Senior Trust & Grant Fundraiser
Salary: up to £33,000
Permanent full time post (part time considered for right candidate)
Location: Hybrid working with days in Bradford, Skipton, and/or Harrogate office
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Trust & Grant Fundraiser to lead and grow our charitable income from trusts, foundations and grant-making bodies.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a key strategic role in securing sustainable funding, both restricted and unrestricted, that enables Carers’ Resource to enhance, expand and support our existing services and allows us to invest in organisational infrastructure, website and digital technology.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of personally securing at least £200,000 per annum in trust and grant income and will be confident developing compelling funding applications, building long-term funder relationships, and identifying new income opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a trust and grants fundraising strategy aligned with organisational priorities.

- Demonstrable success in securing trust and grant funding, including a proven track record of personally generating at least £200,000 annually.

The CEO is responsible for the overall leadership, management and performance of UnitedGMH. Strategic Leadership
- Lead in conjunction with the organisation’s senior staff the refinement and delivery of our global organisational strategy 2027-2030.
- Guide the organisation through periods of change, including strategy refresh and transformation.
- Draw on sector insight to ensure UnitedGMH remains at the forefront of global mental health advocacy.
Governance & Board Relationship
- Work closely with the boards of UnitedGMH and AFUGMH to ensure effective governance and decision-making.

- Identify, recommend and support the recruitment of new members of both boards.

About the role

The Senior Fundraising Manager is responsible for delivering Brightside’s fundraising activity with a core focus on grants from trusts and foundations, and major donors. In February this year, the Department for Education published a major white paper on SEND reform which will require NASS to both influence national policy on behalf of our members and children and young people, as well as support them to navigate the changes. 2. Skills and Experience
Administration of the AvMA Panel
The bulk of the administration and management tasks do not require specialist skills; however, assistance is provided by the PA to the CEO when required.
AvMA has a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) driven computer system throughout the organisation, the introduction has been phased and the applicant should be confident enough with sufficient IT skills to onboard the new system. The CRM works with Microsoft Dynamics 365 a data driven software solution which is intended to manage, track and store information. AvMA considers IT to be an ongoing commitment and the new panel accreditation manager should be willing to consider ways in which AvMA can maximise the impact of the CRM to improve services and data collection on key issues identified from panel related activities.
Tasks such as updating and preparing new panel application documents and report forms will require medical and legal input, the panel application interview process will involve discussions about topical medico legal issues and for this reason the post would suit someone who has a legal background, ideally qualified as a solicitor or barrister, preferably with clinical negligence accreditation. A a medical background would be helpful.
Assessment of new applications, interviews and dealing with correspondence
The Panel Accreditation Manager is primarily responsible for the assessment of new panel accreditation applications.
The role of Panel Accreditation Manager would suit someone who has practised as a claimant clinical negligence lawyer who is looking to draw on their expertise and experience in a new role.The successful applicant should be confident in assessing former peers and colleagues in a fair and impartial way.
The nature of this work is such that the Panel Accreditation Manager can come into possession of sensitive information, discretion and respecting confidentiality are key qualities for this role.
Reaccreditations
Reaccreditation assessments are done internally by the Panel Accreditation Manager, occasionally assistance can be provided by members of the internal panel assessment team.
AvMA aims to make reaccreditations more straightforward for practitioners and the new appointee will be expected to liaise with the profession to understand where they consider the biggest hurdles to reaccreditation lie and to consider how these can be overcome without compromising standards.
AvMA receives a minimum of 15 applications for reaccreditation per annum, however numbers are usually considerably higher, up to 30 per annum.It is thought that the reaccreditation process could be designed to be more streamlined and user friendly for both the applicant and in house.
Other AvMA Panel assessments
In addition to assessing AvMA panel applications and reaccreditations the Panel Accreditation Manager will need to assess applications from accredited panel members who have changed firms.
Change of firm applications tend to be straightforward if the applicant has been on the panel for some time and is going to a firm where there is another AvMA panel member but the process is more in depth for those going to a firm which does not have another AvMA panel member. The Panel Application Manager needs to be confident that the new firm can meet the minimum standards and supervision requirements required of a first time panel application.
There are about 5 applications for changes of firm rising to a maximum of 10 per annum.
Interim Reviews
From time to time first time applicants may demonstrate that they largely meet the core criteria for AvMA Panel membership but there may be some areas that require improvement.In those cases, AvMA can award the applicant AvMA panel status subject to a review sometime later.The Panel Accreditation Manager is responsible for following up that review and examining progress made.The review is an opportunity to identify if the applicant has succeeded in strengthening the areas of weakness identified.If they have not, they risk losing their AvMA panel status entirely.
There are about 3 interim reviews per annum, currently not exceeding 6.

About Adolescent Health Study
The Adolescent Health Study (AHS) (Registered Charity Number 1213337) is an ambitious new UKRI-funded initiative to establish a prospective, longitudinal population study that will generate a globally leading open science data platform and research resource. AHS aims to recruit at least 100,000 young people aged eight to 18 years from across the UK and to follow their mental and physical health and wellbeing over at least 10 years. It plans to collect data through questions and measures; to obtain bio-samples for a wide range of genomic and other high-throughput assays; and to capture linked data relevant to health and wellbeing from participants’ health, education and other administrative records.
There will be a strong emphasis on engaging with and involving young people, schools, parents and other relevant stakeholders in the design and delivery of the study, as well as on including young people that represent as wide as possible a range of backgrounds, experiences and characteristics. AHS will focus on enabling a wide range of research, including studies of the critical biological and social developments that occur during the transition from childhood to adulthood and the determinants of both mental and physical health and wellbeing in adolescents and young adults.
Purpose of the post
The Engagement and Involvement Lead will engage with young people, families, schools and other interest-holders in the process of designing, delivering and ensuring the best outputs from the Adolescent Health Study, and is critical for the success of the project. We are at the early stages of laying the foundations for this and in this new role we are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to co-ordinate and lead AHS’s cross-UK participant and public involvement and engagement activities.
This is a role that requires high levels of confidence, autonomy, enthusiasm and skill. The postholder will be responsible for delivering the project’s new Engagement and Involvement Strategy, including: coordinating a Young Persons’ Advisory Group for AHS; developing and delivering AHS public engagement and involvement activities; outsourcing and supervising engagement and involvement activities that are better provided by external partners; scoping and advising on which routes for involvement and engagement activities are best suited to different tasks.

Why we’re needed
Across the UK, over 4 million children are currently living in poverty, driving increasing demand for essential items and support for families with young children. In 2024 alone, baby banks supported over 219,000 families, a 35% increase on the previous year.
And demand is outpacing supply. Many baby banks are being forced to turn families away.
Baby banks are community-led organisations that provide essential items such as clothing, nappies and equipment to families with young children experiencing poverty or crisis. They operate in diverse ways and often offer support and signposting in addition to the material goods, reflecting the needs of their local communities. Baby banks have grown rapidly over the past decade in response to rising levels of need. However, this growth has largely been organic and fragmented.
BBA exists to support, unite and advocate for baby banks: strengthening collective impact, unlocking national opportunities, and helping a fast-growing and diverse movement operate with greater voice, reach and resilience.
The Baby Bank Alliance (BBA) was co-founded by Purposeful Ventures, Save the Children UK, Little Village and the Bristol Baby Bank Network. Since its founding, BBA has built strong national partnerships, secured significant funding and goods for baby banks, and raised the profile of the sector through national media and corporate partnerships (including with organisations such as IKEA).
Currently incubated by Purposeful Ventures and Save the Children UK, BBA is now moving into its next phase: in Summer 2027 we will become an independent organisation and are on the journey to build the national recognition, scale and sustainability to meet growing need.
BBA continues to work closely with its co-founders and incubating partners, who are expected to remain important collaborators as the organisation transitions to independence.
The Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to lead a high-impact organisation at a pivotal moment.
BBA’s achievements to date:
- A national member network of 256+ baby banks
- Current income of ~£1m, with clear ambition to grow significantly
- Grants of >£650k in unrestricted funding to members, with more to follow in Summer 2026
- Distribution of significant gift-in-kind: 13 electric vans; 326 laptops; >£400k worth of toiletries; hundreds of pieces of equipment like prams and high chairs; thousands of toys, nappies, and books
- National media coverage, including features in the Independent, a leading segment on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, plus coverage on BBC News, BBC Breakfast, the One Show, ITV Calendar News, Radio 5 Live, Times Radio and local BBC radio stations
- Confirmed and in-principle support commitments from key partners, including support expected through the current strategy period, providing a strong platform for growth

Job Description
Initially, this role will be employed by Purposeful Ventures. Once BBA becomes independent, the CEO and other members of the BBA team will transfer to direct BBA employment under TUPE. Your terms and conditions of employment will remain unchanged.
What success looks like:
- Income growth: 50% increase in income by 2028, enabling increased funding to member baby banks and investment in BBA’s own capability and resilience.
- Public awareness: increased awareness of baby banks, driving stronger partnerships, broader public support and greater ability to unlock income and influence.
- Independence: a successful transition to an independent organisation in Summer 2027, retaining strong relationships with co-founders and incubating partners.

Purpose of the Role
The Chief Executive Officer will lead the Baby Bank Alliance through its transition to independence and into its next phase of growth.
This is a unique opportunity to shape a growing national organisation — building long-term sustainability, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring BBA can continue to support baby banks across the UK.
The role is externally focused, with a strong emphasis on growing income, building partnerships and raising BBA’s profile, alongside leading a small, committed team. Working closely with the co-founders and incubating partners, drawing on their expertise and networks, will remain crucial in the transition to independence and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Income Growth
- Lead an ambitious approach to income growth, increasing and diversifying funding to support BBA’s long-term sustainability
- Build and secure high-value, multi-year partnerships across corporate, philanthropic and trust audiences
- Develop and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities, ensuring consistent progress from relationship-building to secured funding
- Oversee national funding and goods partnerships that unlock resources for baby banks at scale
Strategic Leadership & Independence
- Lead BBA’s transition from incubation to independence, shaping its future model, governance and direction
- Refine and deliver the organisation’s strategy, turning priorities into clear and achievable plans
- Ensure BBA has a clear and confident position within the child poverty and voluntary sector landscape
External Profile & Sector Leadership
- Build BBA’s reputation as the trusted national voice of baby banks
- Develop strong relationships with funders, partners, government and sector organisations
- Represent BBA externally, helping to grow awareness of baby banks and the role they play in supporting families
Governance & Board Partnership
- Work closely with the Chair and Board to ensure strong governance and accountability
- Support the Board’s development as BBA becomes independent
- Provide clear and useful insight to support good decision-making
Organisational Leadership & Delivery
- Provide clear, values-led leadership, creating a supportive and collaborative culture
- Work closely with the Exec Lead to ensure continuity and strong delivery during the transition period
- Put in place the systems, structures and ways of working needed for a growing organisation
Safeguarding, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
- Ensure safeguarding is appropriately embedded in BBA’s work, with clear oversight and proportionate approaches
- Champion equity, diversity and inclusion in how BBA works internally and supports baby banks across the UK
Financial Stewardship
- Hold overall responsibility for BBA’s financial sustainability
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning and resource allocation
- Ensure funds are used effectively to deliver the greatest possible impact
Person Specification
Essential Experience
- Senior leadership experience (CEO, Director or equivalent) within a charity or social impact organisation
- A strong track record of securing funding and building partnerships
- Experience of working with Boards and leading organisational growth or change
- Experience in child poverty, family support, community-based services, membership or network organisations, or closely related fields
Essential Skills & Attributes
- Strong strategic thinking with a practical, delivery-focused approach
- Confident and credible communicator, able to represent BBA externally

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will:
- Drive sustainable income through a mix of commercial partnerships, membership growth, and charitable funding
- Develop and lead strategic and commercial partnerships, from opportunity through to delivery
- Lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of programmes across our core areas of work
- Grow and engage a diverse membership across commercial and health sector stakeholders

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Knowledge and experience
You will bring:
- A strong track record of developing and securing income through partnerships, sponsorship, membership, and/or charitable funding
- Experience building and managing commercial or strategic partnerships, including identifying opportunities and maintaining long-term relationships
- Experience designing and delivering programmes involving multiple stakeholders, sectors, and/or geographies
- The ability to develop robust business cases, including assessing opportunities, risks, and resource requirements
- Experience growing and engaging professional networks, memberships, or cross-sector communities
- Confidence working in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
Knowledge of the mental health, healthcare, design, or built environment sectors is welcome, but not essential.
