About the Role

A unique opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to manage the delivery of our EDI programmes and have a real impact on the participation of underrepresented groups in our programmes, as well as building on our established position within the skills sector.

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing, managing and evaluating senior stakeholder relationships with external networks. With a proven track record of consistently delivering projects and programmes with high-quality results, the successful candidate will have up to date ED&I knowledge and demonstrable experience of raising the profile of an organisation within this setting.  The candidate will be experienced in development of programmes and partnerships to suit delivery of strategic objectives, and be able to project manage internal colleagues to deliver against set KPIs.

The successful candidate will have a passion for working within a charity that focuses on developing young people from all backgrounds, and will have the experience, knowledge and understanding to drive forward EDI in external facing programmes.

Role purpose

The purpose of this role is to lead, develop and deliver WorldSkills UK’s external Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) programmes supported by stakeholder engagement strategies across our network of industry, education and government. The role will ensure that we engage external stakeholders to help deliver our ambition to be a leader, partner and ally in creating positive change for ED&I in the skills sector.

Key tasks and responsibilities

1. Deliver positive action activity for change:

• Support the development and delivery of WorldSkills UK’s external ED&I strategy. Ensure it is fit for purpose, has recognised long term goals and will deliver measurable change, reflecting organisational priorities around increased engagement with ethnic minority groups and females. Provide an overarching framework and help further develop strategic KPIs for our ED&I work, ensuring effective use of data, monitoring progress and performance.
• Work with the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager to develop action plans that will drive our continuous improvement:
  • Support our skills competition development programmes to increase the diversity of young people engaged
  • Support the development of role models to showcase the impact of our work and encourage diversity in key areas of industry, including future priority skill areas
  • Support the development of learning resources that aid engagement with underrepresented groups
  • Support teams to ensure ED&I matters are considered and addressed as key components of all strategies, plans and programmes.

2. Manage the ED&I Advisory Group:

• This is a unique opportunity to work with experienced and prominent senior individuals from across education and industry who are invested in driving the agenda for ED&I.
• Lead the administration and ongoing development of our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Group.
• Engage the Group to help support, advise and challenge WorldSkills UK on its actions to remove obstacles and barriers faced by young people from under-represented backgrounds in our programmes.
• Report regularly to the Group on progress against KPI’s and facilitate reports for the WorldSkills UK Board.

3. Project Manage the ED&I Heroes Awards

• The Awards is an established flagship event which provides a platform for WorldSkills UK to celebrate success with its partners, amplify best practice and inspire others to drive change across the skills systems in education and business.
• Project manage delivery of the annual Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Heroes Awards, supported by relevant internal teams
  • Establish the nominations process
  • Co-ordinate the judging panel
  • Organise the awards ceremony
  • Manage the support of the awards partners.

4. Manage strategic relationships

• Manage a portfolio of ED&I focused Strategic Partnerships with organisations from across the skills sector, facilitating their support and engagement with our EDI programmes.
• Grow our network of partners to widen our reach, help further drive work in this area and collectively impact on the sector.
• Advise and support the development of the CEO’s international activities on ED&I with WorldSkills International (WSI).

5. Raise the profile of WorldSkills UK’s ED&I work:

• Work with teams across the organisation to support our Mission to ignite a national and global movement to help more young people, regardless of their background, get the best possible start in work and life.
• Support the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager and Marketing and Communications Team to showcase the impact of our programmes:
  • Help to externally profile and articulate the value and impact of our activities using the channels and tools available
  • Seek opportunities to advocate for our work through stakeholder engagement and networking
  • Support the Corporate Partnerships team to identify and secure commercial income related to our ED&I initiatives.
  • Work across the organisation to build on existing external relationships and develop new strategic partnerships that reinforce our position as a skills sector leader.

6. Internal ED&I Liaison:

• Whilst not responsible for WorldSkills UK’s internal ED&I activities and agenda it is anticipated that the post holder will spend up to 10% of their time supporting and working with the Corporate Affairs team on internal ED&I matters, with the remaining 90% spent on external work.
• It is not essential that the postholder has extensive experience in this area.

7. General

• Produce requirement specifications in line with WorldSkills UK’s procurement strategies for all outsourced activity.
• Maintain WorldSkills UK’s established management policies for dealing with risks and issues for the Corporate Partnerships team and the wider organisation.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of WorldSkills UK’s strategic priorities and annual business objectives.
• Promote and comply with WorldSkills UK’s Employee Handbook and the policies contained therein with particular reference to those related to Health and Safety and on equity, diversity and inclusion.

This role is office based (as above) but with flexible hybrid working. It is expected the postholder will attend the office at least once or twice a week.

Full time working hours are a minimum of 35 hours per week, normal working hours are 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday although we pride ourselves on having a flexible approach to our working practices and service delivery and are happy to discuss flexible working options, including part time, with suitable candidates.

25 days’ annual leave [which will increase by one additional day for each completed year of service up to a maximum of 30 days] plus public and bank holidays.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Philanthropy 

• Lead, develop and implement a Business Growth strategic plan that brings a mix of 
  sustainable income derived from individual giving, trusts and foundations and corporate 
  sponsorships
• Work with the Director to develop strategic revenue generation opportunities across the 
  business and key ICA stakeholders
• Lead a Fundraising team to research prospective donors and supporters and build a 
  pipeline of donor acquisition, including bespoke donor packages
• Collaborate with strategic partners on the development of compelling partnership 
  funding/income/business growth proposals
• Maintain an overview of trends and developments in fundraising and business growth 
  across the artistic and cultural sector
• Contribute to business growth and fundraising forecasts to the annual and longer-term 
  strategic business planning process.
• Ensure effective CRM measures are in place and leading on timely and applicable 
  communications to key stakeholders including audiences, funders and members
• Alongside the Director, personally steward relationships with major individual donors 
  and key decision makers in trusts and foundations
• Lead on data collection processes and analytics in relation to audiences, participants and 
  donors. 

Audiences & Communications

•  Lead, develop and implement an Audiences and communications strategy alongside the 
  ICA’s internal and external colleagues and PR agencies
• Lead marketing campaigns for ICA’s work and manage a range of activity that supports 
  ICA to meet its organisational objectives
• Maintain and develop ICA’s brand in international, national and local markets, ensuring
  ICA’s identity is maintained across all communications channels
• Oversee the ICA platforms including its website, socials, media and the overall user 
  experience to ensure that they serve the organisational objectives
• Develop and deliver a coherent marketing and communications strategy that promotes
  ICA, and enables the institution to meet its income targets
• Develop, implement and maintain ICA’s overall digital and social media strategy
• Stay appraised of new opportunities for promoting ICA
• Alongside the Director and in consultation with ICA’s external PR agency as needed, lead 
  on PR strategy and response plans
• Provide support, direction and guidance for any crisis PR and comms strategies,

• Oversee data collection processes and analytics in relation to audiences, participants

Governance & Reporting 

• Ensuring all fundraising and business growth activity is ethical and fully compliant with 
  relevant UK charity and financial management regulation
• Leading the Fundraising team to complete all business growth/fundraising reporting as 
  required including Arts Council England NPO reporting
• Reporting to the Director and Board of Trustees on the strategy and delivery of the ICA’s 
  business growth with the ability to flex and respond effectively when variances arise
• Reporting to the Finance and Audit sub-committee

Team Management

• Play an active and highly collaborative role as a full member of both the Executive 
  Leadership Team and Senior Leadership Team
• Line Manage roles of Senior Development Manager, Development Manager, Audience 
  and Marketing Manager, Membership Manager, Editions Coordinator, Ticketing & 
  Membership manager, ensuring person specific objectives are set in line with the ICA’s 
  strategic mission & KPIs, as well as supporting staff’s ongoing development and 
  appraisal processes
• Contribute to the wider organisation’s implementation of business initiatives and 
  transformation
• Working alongside members of ELT and SLT, deliver a consistent, empathetic and 
  pragmatic leadership

KEY REQUIREMENTS 

• Extensive and tangible experience in developing and delivering a communications 
  and audience development strategy within the arts and culture sector
• A demonstrable experience in business growth and implementation especially in 
  relation to revenue opportunities, trusts and foundations, individual giving and 
  corporate sponsorship ideally within the arts and culture sector
• Experience of personally managing relationships with high value individual, 
  organisational and institutional donors
• A clear track record of meeting income targets
• A clear track record of effectively managing both internal staff members and external 
  consultants/agencies and audience development strategy and implementation within 
  the arts and culture sector
• Knowledge of the practical application of effective CRM systems both across audiences 
  and funders
• Awareness of legislation governing fundraising activity by charities in the UK. 

As our Head of Brand and Health Engagement, you’ll be responsible for managing a team to produce sector-leading, highly effective, marketing campaigns and customer journeys, inspiring more people to engage with and support the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and its lifesaving work.

Working arrangements

The role

This exciting role within NLOS’s senior management team was created to help bring greater strategic alignment across NLOS and its charities and to better capitalise on new and existing opportunities. The post is critical to ensuring that we maximise the resources available to us through increased income generation and by forging strategic partnerships across multiple sectors and fields that allow us to increase and leverage support for each charity and provide a world class customer experience, while protecting and preserving green spaces of international significance. All activities will be undertaken with a priority to conserve the natural spaces we oversee, and to ensure that income generated at each site is reinvested back into the charity/site where it was raised. 

As a member of NLOS’s senior management team, the postholder will be responsible for overseeing a diverse and complementary portfolio, including income generation, strategic partnerships, marketing and communications, event and license management, volunteer and engagement programmes, and strategic partnerships. They will lead a newly created team with diverse and complementary roles, fill remaining team vacancies, and create a cohesive approach and narrative. As a member of NLOS’s senior management team, they will work closely with colleagues and the Superintendent to create and implement new opportunities to further improve these four iconic green spaces.

Our Events Officers work with colleagues across the Institute to deliver our range of public events, roundtables, workshops and conferences.

As part of the events team, within the wider communications team and reporting to the Head of Events, you will:

• Support the design and co-ordination of the Institute’s programme of public and private events, including panel discussions, conferences, receptions, workshops and roundtables.
• Manage all logistics and marketing for timely, professional event organisation and delivery.
• Help prepare for and deliver Institute events outside of London, including our party conference programme.
• Share management of the busy events email inbox and deal with internal and external event enquiries.

About the role

At a time of growth and of new opportunities for the Motability Foundation, we are looking for a Public Affairs Manager to join our Communications Team and lead our Public Affairs activity for the organisation.

Our vision is to fund, support, research, and innovate, so all disabled people can make the journeys they choose. There are an estimated 16 million disabled people in the UK, and this role will play a crucial part in our work to raise awareness of the work of the Motability Foundation, amplify the voices of disabled people and to influence policy.

·This new role will work alongside our new Evidence and Policy Manager, based in our Innovation team, and other colleagues across the organization as well as key partners (Motability Operations), to manage our horizon scanning and monitoring of the political landscape, leading on advising our Governors, CEO and senior management team on actions we need to take, and preparing detailed briefings for engagements, and events with Parliamentarians and senior Ministers. The role holder will develop, implement and lead our Public Affairs and Government Engagement Plan, and proactively identify and develop opportunities to influence and shape policy where it may have a positive impact for disabled people.

With a General Election and potential welfare reform on the horizon, this role is especially important and experience in creating and implementing post-election public affairs strategies, leading activities across the team and devising and managing structured results reporting to the organisation, is highly desirable.

What you will be doing

• Develop, implement and manage our public affairs strategy, leading on public affairs activities aligned with the Motability Foundation’s vision and overall strategy.
• Amplify the Motability Foundation’s voice in Parliament, across the devolved nations, and in political spheres, building, developing and managing relationships with parliamentarians, decision-makers and stakeholders.
• Manage our horizon scanning and monitoring of the political, legislative and regulatory landscape in relation to the work of the Motability Foundation, leading on advising the business on actions we need to take.
• Provide sharp political intelligence, insight, advice and briefings for Governors, directors, senior management and a variety of audiences across the organization.
• Support the establishment of the Motability Foundation’s policy positions and delivering our influencing objectives.
• Manage a contact program for Parliamentarians, raising awareness of the work of the Motability Foundation, establishing regular meetings for senior leaders where relevant, and facilitating dialogue on issues relevant to our work.
• Working closely with the Evidence and Policy Manager to manage the dissemination of any policy output for presentation to the external world.

Your experience

Must haves:

• Strong grasp of parliamentary processes in Westminster, Scotland and the other devolved nations.

The Partnership Manager role will report to the CEO and sit within the Business Development Team.

The Partnership Manager will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities in order to generate revenue, improve profitability and help the business grow. You will have a clear ability to tailor the way we sell our services to potential clients.

You will lead and support others across the company to communicate our service offering to external stakeholders that will directly contribute to the company’s growth strategy and impact.

The Partnership Manager will also be a key member of the department and contribute to, departmental strategies, systems and maximising efficiency, and communicating our brand values and services that attracts a wide range of clients.

In this role, you will work closely with the Digital Communications and Marketing, Monitoring and Evaluation, Programme and Finance teams.

Essential Experience

• Have a minimum 5 years sales and client relationship experience

Role Summary

As the Director of Research and Public Affairs you lead a team working across the full range of research work (including commissioning, grant-making and in-house research) and public affairs work (including policy analysis, advocacy work and mobilising our activists). You also contribute to the charity’s strategies, leadership and governance as a member of the Executive Team. Ultimately, your role is to generate new knowledge; and communicate knowledge, ideas and emotions to change hearts and minds, creating tangible reductions in alcohol harm across the UK.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Leadership, strategy & planning

1. Lead the research and public affairs functions at Alcohol Change UK.

2. Produce and deliver plans across our research and public affairs work programmes that are ambitious for change (impact), realistic given our resources, and consistent with our strategy, our other work programmes, and our values.

3. Set budgets, tightly control costs and identify opportunities for making savings, growing income and making the case for investment.

4. Appropriately monitor and evaluate our research and public affairs work with a view to knowing, growing and showing the impact we make.

Research

5. Work closely with the CEO, Policy and Research Manager, R&P sub-committee and Wales Office to determine and oversee the charity’s programme of commissioned research, research grants, and in-house research.

6. Ensure that all research is designed with impact-in-mind and, once complete, that it delivers on that impact through active and ongoing communication of the findings to the right audiences with the right messages through the right channels.

7. Lead the research function to be the central hub for the charity on the topic of alcohol harm and its solutions, staying on top of new research.

8. Influence the research spending of other agencies (e.g. NIHR) with a view to maximising funding into alcohol research in general.

Public Affairs

9. Lead and manage the charity’s public affairs activity, deploying the CEO, Research & Policy Officer and other staff as a team.

10.  Lead our work with external alliances, such as the Alcohol Health Alliance and the Alcohol and Families Alliance, and on the APPG on Alcohol Harm.

11.  Develop excellent relationships with Parliamentarians, civil servants, charities and other important institutional actors in our field.

12.  Build Campaigner journeys for our engagement audience to best mobilise them to help us with our influencing work.

13.  Lead on the commissioning and management of any external public affairs agencies, parliamentary monitoring services and similar suppliers.

14.  Ensure our policy positions are kept up-to-date, based on emerging evidence and contemporary thinking, and consistent with our principles.

15.  Work closely with the Director of Engagement and Fundraising to effectively mobilise and deploy our activists, Community Champions and other supporters so they (i) make a difference, (ii) become better informed over time, and (iii) remain motivated to campaign for our cause.

16.  Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to influence all forms of media to better support our desired outcomes.

Team Leadership and Management

17.  Lead and manage the research and public affairs team(s), ensuring excellent line management.

18.  Lead the process of recruiting and inducting new team members, as appropriate.

19.  Proactively develop your own skills and experience as well as those of staff within your team.

Cross-organisational Role

20.  Act as a spokesperson for the charity at high profile events and across media, including radio and TV.

21.  Be an active and positive member of the charity’s Executive Team.

Using a data-led approach, you’ll be able to use your user experience expertise to help drive the adoption of a digital-first way of working across the Foundation’s activities.

· Managing the relationship with our website development agency. Making recommendations for areas of improvement and further development.

· Managing our analytics and other insight platforms to ensure that we collect robust data and can make informed, evidence-based recommendations to ensure we’re using digital to deliver against the Foundation’s strategic objectives.

· Support and develop the implementation of an SEO strategy for our website content to ensure that our audiences can find our content.

What skills, knowledge and experience are we looking for?

About The Role

This is an incredibly exciting, high-impact role within the organisation. As Head of Fundraising you will be part of the Senior Leadership Team and our key fundraiser, critical fundraising strategist and have the scope to influence and shape our programmes.

You will be instrumental in driving income development and in leading fundraising initiatives with an emphasis on Trusts and Foundations, individual giving, major gift fundraising, corporate giving and statutory bodies such. You will nurture key relationships with existing donors and potential new supporters and build and manage a robust pipeline of supporters.

Responsibilities include:

Leadership, Strategy and Governance

• To be an active member of the Made in Hackney Senior Leadership Team, working together to galvanise the organisation behind our strategic plan.
• To contribute to strategic discussions on the future direction of the organisation.
• To participate and / or lead in team meetings as appropriate.
• To act as the lead staff team representative on the Strategy and Fundraising Board Sub-committee, actively contributing and working with Trustees, as well as attending Board meetings.
• To participate in organisational budget planning and monitoring meetings.

Fundraising and Development

• To co-design and write grant applications and secure grant funding from Trusts, Foundations or Corporate entities in line with our annual target (likely to be in the range of £400k-£500k).
• To work with the Partnerships Manager to secure Fundraising income from individual givers, major donors, Crowdfunding campaigns and other fundraising initiatives in line with our annual target (likely to be in the range of £200k).
• To develop and execute an annual fundraising strategy: building a sustainable portfolio consisting of grants and donations from individuals, corporates, trusts and foundations, to ensure long-term sustainable funding of activities.
• To research and prospect future funders.
• To maintain precise and up-to-date records on current and potential supporters and prospects.
• To create engaging fundraising communication tools.
• To establish partnerships for joint programmes and funding bids where beneficial.

Donor stewardship & reporting

• To retain current donors and maximise fundraising opportunities, including delivering a programme of appropriate stewardship opportunities with the core team.
• To work with the team to co-design programmes and their evaluation requirements to ensure the organisation meets the grant funders' requirements. 
• To complete reporting to grant funders, including developing report templates, creating reports, case studies, and other administrative requirements. 

Communications

• To input into MIH’S communications strategy and the planning and implementation of improvements to marketing plans, digital presence and social media strategy to ensure impact and fundraising successes are communicated
• To maintain a stock of impact-focused case studies and success stories and ensure fundraising successes are communicated on social media and online.
• To ensure the robust monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and campaigns; providing key input to the annual report and impact report.
• To coordinate fundraising events with the Community Partnerships Manager. 

Line Management

• To have direct line management responsibility for the Community Partnerships Manager and Social Media & Marketing Manager, creating a supportive environment for growth and development.
