Sense are in search of a Trusts and Statutory Manager to join our fantastic engagement team based in London. The successful candidate will play a key part in delivering Sense’s strategy to reach 50,000 people with complex disabilities by 2026. Central to this strategy is our plan to deliver growth in our charitable projects and to build several new multi-million-pound hubs in Belfast, Leeds, and the Southwest. These hubs will significantly increase the number of people who can access our services, helping to bring forward the day when no-one is left of life.

Sense has a strong track record in Trusts fundraising over several decades. We have recently secured several 6 and 7 figure statutory partnerships, and we have talented colleagues in post, but there is room to grow, and Sense is investing. This year, we have also welcomed new corporate, major donor, prospect research, and special events colleagues to the team, and this new role is part of the same planned investment. 

This is a full-time, either hybrid or homebased, permanent role, working between home and our offices in King's Cross as required. We are open to hearing from candidates who want to work 5 days or 4 days a week
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage a robust portfolio of prospects and supporters to meet income targets 
• Research and identify potential funders for unfunded Sense projects/concepts
• Work closely with key stakeholders, sector partners and leadership to grow pipelines, this includes monitoring of Trusts, Foundations and Statutory funding portals
• Lead on funding applications to a range of Trusts, Foundations and Statutory funders, including coordinating inputs, writing narrative applications and application budgets
• Lead or support the grant management of key Trusts, Foundations and Statutory funders’ grants. This includes: ensuring compliance against contracts, quality assurance, and submission of funder reports

Skill, Knowledge, and Experience:

• Experience of generating income and achieving financial targets in a high value role
• Experience of working with a Trusts and Foundations pipeline, or a Statutory pipeline, making sure opportunities are identified, recorded, and taken forward 
• Direct experience of developing and submitting six figure plus proposals for Trusts Foundations, Statutory funders, or equivalent 
• Experience of working with Senior Volunteers and/or Leadership to engage prospects and supporters
• Able to write strong, persuasive narrative for six figure plus proposals and reports
• Able to communicate with passion and clarity 
• Comfortable representing the organisation and developing new leads and relationships

You should be persuasive and credible with all audiences, including those at the highest level, both internally and externally. You should also have the ability to disseminate and present complex information clearly and compellingly.

Fundraising and project development:

· Lead the implementation of Bexley Mencap’s Fundraising Strategy; reviewing existing fundraising strategies, identifying opportunities for development and introducing innovative strategies to achieve fundraising goals.

The Partnerships Manager will manage a portfolio of commercial and fundraising accounts totalling c.£250k, as well as some new business development. - Drive the development of their corporate fundraising programme, working with Global Programmes colleagues and partners based in the countries where they work.

Team management

- Develop and manage the Philanthropy and Fundraising Partnerships team’s activity plan and budget.

The merger of Fight for Sight and Vision Foundation on 1st April 2023 will enable us to address both questions. By combining our strengths and expertise we’ll be the only significant national funder with the efficiency, capability, and capacity to increase investment in medical research and social improvement. Together we can mitigate both the prevalence and impact of sight loss.

We have a clear ambition, led by our CEO, Keith Valentine, who has valuable lived experience of sight loss. This ambition includes retail growth plans and an income generation strategy to open more shops over the next 5 years. We currently operate 11 shops selling donated goods, including an online eBay shop.

Role Responsibilities:

Purpose of Job

· To coach, lead and manage a team of volunteers

· Drive sales performance to exceed targets, maximising cost efficiency

· Maximise shop profits through delivery of the retail strategy, including income, gift aid donor sign up and conversion, donations and other income generators.

· To deliver shop income plan

· To achieve gift aid income objectives, donor sign up and conversion. Improving processes to deliver maximum value, coaching colleagues to success

· Monitor and be accountable for sales and category performance, as well as ensure that the team are aware of and engaged in the shop’s financial performance

· Foster a creative and entrepreneurial shop environment where team members seek to maximise income in new and innovative ways both within the shop and through a variety of channels, such as community events

· Manage the team to maximise income from Gift Aid on donated products

Shop Floor

· Ensure sourcing sufficient levels of donated stock locally in collaboration with the shop team

· Establish efficient and commercially successful stock processing systems (such as pricing, quality standards, consumer safety, stock density and culling stock), including backroom systems and ensure these are adhered to by the volunteer team. Ensure that all legal and Vision Foundation internal regulations regarding donated stock are adhered to

· Inspire the team to provide a great customer and donor experience, which enables The Vision Foundation to attract new supporters every day. Ensure that feedback, including complaints are escalated to the Area Manager within the agreed timeframes

· Empower the team to create original, appropriate and commercially successful visual merchandising displays, including shop windows

· Make sure that all procedures for the sale of new products are followed by the volunteer team (if applicable)

The Head of Legacies and In Memory will work with the Associate Director of Fundraising and Marketing to build and develop the vital legacy and in memory programme. The role will include the development of innovative and engaging marketing strategies - including recruitment and stewardship across legacies and in memory. Furthermore, you will investigate new audiences and channels  to increase engagement and use your excellent budgetary management to produce detailed income forecasting.

Key elements of the role include:

• creating and implementing multi-channel campaigns to recruit new legacy supporters from warm audiences and increase the number of legacies notified from these sources
• developing excellent stewardship plans for legacy enquirers, intenders and pledgers and for all in memory and tribute donors
• introducing new transformational projects and exploring new avenues and audiences for legacy and in memory giving beyond our existing audiences
• creating and implementing a detailed in memory and tribute fundraising plan based on analysis of donor sources, income and activity
• providing accurate, regular activity and income updates and forecasts to our Senior Leadership Team

To be considered for this position the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate;

• Proven experience and a successful track record at a senior level in legacy fundraising, including the creation, development and implementation of strategic fundraising plans.
• A credible senior professional with good influencing skills and a can do and hands on approach.
• Demonstrable ability to deliver against agreed financial and performance targets, timescales and objectives.
