This academic year, we will be expanding our work significantly, supporting close to 3,000 young people from Cornwall to Northumberland. The majority of this growth will be through a one-year project we are running in partnership with the Education Endowment Foundation.
This project is a randomised control trial (RCT) of our Peer to Peer coaching programme, where we will be working with an additional 50 new secondary schools. We have seen consistently strong impact from this programme on the attainment, social & emotional development, and school attendance of disadvantaged young people for many years. This EEF supported RCT now gives us the opportunity to test this impact at significant scale, specifically on the maths attainment, maths self-efficacy, and school attendance of disadvantaged Y10 and Y7 pupils.
To support with the delivery of this work, we are looking to recruit a part time (2-3 days per week) Programme Manager based in Cornwall, to start as soon as possible, and deliver programmes through to July 2026. We welcome applications from candidates seeking either a fixed-term or freelance contract, depending on individual circumstances.
You will have end-to-end ownership of your own allocation of programmes, which may involve a mixture of Peer to Peer, Core and LifeCycle programmes. Whilst delivering our programmes you will be required to build excellent relationships with our school and university partners, support with training and developing our undergraduate volunteers, use our evaluation frameworks to assess impact, and lead on conversations related to retention and expansion.
Candidates will be required to travel to secondary schools across Cornwall, with occasional trips to Plymouth and other locations in the South West. Access to a car will be required. At times team members may be asked to travel to a location outside of their region, but this will be rare and sufficient notice and TOIL will be given where appropriate.
The majority of direct delivery in schools will begin in November.
Whilst there is the potential for a permanent role beyond the length of this project, this will be based on our levels of school retention and business development, and so cannot be guaranteed.

Role details Managing and delivering programmes
● Coordinate and run multiple in-school and online programmes, typically requiring travel to schools most working days.
● Set timelines for programme start and finish dates.
● Oversee programme quality and communicate with school staff weekly to provide feedback after sessions.
● Facilitate in-school or digital workshops for groups of pupils, typically Key Stage 3 and 4.
● Plan and organise graduation trips to a local university for pupils on the programme.
● Collect data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, such as pre and post programme questionnaires, attendance records, and pupil and coach feedback.
● Report regularly to the Programmes Team Leader on key performance indicators and programme updates.
● Build and maintain high quality relationships with pupils, schools, and universities.
● Collect data and write impact reports and case studies for each programme. Expanding our reach and impact:
● Ensure retention of schools and universities within the region by delivering high quality programmes, and leading retention, renewal, and expansion conversations with partners.

● Contribute to programme design, take part in a working group and whole team meetings.
● Gather and create content for social media and marketing materials.

Person Specification Essential characteristics and experience
Below are the key attributes candidates will need to be confident of demonstrating.
● Passion for social mobility. We have big aims and are looking for those who share our desire to make education fairer in the UK.
● Ability to think on your feet. Delivering programmes with young people can be unpredictable, so you will need to be comfortable working reactively to solve challenges at short notice.
● Programme or project management experience. In particular the ability to be organised, plan ahead, and manage competing priorities and timelines.
● Experience with young people. Comfortable running a session or delivering a workshop with a group of young people from age 8-18. (Please note, the vast majority of our programmes are at secondary phase).
● Relationship building and facilitating. This is a public-facing role so you will be involved in communicating and delivering workshops to groups as well as communicating our mission to a wide range of stakeholders (business leaders, senior members of MATs, universities etc.).
● Excellent communication skills, particularly public speaking. You should be comfortable talking to groups of 5 or 500.
● Ability to make quick and clear decisions.
Desired characteristics and experience

The role of Retail Development Manager is crucial to the income growth and audience reach of The Children’s Trust retail function. The postholder will be responsible for researching, developing and establishing new income streams to reach new audiences and drive footfall for a disperse network of charity shops, including establishing the online selling of donated and bought in (New) goods; management of online and digital selling platforms and associated stakeholders, ensuring that all compliance requirements are fulfilled.
The role will work collaboratively as part of the Retail Management Team to develop and deliver long-term growth plans to drive voluntary income growth and increase footfall and to lead on new business initiatives.
Role Requirements
- Research opportunities to recommend, test and rollout new online and digital selling platforms. Introduce associated systems and processes to achieve compliance.
- Working with the Retail Sales Manager, identify and source donated product lines and items for listing and selling through online and digital selling platforms. Share learnings to source quality stock to drive sales.
- Create a new online offer to complement and integrate within our existing retail portfolio of shops across Surrey, Sussex and Kent. Develop processes to manage online and digital selling: inventory, listing, pick, pack and despatch of online stock, including organising the logistics for deliveries to customers and collections to meet both shops and customer requirements.
- Manage the development and optimisation of online and digital selling platforms and make recommendations for rapid growth and new business proposals.
- Work with the Retail Sales Manager and Marketing and Communications team to create assets and content that can be used in store, online, through owned channels to maximise opportunities, sales promotions and seasonal changes across the chain of shops.
- Research and implement efficiencies in reducing waste disposal costs for shops estate including items no longer purchased through Rag merchants.
- Research and recommend new income streams for the sale of unsold donated items to mitigate low return through Rag merchants.
- Manage full compliance of the Children’s Trust online and digital selling platforms in line with all Health & Safety legislation, Fire safety, Trading Standards, Retail Gift Aid, GDPR, ThankQ CRM, Risk Assessments, Safeguarding and all other legal or statutory requirements.
- Develop and manage risk assessments and associated online selling policy protocols to prevent reputational damage to The Children’s Trust through digital and online trading activities.
- Manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships including supplier contracts, internal support teams, ensuring that efficient and compliant services are maintained.

We are seeking a dynamic and driven fundraiser to be our Trusts and Foundations Manager. The Sutton Trust is at an exciting point in our organisational journey, with a new Chairperson and ambitions to significantly grow our impact and fundraising as part of our 2030 strategy.
Over the past five years the impact of the Sutton Trust has increased, especially in our programme numbers, securing a relatively stable income of c.£6m over a number of years. In recent years this has grown to c.£7m, and our organisational strategy to 2030 will continue this fundraising trajectory to increase income to £12m. Trusts and foundations income currently accounts for c.37% of our fundraising, and we know there is considerable enthusiasm and opportunity in the grant-making world for building strategic partnerships with us.
Our fundraising approach will continue to focus on major gifts and strategic multi-year partnerships, leveraging a range of drivers to secure Trust, Foundation and Statutory support. There is significant opportunity to build mid-level income (£50k-£100k) from family and organisational trusts/foundations, in which the Manager will play a pivotal role, as well as completing a deep dive into the team’s extensive prospect pipeline.
The Role and Team
As Trusts and Foundations Manager, you will be an experienced, proactive relationship manager and fundraiser. You will be confident in securing new business through active prospecting and networking, along with securing and stewarding funding relationships with a wide variety of Trusts, Foundations, Statutory and organisational donors. With an entrepreneurial mindset for income generation, the postholder will be able to confidently manage competing demands to balance securing new funding and delivering high quality stewardship and grant management to a portfolio of current and prospective supporters.
The role will manage a growing portfolio of mid-level Trusts, Foundations, and organisational donors (predominantly £50k-£100k), while also providing strategic support on grant management of our major Trust and Foundation partners. This will include compiling key reports and support of gathering and analysing programmatic data.
The role sits in the Trusts and Foundations team of the Development Department and is managed by the Head of Trusts and Foundations. All team members work on both new business and grant/account management, with ambitious individual income targets. You will work closely with colleagues across both the Development Department and the wider organisation.
Main duties
New Business
- Undertake prospect research into trusts and foundations, statutory opportunities (contracts or grants) and organisational funders in collaboration with the Head of Trusts and Foundations, and other senior staff and senior volunteers. This includes identification, due diligence, qualification, and creating briefings and outreach plans.
- Work with the Head of Trusts and Foundations to cultivate a prospect pool of potential donors, looking at lapsed supporters, the prospect pipeline, stakeholder network mapping through the Board and Trustees, as well as funders with an active interest in education / social mobility.
- Submit compelling funding proposals and reports to mid-level trusts, foundations, statutory and organisational donors to secure income (predominately £50k - £100k) for the Trust. Work alongside other Development team and wider organisation members to ensure high-quality submissions.
- Alongside team members, manage the shared Development inbox to ensure all enquiries are dealt with in a prompt, consistent, and friendly manner.
- Follow all relevant policies and processes to ensure due diligence is completed for prospective donors and account management plans are kept up to date.
Account Management and Development
- Manage and grow a portfolio of mid-level trusts, foundations, statutory supporters and organisational donors, delivering impactful stewardship (e.g. impact reporting) while meeting all donor reporting requirements to maximise financial income and partnership longevity.
- Support senior team members on strategic management of our major trust and foundation partners, including leading on compiling key impact reports, coordinating meetings, attending programme visits, event invites, writing targeted donor communications and reporting.
- Work with the Head of Fundraising Operations to compile and analyse key programmatic data for use by the Development team in their grant reporting.
- Be accountable for achieving agreed trusts and foundations income targets, looking for opportunities to grow funding and diversify income for this stream.
- Ensure all record keeping and administration relating to trusts and foundations income is maintained, up-to-date, and processed in accordance with GDPR and Sutton Trust policies and procedures.
Fundraising Finance and Reporting
- Act as an ambassador for the Trust with external audiences, delivering presentations and providing expertise as required.
- Work with colleagues to deliver impactful events to cultivate prospects and steward partners, with a focus on experience for trust and foundation supporters and prospects.
- Work with colleagues across Development and Finance to ensure accurate forecasting, income tracking and reporting for trusts and foundations income, through the Trust’s CRM (Salesforce), account management plans, and all relevant income pipeline documents.
- Ensure you appropriately follow policies and procedures on due diligence, Salesforce and data management, account management, stewardship, and reporting.
- Stay up to date with grant fundraising best practice, learning from senior members of the team, and keep abreast of developments and opportunities within the wider fundraising space.
- Other duties as necessary from time to time.
Person Specification
We welcome applications from individuals who have:
- Experience in successfully securing, managing, and developing Trust, Foundation, Statutory or organisational donor partnerships at five figures or above, from initial prospect research to securing income and ongoing grant management.
- Experience building and managing relationships, particularly in the philanthropic sector with organisational donors.
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to write compelling proposals and impact reports, or pitch to audiences with the intent of persuading them to your point of view or secure a specific outcome.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to summarise information from readily available sources clearly and concisely.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and tasks to successfully achieve project or other goals.
- Excellent prospect research skills and strong analytical skills.
- First-class interpersonal skills - a natural ambassador able to represent the Sutton Trust with confidence in a range of settings.
- Knowledge of fundraising in the education and/or not-for-profit sector.
- Experience using CRM software (ideally Salesforce) to accurately record funding relationships (desirable).
And someone who is:
- Sympathetic to the aims of the Trust and its mission to address educational disadvantage and increase social mobility.
- Able to take the initiative and take responsibility for a wide variety of tasks and projects.

Terms of Appointment
- Contract: Full-time, Permanent
- Salary: £43,000-£48,000
- Working location: Minimum of two office days per week. Our home working policy gives staff the option to - work from home for up to 60% of the time, with approval from their line manager.
- Office location: The Sutton Trust, 9th Floor, Millbank Tower, 21-24 Millbank, London, SW1P 4QP.
- Hours: The standard working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. This role is likely to also be required to attend events / meetings outside of normal working hours during weekday evenings and occasionally at weekends, in line with organisational policies.

Purpose of the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join an evolving and growing fundraising team with a new, ambitious strategy for income generation that the whole charity, senior management and Trustees are right behind.
The role itself is new as Cerebra looks to invest in and significantly grow and develop a new mass participation events programme (which includes schools fundraising products). You’ll work closely with the Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications who has a strong background in events and community fundraising.
You will lead the development of virtual/digital fundraising events, challenge/3rd party events, in-person owned events, DIY events and our relationships with schools. In time, you will build and foster relationships with other community organisations. You will be responsible for growing the team as the programme expands. Innovation and product development are key areas of work.
You will play key role in the Fundraising Marketing & Communications directorate and developing our fundraising, audience and supporter engagement strategy.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
1. New events programme
- Develop a multi-year events programme incorporating virtual/digital events, challenge/3rd party events, in-person own events and DIY.
- Project manage the delivery of the events in the programme to raise £295k in 2026.
- Develop multi-channel marketing plans for recruitment, focusing on key audiences.
- Develop multi-channel supporter journeys and top-class supporter experience to deepen engagement and increase income.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on income, expenditure, and supporter acquisition across the events programme and make decisions about where to invest time and resources, accordingly.
- Develop necessary assets, such as fundraising packs. Digital platforms, digital rewards and supporter groups.
- Work with the Corporate & Philanthropy Manager to offer events fundraising to corporate partners.
2. Innovation and product development
- Use data and insights to understand audiences and to innovate and develop new events from prototype and MVP onwards.
- Proactively research and identify opportunities to grow the portfolio, monitoring the market and sector trends and how they could be implemented at Cerebra.
- Constantly seek to iterate and improve events in all areas including marketing, supporter experience, delivery and fundraising.
- Create business cases and plans for each new event.
- Own and grow Cerebra’s own mass participation flagship event “Relay Your Way”.
3. Schools and community groups
- Develop a plan and products to engage schools with Cerebra fundraising.
- Work with the Marketing & Communications team to develop materials to support schools fundraising.
- Work with the Marketing & Communications and Contact Centre teams to recruit schools to take part in fundraising for Cerebra.
- Monitor and evaluate to scale successful schools fundraising products.
- Take learnings from schools fundraising to apply to other groups and organisations.
4. Culture & relationships
- Work to continue the development of a strong, person-centred, empathetic, supportive and inclusive culture at Cerebra.

- Ensuring all relevant information is recorded in line with charity, fundraising and data legislation and best practice.
6. Line Management
- Carry out recruitment within the team in line with Cerebra’s practices and values.
- Provide effective, remote line management, support and performance management to direct reports to help them maximise their potential and effectiveness.
- Provide practical and person-centred coaching support to direct reports.
- Ensure there is a continual focus on learning and development and wellbeing.

About Chapter One
Chapter One is a small but growing charity, working to ensure that every child has 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.
Our Early Literacy Intervention (ELI) programme provides daily, tailored 1:1, 7 minute phonics sessions for children who are behind in phonics. Using a bespoke technology tool that can be aligned to any school phonics scheme, a trained Early Reading Interventionist works individually with target children. We currently have ELIs working in 11 schools in London, East Sussex and the West Midlands, with plans to expand. Data from 2024-25 showed that children receiving ELI support had a phonics screen pass rate of 95% (10% above school cohort averages).
Chapter One also offers a unique Online Reading Volunteer programme which currently supports about 3,500 children a year. It pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 170 local and national businesses. The volunteer pledge is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. About the role
Working 30 hours per week over 5 days, for 44 weeks a year, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of our Early Literacy Intervention (ELI) programme in the UK. You will manage a team of part-time ELI practitioners, visiting them regularly in school to provide supervision, quality assurance and support. You will lead on the relationships with schools involved in the programme: organising and overseeing programme delivery; sharing regular data summaries and ensuring pupil progress. As the programme grows, you will also be responsible for the recruitment and training of new ELIs.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has recent experience of teaching and/or leading phonics with an excellent understanding of phonics pedagogy and the ability to train and develop our ELI practitioners. Staff management
- Lead and manage a team of Chapter One Early Literacy Interventionists (ELIs) to effectively deliver the Early Literacy intervention programme in schools.

- Design and create training materials for new ELIs.

- Lead on the documentation of key processes and step by step guides for the ELI team and ensure that these processes are followed.
- Analyse pupil data both for ELI pupils and non-ELI pupils to produce reports and identify trends, sharing with the Evidence and Impact Manager as required.
- In collaboration with the Schools Development Manager, conduct annual renewal conversations with partner schools.
Platform development
- Be the first port of call for ELI practitioners for the operation of the Chapter One Early Literacy platform, escalating issues as necessary.
- Liaise with the platform development team to feedback on platform bugs and areas of improvement.
- Proactively identify new directions for the development of the platform, in line with the latest pedagogy and research on early reading, and liaise with the Product Manager and development teams as required.
General responsibilities

We are excited to be recruiting a School Partnerships Officer to join the School Partnerships Team. Your job will be to raise awareness of our programmes and transform expressions of interest into school partnerships. If you are passionate about communicating with different audiences, quickly building relationships, and meeting ambitious targets that have a huge social impact, this could be the perfect role for you.
This role will require you to become an expert on our programmes so that you can confidently discuss their features and benefits with key stakeholders. You will be comfortable in winning the confidence of head teachers and senior school leaders of prospective schools who have expressed an interest in partnering with us. This isn’t just about administering a process, it’s about understanding the needs of individual schools and how our programmes can support their priorities. You will be tenacious and empathetic in equal measure.
Alongside meeting with schools and securing partnerships, you will be involved with generating interest in our programmes, via marketing campaigns and network building. You will also work to improve the efficiency of our internal systems, so teachers have the best experience communicating with us. The role will report to the Director of School Partnerships. It can be based at either of our Brilliant Club offices, located in London and Leeds.
We support less advantaged students to access the most competitive universities and succeed when they get there.
