The South East Cancer Help Centre (SECHC) is a highly successful and well-established charity in operation for 40 years with modern premises located in central Purley with free parking and close to the station. Working closely with the public health sector, we provide therapies, counselling and group activities to those affected by cancer.

SECHC aims to give any person affected by cancer an opportunity to explore ways which may help them to cope with their situation. Confidentiality is always maintained. The Centre aims to respect and support them in the choices they make and to provide individual and group support, complementary therapies and information within a friendly, caring environment. About the Role

We are seeking an experienced community fundraiser who will play an instrumental role in our established as well as new fundraising events, community engagement, stewardship, increasing awareness of the Centre as well as income generation.

What You'll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Engage, inspire and encourage supporters, schools, community groups and high street businesses fundraising on behalf of the charity, helping them to achieve their full potential by providing a positive supporter journey.
2. Inspire new supporters to raise money, while maintaining and developing relationships with existing supporters, securing sustainable growth of income and supporter numbers
3. Research and approach local businesses to gain support from them and their customers through fundraising e.g sponsorship of events, cause related marketing and social media platforms
4. Represent SECHC at fundraising meetings, presentations and events outside of normal office hours (evenings and weekends) as required (toil given)
5. Sourcing supporter case stories to support fundraising and impact reporting.
6. Proactively seek opportunities for fundraising events both at the Centre and within the local community.

As Regular Giving Officer, you will play a critical role in growing and maintaining income at the Hospice of St Francis and in positioning us as the local charity of choice amongst our community. 

Reporting into the Head of Philanthropy and working closely with the rest of the Fundraising Department, as well as with the Communications and Volunteering Departments, you will personally manage and grow the Hospice of St Francis’s Regular and Mid-Level Giving Programme, also known as Friends of St Francis.

You will forge strong working relationships and collaborate closely with the Communications Department, responsible for Appeal Giving, and the Wellbeing Department, responsible for in-memory giving and the Light up a Life programme, together establishing an integrated individual giving programme.

The Friends of St Francis was established in 2024, following a full review of the programme and has just marked its first anniversary. This role will be responsible for reviewing, developing and implementing a strategy that will ensure the retention and recruitment of regular givers through refining the offering and providing a thoughtful engagement plan. You will also be responsible for developing a new mid-value Friends segment, ensuring its alignment with the Major Donor programme and other offerings.

With an eye to growing income, you will also explore and implement options to grow the supporter base, including payroll giving and testing the conversion of one-time donors. You will also consider options to optimise the programme for the digital age, taking into consideration the demographic of our supporters.

This is an exciting role with lots of potential to utilise your skills and test and implement different strategies to grow the regular giving base at the Hospice of St Francis.

Strategy Development and Implementation

· Review, develop and implement a regular giving strategy, incorporating the Friends of St Francis Programme and testing new initiatives such as Payroll Giving and index-linked giving

· Strong data analysis skills and experience of utilising segmented data to improve supporter engagement, and improve life-time value

· Experience of creating engaging supporter communications – both digital and in print

You will provide operational support to the team, help maximise revenue and deliver impactful environmental programmes. We’re looking for a Senior STH Practitioner who can manage the delivery of high quality and effective Social and Therapeutic Horticulture (STH) programmes in London for adults and young people with a range of disabilities and health conditions.

Project Officer – Active Journeys

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This is a fantastic chance to join the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, working within the Active Journeys team as our new Project Officer. 

As the Project Officer you will be required to play a dynamic role in delivering a variety of walking, wheeling, and cycling projects that make a real difference to people's lives. 

In this varied role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering practical activities for young people in schools, supporting the implementation of School Streets to create safer and healthier environments, and working closely with the National Cycle Network and Infrastructure teams on community engagement for related schemes. You will engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, building strong relationships to ensure the successful delivery of projects, and will also be responsible for integrating Sustrans volunteers into your work to help maximise impact and community involvement. 

This role involves regular travel, with work taking place at different locations to support and deliver projects for the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust. 

ABOUT YOU 

We ask that you have experience in the following areas: 

• Experience of managing small clearly defined projects or experience of delivering work packages as part of a project.
• Experience of working as part of a team and building meaningful and collaborative relationships, both internally and externally.
• Understanding of active travel and issues facing communities that experience inequalities.   
• Knowledge and understanding of behaviour change theories and tools.
• Knowledge and experience of applying health and safety procedures including risk assessment
• Knowledge of safeguarding principles.
• Experience of leading group workshops and presenting to audiences online and in person.

Background to the role

Job description

Job Purpose

• The home and settle service works collaboratively with hospitals to support people when they are discharged from hospital to return home. You will provide temporary practical and emotional support to service users within their home and make sure they understand the care and treatment choices available to them. The service is time limited, usually up to 6 weeks, to adjust and settle back in their homes. 

Key Tasks

•  Assess the needs of service users in hospital before discharge, and in their homes, and understand what barriers and enablers there might be to moving home.
• Aid the discharge process and improve patient experience through tasks such as key cutting and co-ordinating with colleagues for the setup of the home environment.
• Provide (and/or arrange) the practical and emotional support needed to enable service users to move home and/or remain safely at home.
• Be vigilant and make referrals/signpost for additional needs that our wider team, or partners can support. E.g. for benefit checks, energy advice, carers support, befriending. 
• Help maximise service user independence by adopting an enabling approach.
• Develop a listening and caring relationship with the service user and their families/carers.
• Provide domestic practical support within the home e.g. light cleaning, washing, ironing (service user clothing only) etc.
• Prepare and service drinks and simple meals with or for the service user customer ensuring nutritional needs are met in accordance with individual support plan.
• Accompany service user outside the home e.g. hospital/GP appointments etc.
• Support customers with other tasks e.g. making telephone calls on their behalf, reading and responding to correspondence, completing simple forms (training will be provided) as directed by the customer etc.
• Ensure services provided by AUKEL in the community are safe and person centred.
• Report safeguarding concerns, in accordance with AUKEL safeguarding procedures.
• Work within AUKEL’s expectations of professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Provide cover in the case of sickness and annual leave periods of colleagues.
• Support service user reviews, ensuring all visiting information is uploaded on to AUKEL’s organisational case management system.
• Meet with volunteers to provide support and guidance.
• Work with a range of professionals including:
• Supporting health and social care professionals with patient discharge
• Liaising with the Hospital health and social care professionals to facilitate smooth supported discharge.

Administration

• Input all records, reviews, and visiting information to service user’s case notes in a timely manner to maintain up-to-date and accurate records on AUKEL’s case management system (currently Charity Log/Call-round App).
• Report all “no access” failed visits, or changes in service users’ condition or circumstances in accordance with AUKEL’s policies and procedures.
• Ensure service user comment sheets are completed.
• Support the return of Customer Comment sheets and general feedback in respect of your own service users.

Quality

• Ensure services provided in the community are delivered in line with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) principles.
• Deliver all work in line with AUKEL quality mark standards.
• Commit to undertaking the Care Certificate, if not already held or in possession of NVQ level 2.
• Complete essential training as required by AUKEL to provide safe services.

Liaison

• Work in collaboration with other agencies providing support within the customer's home.
• Work under the direction of the service manager and project officers.
• Represent AUKEL and participate in appropriate external meetings and events to remain aware of local, regional, and national issues affecting quality and compliance issues affecting care and home support services. Head of Hospital and Home Services
