As a member of Making The Leap’s senior management team, you will take responsibility for the organisation’s growth and outward facing initiatives. You will lead and manage the organisation’s portfolio of social mobility leadership strands, and develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders. You will provide dynamic day-to-day leadership for the Making The Leap’s directorate responsible for income generation, impact, research, communications and policy, and ensure the organisation continues to be an exemplar of innovation, integrity and collaboration. You will also be contributing to, implementing and monitoring delivery of the organisation’s strategic plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Research and evaluate new funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, and other grant funders, maintaining a 12-month funding calendar.

2. Cultivate and nurture relationships with funding/grant-making organisations, both new and existing.

3. Develop compelling cases for support for designated projects or organisational areas, tailoring funding bids and applications accordingly.

4. Enhance Buttle UK's ability to deliver compelling reports to donors, meeting or surpassing their expectations.

5. Submit timely reports to donors, ensuring compliance with monitoring and evaluation requirements.

6. Support the maintenance of systems tracking fund allocation and expenditure, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date information for funders.

7. Manage donor records on the Raiser's Edge fundraising database, including recording activities, income, and producing management reports.

8. Stay informed about funding opportunities and trends in the sector through attending conferences, workshops, and events.

9. Generate accurate and timely management information on fundraising activities and budgets.

10. Ensure integration of fundraising activities within the wider staff team and provide necessary support.

11. Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Fundraising and Marketing and/or the Trust Fundraising Manager.

12. Proactively assess own performance and development needs.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience

1. Proven experience and success in developing and drafting proposals and/or reports raising funds from trusts, foundations, other grant makers or the equivalent.

2. Experience of creating compelling and concise funding proposals, written documents and reports from a range of information sources, including detailed technical or sector specific information. about the organisation’s work.

3. Proven ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.

4. Experience of research techniques applicable to identifying funding opportunities and framing funding bids.

5. Financially literate with the experience of producing and interpreting budgets, or other detailed numerical information.

6. Experience of working under your own initiative, dealing with conflicting demands and working under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

7. Experience of project planning and/or project coordination.

8. Proven IT skills, ideally with experience of using databases.

9. Good knowledge of the charity sector.

About the role

The St Pancras Community Association (SPCA) is a charity delivering high quality services for Camden residents, especially the lively and diverse community of the St Pancras and Somers Town ward. As the Director of SPCA you will lead and guide a highly skilled and motivated team to make the SPCA a community hub and a centre of excellence which has a positive impact on the lives of local residents.

• Overseeing all fundraising activities from trusts, the local authority, local businesses and the community.

Internal Communications Officer

Hybrid Working: Connexional Team staff based at Methodist Church House have a hybrid work pattern which is currently 2 days in the office, and 3 days remote.

About the Role

We are looking to appoint an Internal Communications Officer who will play a critical role in developing and shaping the organisation’s internal communications for the staff of the Connexional Team.

The post holder will work closely with Senior Managers to ensure that the Team’s values, mission and updates are effectively communicated to all Team members working across several sites and from home, to foster a cohesive and motivated work environment.

You will be able to articulate messages clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, that are tailored to various internal audiences.  Exceptional writing, editing and proof-reading skills for a range of communication channels are a must for this role.

You will also have strong organisational skills with the ability to lead projects, work collaboratively and be proficient in digital communication tools and platforms.

Education should be the means to break the link between demographics and destiny. Yet every week 109 children in England – equivalent to three full classrooms – are asked to leave their schools and never come back, with disastrous personal and societal consequences. The Difference, a young education charity, was founded to change the story on this lost learning. It exists to build the status and expertise of teachers working with vulnerable children, particularly those who are excluded from mainstream schools.

By 2030, The Difference want rates of exclusion and absence to be falling nationally and for schools to be better equipped to support all children, including those who may be vulnerable.

The organisation was born out of a year of research into school exclusions with think-tank IPPR. This research identified a lack of inclusion expertise in schools and proposed a new leadership development programme to fill this gap. In 2018, The Difference founder Kiran hired the team who took this idea from concept to reality, beginning work with our first schools.

The Difference is now a 22-strong team delivering multiple school leadership programmes, alongside a growing research and policy arm. The team is supported by our Youth Advisory Board, made up of young people who have experienced exclusion and who provide their expertise and insights on how school inclusion work should be done. This work is needed more than ever. Effects of COVID-19, coupled with the spiralling cost of living, have substantially increased levels of vulnerability. Schools serving excluded pupils face under-funding. The Difference has had excellent early impact but there is work ahead to capture this, share learning with schools and policy-makers, and grow our capacity to lower exclusions across England.

Our first permanent Head of Fundraising will drive the growth and sustainability of our fundraising function. Having proved the impact on exclusions via our programmes, you will help us generate the income to scale this success across the country. We need an expert fundraiser to support this journey. • Drive the delivery of a new fundraising strategy for The Difference, motivating and involving key members of the team, particularly the Development and Impact Manager.

In this role you will be instrumental in enhancing the communication capabilities of our global programs and local partners. You will also be responsible for cultivating and nurturing celebrity partnerships, both existing and new, to support our mission. You'll collaborate closely with fundraising teams to create impactful collateral and refine fundraising strategies.

This role will report directly to our Senior Global Communications Manager but work closely with our fundraising teams and frequently support the rest of the organisation across programmes and global fundraising.

Supporting global programmes and local partners (30%):

• Identify compelling stories and program updates for amplification on Street Child's channels.
• Enhance in-country communication capabilities by creating materials and providing training.
• Assist program participation in external events and integrate communication plans into project timelines.

Developing celebrity partnerships (30%):

• Maintain relationships with celebrity supporters and drive partnership plans.
• Secure high-profile support for our activities and manage social media coverage sensitively.
• Identify and engage new high-profile supporters and advise colleagues on partnership strategies.

Communications resource for fundraising teams (20%):

• Provide communication support for fundraising events and community resource generation.
• Establish communication calendars and plan for fundraising initiatives.

Wider MMC Support (20%):

• Manage our digital asset bank and ensure best practice use.
• Monitor key metrics, deliver the Annual Report, and maintain our brand identity.
• Represent Street Child internally and externally and fulfill other role-related duties.

The location for this role is in London, with a willingness to work in our London office three, or more, days of the week.

• Working with your line manager and where delegated, the Apprenticeship Outreach Programme Manager, to create bespoke events and short courses for potential apprentices.

• Linking apprenticeship opportunities to  specific Sixth formers.
• Social media promotion: working with our marketing manager on SM campaigns to raise awareness of Ada’s short courses, partnerships with employers and open recruitment campaigns.
• Completing the legacy apprenticeship recruitment activity for Autumn 2024 and Spring 2025.
• Shortlisting Sixth Form candidates for any exclusive apprenticeship opportunities.
• Assisting the Sixth Form Outreach and Recruitment team with event planning, administration and delivery including outreach events (Careers Fairs, Open Days, Lift-off days, school visits to Ada and Keep Warm events. (This will involve commitment on some weekends and evenings during busy times.)
• Assisting with wider college events.
• Supporting the Sixth Form recruitment effort as needed through the administration of the application process.
• Keeping accurate records, inputting data into Ada’s systems and exporting relevant information to produce reports and dashboards.
• Assisting with tasks and administration in the wider teams including Reception and Front-of -house, facilities and External Relations.

This role requires working flexible hours, including 9am–5pm, 10am–6pm or 11am–7pm between Monday to Friday to meet services and volunteer needs (3 days a week).

If you’re passionate about offering high quality information and emotional support and have relevant Helpline experience, we’d love to hear from you.

You will be providing continuous support to all our volunteers at the Helpline team, directly contributing in providing information and support to our Helpline enquirers, with both proactive and reactive content and information on prevalent topics or trends affecting the MS community.
