projects to join our team based in London. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £40,000 per annum.

Purpose of the Financial and Management Accountant role is to:

We are seeking to appoint a Financial and Management Accountant – Commercial and Projects for the Museum and its trading company (RAFMEL), as part of a small finance team. This is a varied role, encompassing a wide range of financial responsibilities, and the successful candidate will act as business partner to the RAFMEL commercial teams and Museum project leads, providing reporting and analysis to support decision-making, developing monthly performance reports to monitor progress and investigate variances, whilst also being responsible for day-to-day financial operations.

The successful candidate will be a qualified or part-qualified accountant with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with the small finance team and build relationships with non-finance heads of departments. You will be experienced in working to deadlines and have an attention for detail required to produce accurate first-time reports. Proficiency in Excel is essential and experience working with Sage200 is highly desirable.

Key responsibilities of our Financial and Management Accountant include:

• Taking responsibility for preparation and first review of monthly management accounts (including income and expenditure statement, balance sheet, cashflow statement, funds summary, 3 salary summary) and performance reports for RAFMEL, in an accurate and timely fashion, including any associated commentary and key performance indicators (KPI)
• Being responsible for accurate recording of all income and expenditure associated with RAFMEL and the Museum’s major projects
• Reconciliation of daily takings sheets reports from both sites and accurate monthly reporting of income by activity
• Preparation and posting of all journals for RAFMEL, such as accruals, prepayments deferred income, salaries and payroll, intercompany transactions
• Developing and providing performance reports to monitor progress, investigate variances and update forecasts for major projects for the Museum & RAFMEL as required, taking ownership of the processes required
• Identifying and agreeing performance indicators with senior managers for the Museum and establishing the processes for collecting the data
• Supporting coordination of formal Internal Audit reviews across the Museum and follow up on actions identified, working with the Director of Finance & Resources and Senior Leadership Team

What we are looking for in our Financial and Management Accountant:

• Full Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or overseas equivalents) or part qualified
• Experience with Sage200 accounting and reporting
• Is open and inviting of the views of others and is confident in constructively challenging views and proposals
• Communicates in a straightforward manner, demonstrating respect and acting with integrity and impartiality
• Recognises scope of own authority for decision making and empowers team members to make appropriate decisions

About the Role

This is an exciting role which will support MSI’s successful implementation of European Union funded projects to increase access to, and respect for, sexual and reproductive health and rights in sub-Saharan Africa. Working in close collaboration with national and international partners, including government Ministries and civil society partners, MSI is currently implementing two EU funded projects:

The “Youth for Health (Y4H)” project is an adolescent-focused multi-country programme which aims to expand access to life-changing adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (SRH) across six sub-Saharan African countries: Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Zambia. This is a flagship project for the EU within its SRH project portfolio and is implemented through a consortium of eight partners, which is led by MSI.

The ”Kelen Ya” project focuses on supporting women's and girls' civil society organisations to promote a favourable environment for socio-economic development in Mali. Led by MSI Mali and the Women in Law and Development (WILDAF), the project is funded by the EU delegation in Mali.

As a core member of MSI’s Global Programmes and Philanthropy (GPP) team, the GPP Manager (EU) will contribute to the successful implementation of these projects, taking responsibility for the management of sub-contracts for a number of consortium partners, supporting them to deliver their commitments and ensuring adherence to the compliance requirements of both the EU and of the other donors which will be co-financing the Y4H programme, in close coordination with MSI country programme leads.  The GPP Manager (EU) will also support the delivery of internal commitments by MSI’s Global Support Office and Country Programmes.  The GPP Manager (EU) will lead project management support for a portfolio of countries, working closely with MSI’s Africa Regional team, supporting consortium performance monitoring, risk management, work-planning, and monitoring. 

In addition, they will lead on key pieces of technical work under the programme, coordinating technical inputs across key thematic areas (such as advocacy, disability, or youth), interacting with technical leadership and Technical Working Group members from within the projects, as well as external agencies.  They will support the Head of EU Programmes to manage the external relationships critical to the success of the programme including with the EU at global and country level and with African institutions. 

This role is for a fixed, two-year period from June 2024 to June 2026, with the possibility of extension subject to donor funding.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Royal College of Physicians at a crucial time. The RCP is the oldest medical royal college representing doctors in over 30 specialties from cardiology and gastroenterology to geriatric and respiratory medicine.

The senior public affairs and policy manager will help us to understand the key policy issues in health and healthcare and lead our influencing work, developing the RCP’s networks, particularly in parliament and government.

You will help manage and oversee a portfolio of high-profile work across a range of topics, proactively identifying opportunities for the RCP to influence the agenda and working with RCP fellows and members to shape and progress our campaigns. You will lead and manage our public affairs work, contributing your expertise to design and lead influencing strategies, campaign planning and policy development for a range of issues.

You will have demonstrable experience of developing and delivering successful influencing strategies, using a range of parliamentary influencing tactics to achieve policy change. You will be as comfortable speaking to parliamentarians and briefing senior leaders for meetings as you are writing consultation responses and policy briefings. About the role

This hands-on role will lead the implementation of global communications strategies for ITF’s Land and

Air Sections (LAS): Aviation, Railways, Road Transport, Tourism and Urban Transport.

The LAS Communications Manager will work closely with the industrial sections and affiliates to push forward a union-led agenda for the aviation and inland transport industries.

Working within a multi-disciplinary team, this role will work collaboratively to deliver and evaluate forward-thinking communication strategies for these industrial work programs and their priority campaigns. About the Role

As Senior Philanthropy Manager within our Fundraising Team, you will focus and lead on:

• External facing relationship manager, both building new relationships and effectively stewarding existing ones 
• Support the High Value Lead to set budgets and conduct regular reforecasting

Who we are

The problem - On average, 160 young people are excluded from school each week. Once excluded, prospects for these young people are bleak, with only 4% achieving good GCSE grades, and 67% entering sustained education, employment or training compared to 96% of their non-excluded peers. This can be a pipeline to prison, with concerning statistics showing 63% of prisoners having been excluded from school.

Our mission - To ensure that young people who have been excluded from school are not excluded from society.

Who we serve - We support the hardest to reach young people in the most disadvantaged communities, each of whom are most at risk of experiencing school exclusion or are at risk of being excluded. Young people who are eligible for free school meals are 4x more likely to get excluded, along with black Caribbean boys. Young people with special educational needs are also six times as likely to be excluded as their peers.

Our work - We work in a number of different settings both during term time and after school. Our coaches lead small groups of 8-10 young people, using sport as a hook and mentorship as an anchor to develop their soft skills, as well as improve their physical & mental wellbeing. This, coupled with exposure to the work place through Career Taster Days, raises their aspirations and puts young people in a better position to enter sustained education, employment or training (EET) when they leave school.
