• Develop and implement strong strategic plans and put these into action in a scalable and sustainable way

• Create strategic relationships, collaborative partnerships outside the charity and act as an ambassador and advocate for Blue Light Card Foundation 

• Represent Blue Light Card Foundation at senior meetings within the blue light sector 

• Oversee and implement recruitment, selection, training, development and performance management of colleagues 

• Monitor the effectiveness of Blue Light Card Foundation’s work in making a difference and implement change in response to feedback and data 

• Ensure the health and safety and safeguarding of the blue light community is supported by Blue Light Card Foundation programmes 

• Ensure that Trustees are kept well-informed of key developments in Blue Light Card Foundation and provided with sufficient financial and management information to enable them to exercise their statutory responsibilities 

• Manage the charity budget and produce regular financial reports and forecasts

• Implement sound, sustainable funding plans, oversee fundraising activities ensuring these meet the needs of the foundation 

• Develop and implement integrated campaigns, effective marketing channels and media strategy, reporting on impact and raising the charity presence and profile

• Ensure full and accurate reporting including the preparation of an annual report and financial statements to the Charity Commission

• Senior leadership experience within the charity sector including leading teams in demanding public-facing roles

The Meridian One Community Garden serves as a space where we focus on cultivating fruit, salad, and vegetable produce. We involve the local community by hosting weekly volunteer gardening sessions, welcoming school visits, and organising various community events.

TCV is seeking a Senior Project Officer with expertise in community engagement, event coordination, and managing community facilities. The garden, which was established one year ago, encompasses facilities such as an office, a community meeting/education room, toilets, and a spacious polytunnel.

The Senior Project Officer will oversee a range of tasks including planning and executing community events, maintaining site Health & Safety, leading volunteers in practical projects like building wooden planters, tending to garden plants, and ensuring timely completion of administrative duties such as procurement, risk assessments, social media updates, and task reporting. They will also lead activities for the under 5’s Nature Explorers group, school visits, themed evening events, and family weekends. Additionally, they'll organise corporate volunteering sessions and cover holiday shifts for the Green Gym gardening program. Previous events have included 'Pampering and Enrichment,' 'Repurpose, Recycle, Reinvent' workshops, and a Black Women in Conservation and Horticulture photo exhibition, as well as our weekend family events featuring free food, music, and arts and crafts activities.

This role involves being friendly and open to various people who visit, from the toddlers attending the Nature Explorers club, to our volunteer gardeners, to senior staff from the local authority. There are two other people working part-time at the garden, and TCV provides thorough training and support from a helpful local team.

Ideally, we’re looking for someone with experience of gardening and/or nature conservation. However, what’s equally important is that the Senior Project Officer has initiative, is welcoming, and comfortable working with a wide range people. We’d therefore welcome applications from candidates who can display those personable qualities, with perhaps experience of working in a community centre setting.

In Spring 2024, TCV will be taking on the management of an additional nearby meanwhile space. The new Senior Project Officer will join us at an exciting time when we begin to turn that space into a new community tree nursery. Working with local people to gather seeds from significant trees in the surrounding area, we aim to grow saplings which will go on to be distributed for planting around London.

Working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Given the nature of the role the Senior Project Officer will need to work from the garden during these times. Occasionally, to avoid lone working in the absence of another colleague, there will be the opportunity to work from home. Weekend family events take place on Saturdays, four times a year and there are approximately six evening events which take place between April to September. This post holder would be expected to attend those evening and weekend events.

Summary of the role:

This role will provide day-to-day administrative support and project support to the department head and the overall team to ensure the successful delivery of the organisation’s operations in an efficient manner. This role will focus on generating reports, tracking progress, and ensuring all the necessary processes relating to compliance, finance and HR are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

About the Role:

1. Develop a thorough understanding of Muslim Aid’s work areas in order to ensure strategic linkages / appropriate dissemination of information or assignment of actions.
2. Develop, maintain and review administrative systems to achieve maximum efficiency and to have high-level exposure across the organisation including admin, finance, IT, HR, supporter services, IP, comms etc.
3. Prepare purchase orders and document payments according to Muslim Aid’s financial procedure and in conjunction with the Finance team to ensure speedy payment of invoices for internal / external stakeholders.
4. Assist the Head of Income Generation and Marketing with the preparation of PowerPoint presentations, documents, briefing papers, action points and reports as requested and to track work across all relevant departments to ensure the nominated Manager undertakes action within the agreed timeframe.
5. Provide administrative support to Head of Income Generation and Marketing in preparing and drafting correspondence, booking meetings, minute-taking, planning and supporting events, organising travel and preparing travel itineraries and relevant tasks as required by the Head of Income Generation and Marketing.
6. Be the gatekeeper and first point of contact to stakeholders, assessing priorities, redirecting calls, enquiries, and face to face meeting appointments.

Key Purpose:

Engage with staff and volunteers at a local and national level across RABI as well as with key external stakeholders and partners to influence compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures. Support the Senior Service Delivery Manager to implement RABI’s reporting through maintenance of effective internal recording and reporting systems (CPOMS). Key Responsibilities:

· Work alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead to develop and enhance safeguarding practice within the organisation.

· Act as one of the first points of contact for all staff, volunteers and external queries in all matter of safeguarding.

· Daily oversight of our safeguarding system CPOMS. Follow up on any queries relating to CPOMS and develop training materials to support staff and volunteers in this area.

· Provide the Designated Safeguarding Lead with monthly report to feed into longer-term safeguarding planning.

· Work alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead to develop and deliver safeguarding training and support sessions for staff and volunteers to create an annual training plan.

· Effectively engage with staff and volunteers at a local and national level to ensure safeguarding escalations and approaches are understood through the organisation.

· If required travel to RABI volunteer groups to provide safeguarding support.

Person Specification:

Essential

· Experience of working as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

· Relevant up to date training in the specialist area of Safeguarding

We are seeking to appoint two experienced Safeguarding Officers on a permanent contract; altogether 1.3 full-time equivalent between the two posts, with hours being negotiable with successful candidates.The post holders will have a relevant professional qualification and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of direct safeguarding practice with vulnerable adults or children or both. We’re looking for an experienced trainer to lead on the implementation and delivery of the Learning and Development framework issued by the House of Bishops.

• Be responsible for the organisation, implementation and delivery of the national safeguarding learning and development framework  
• Provide high quality face to face and online training to office holders (Clergy, Readers, those with Permission to Officiate), employees and volunteers in the Diocese of Coventry.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the national training and adapt materials as appropriate for the diocese.
• Network and liaise with safeguarding trainers from other dioceses and be part of the regional and national training network to share knowledge and best practice.
• Assist in supporting a small team of volunteer trainers capable of delivering training within the Diocese of Coventry.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of national and local safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Be responsible for safeguarding training administration
• In conjunction with the DSA, undertake continual evaluation, review and monitoring of the learning and development framework and other training materials so that they are kept up-to-date with new legislation, guidelines and best practice in safeguarding.
• Be responsible for safeguarding training information on different platforms
• In liaison with the DSA/ADSA, respond to and act upon requests for advice, information and guidance from individuals in the church who are concerned about the welfare of a child or adult at risk of harm.
• To undertake any other activity within the scope of the safeguarding team’s work, and the role-holder’s skills and experience, as reasonably requested by the DSA.

The post holder is an employee of the Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF) and is line managed by the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor.

An enhanced DBS check will be required.

About the Safeguarding Officer role:

The organisation has a strong safeguarding ethos promoting the overall safety, safeguarding and welfare of all of our members. We are seeking individuals who have experience of the voluntary youth or community sector or other relevant professional field and have direct practice experience of working with children & young people in a safeguarding context.  You will have experience and knowledge of statutory requirements, understand Early Help and best practice guidance, relating to the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

• Assessing and managing safeguarding allegations against those involved in the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC) and concerns about the welfare of children engaged in SCC activities

• Attending strategy meetings,  networking meetings, external meetings etc. as required

The Role of Safeguarding Administrator

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Coventry Diocesan Safeguarding team as a Safeguarding Administrator. 

You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work successfully with a range of stakeholders. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written will be key, as well as working collaboratively within a team.

The main responsibilities of the Safeguarding Administrator are:

• To provide effective and efficient administrative and logical support to the diocesan safeguarding team ensuring that all systems contribute to the delivery of high-quality service and the smooth running of the diocesan safeguarding teams work.
• Overseeing the team’s diary management, booking internal and external meetings
• Minute taking meetings including safeguarding meetings
• Screening calls and emails for the diocesan safeguarding team from a range of stake holders including those who may have vulnerabilities, using your initiative to respond to enquiries, delegate safeguarding referrals to the relevant members of the team
• Maintain and update relevant databases and recording systems, ensuring accurate records
• Be responsible for DBS administration of Parish Safeguarding Officers
• Developing knowledge of safeguarding policy to advise appropriately on matters relating to general parish safeguarding such as safer recruitment, training and parish dashboard
• Provide general administrative support, as deemed appropriate by the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor

Reporting to: Operations Director & Fundraising Manager

Location: Flexible and remote working is offered to all of our staff. We have an office based in Colindale, London, which we tend to work around two days per week, with two days remote working.

About the Role: This is an interesting and varied role. As the post holder you'll be not only be setting up, administering and delivering schemes and activities to benefit Barnet’s looked after young people, you'll also be creating marketing materials and supporting fundraising events.  Promoting the work of our charity is key too through updating our website, writing our quarterly newsletter and social media channels, as well as supporting the running and administration of the charity. 

About You:

You'll have experience of managing and delivering projects, schemes or activities and supporting administrative tasks including keeping accurate records, financial tracking and expenditure.
 
You'll also have experience of creating engaging content for newsletters, websites and/or social media channels especially Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram and building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver common goals.

We are looking to recruit a HOPELINE247 Manager to enable the delivery of an outstanding suicide prevention helpline, through the effective management of HOPELINE247 advisers, alongside the promotion and development of the service.

What you will do:

Provide leadership, guidance, and effective line management to a team of suicide prevention advisers.

Ensure a consistent and high-quality service is delivered through effective quality assurance processes.

Manage staffing and resources effectively to ensure the efficient running of the helpline service.

Provide ad hoc rota cover to support a range of clients via multi-channel communications, adhering to HOPELINE247 remit at all times.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous experience of building, developing and managing effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in the community, voluntary, statutory and political settings.

Previous successful experience of working in suicide prevention or mental health.

Salary: £34,224 per annum (Scale point 29), progressing by increments to £36,869.25 per annum (Scale point 32). As a night shift worker, you will receive an additional allowance of £10 per night shift. This will be paid on a monthly basis along with the salary.

Working arrangements: This role will work shifts starting at 10:25pm and finishing at 07:40am. Shifts will be on a rota bases across a 7-day working week. 33 hours will be based upon working 4 nights shifts per week.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Strategy and Operations

1. Develop, implement, and lead execution of the charity's annual operational plan and 3-year strategic plan.

2. Identify appropriate level of staffing, volunteering, ensuring that all staff and volunteers are appropriately interviewed, vetted, inducted, trained, developed, and supported to deliver against their objectives.

3. Ensure appropriate upkeep, security, and management of the charity’s premises, including all relevant contracts and payments.

4. Ensure that the charity’s IT systems are fit for purpose and compliant with relevant law.

People

5. Line management of seven staff members, and responsibility for staff and team development, cohesion and appraisals.

6. Recruit and support social club facilitators and appropriate consultants to provide additional resource to the charity as required.

7. Lead staff member for safeguarding, liaising directly with Hammersmith and Fulham Adult Social Care.

8. Ensure appropriate mechanisms and safeguards are in place to support up to 100 regular volunteers, and up to 100 additional corporate/student volunteers.

9. Ensure appropriate mechanisms and safeguards are in place to support up to 500 beneficiaries and additional attendees at FGN events.

Finance and Fundraising

10. Develop, implement, and lead charity’s financial and fundraising planning and management, ensuring that the charity operates at least at break-even, ideally with a small surplus.

11. Ensure that the charity has a diverse range of income across various streams, inclusive of (but not limited to) public sector, trusts and foundations, corporate income, events, and online giving.

12. Ensure that the charity is receiving value for money with all expenditure, ensuring contract review on a timely basis as appropriate.

13. Ensure appropriate cashflow projections so that expenditure does not exceed income in any one year unless pre-agreed with trustees.

14. Ensure that appropriate financial controls are in place so to protect charity and anyone handling money on behalf of the charity.

15. In conjunction with the finance administrator and hon. treasurer monitor all income, expenditure, accounts, funding investments and budgets.

Governance

16 Ensure compliance with charity and company law, inclusive of writing, presentation and filing of annual report and accounts and other Company Secretary duties.

17 Organise, attend, record and report at board meetings every two months, inclusive of finance and operations reporting and the regular cycle of governance reviews.

18 Plan, organise and attend AGM and annual strategy session.

19 Ensure appropriate level of risk management and insurance are in place for the charity.

20 Ensure all relevant policies, procedures and financial controls are in place, inclusive of annual review.

Communications and Impact

21. Represent and promote the charity in public, sourcing media opportunities as appropriate so to increase visibility.

22. Represent the charity on appropriate networks and forums so to develop stakeholder relationships and source opportunities for cross-partner collaboration.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential requirements
