Job description

Do you think it is a national disgrace that in England and Wales, two women a week are killed by their partner or ex-partner? Or that one woman in every four will experience domestic violence at some point during her life?

Do you want to work for an organisation that provides a voice for abused women, and plays a vital role in ensuring that life-saving services are in place to support them? If so, then the role of Senior Community Fundraising Executive may be perfect for you.

Refuge is the country’s largest provider of specialist services for victims of all forms of gender-based violence. Every day we support over 6,000 women and children in our national network of services. We advise Government and lobby to keep violence against women and girls high on the public agenda. We run award-winning prevention and public education campaigns, managing a busy press office and website, and we are an accredited training provider.

Refuge is committed to a world where domestic and other gender violence is not tolerated and where women and children can live in safety. We aim to empower women and children to rebuild their lives, free from violence and fear.

As Senior Community Fundraising Executive, you will be responsible for developing professional fundraising relationships with our supporters and groups across the community of UK. This includes supporting and retaining existing supporters and being proactive in developing new opportunities, including community corporates, schools, universities and community influencers.

You will also work to implement our three year strategy for supporting regional fundraising across the UK in line with the organisation’s strategy. You will maintain and grow a database of fundraisers, developing strong relationships through their ‘supporter journey’ and identify research and implement new ways to approach potential supporters. The successful applicant will ensure income targets are met within expenditure budget and report progress and performance regularly to their line manager.

The role will require travel across the UK and some evening and weekend work

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic community fundraiser to play key role in delivering our exciting new three year strategy. You will be an excellent relationship builder with highly developed communication skills who has significant community fundraising experience.

You will be driven and self-motivated, comfortable making decisions within agreed delegation levels. You will be able to work as part of the wider fundraising team and have the ability to work under pressure. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual, being part of a new strategy and with personal development built in.

All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the feminist values of empowerment and equality, which underpin all of our work.

Competitive salary offering annual progression within points of the salary grade, 28 days annual leave increasing to 30 days, pension scheme with People’s pension that includes a 6% Employer contribution, comprehensive EAP.

Refuge is proud to be a leader in its field and an employer of choice with leading edge systems for supervision, quality management and development. We offer the first Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) accredited qualification for our profession.
