Our Crisis service provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals in crisis, offering an alternative to emergency departments and other crisis services.

This exciting pilot is a new approach to preventing rough sleeping, through the provision of accommodation with onsite specialist move-on support to those who are at immediate risk of sleeping rough. The service will provide a route and support for single homeless clients who are presenting to the Local Authority Housing Options or day centres and at imminent risk of rough sleeping, but not yet rough sleeping.

Where their homelessness cannot be prevented by the council and they are at imminent risk of sleeping rough, a referral can be made into the Rough Sleeping Prevention service.

The service will be based across three London locations in Islington, Lambeth and Kensington and Chelsea and staff will be based expected to work across all three sites

• Work on 7 day rolling rota inclusing early, mid and late shifts 
•  (K&C): medium – high support accommodation.
•  (Lambeth): medium support accommodation.
•  (Islington): Assessment hub space for up to 15 clients. Site will operate 24/7.

Each site will have staff delivering casework and support, providing each person with a comprehensive assessment of their needs and circumstances, and intensive specialist support to secure move on.

In this role you will jointly manage the safe day to day running of the project with other members of the team and to provide basic support and advice to clients.

The Peer Support In-Reach Service is a partnership between several local Minds. Peer Support Workers and Senior Peer Support Workers, who have direct lived experience of mental health issues, are working on in-patient wards in Croydon, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Wandsworth to provide recovery-focused peer support to people as they leave hospital and journey towards being settled in the community and living independently.

South East London Mind have a vacancy for a part-time Senior Peer Support Worker to join the team in Lewisham and line manage a Peer Support Worker.

The successful candidate will have personal lived experience of mental health problems, as well as experience of managing staff or volunteers. You will need to be able to travel around the local area to meet your clients in the community and work in hospitals.

You will use your lived experience to help people build skills to develop independence, connect with family and friends, pursue social or vocational interests, get more involved in their local community and stay healthy and mentally well. Your support will be person-centred and may include mentoring, coaching, facilitating access to community activities and providing practical and emotional support. About the Role

The primary role of a Family Support Worker is to provide effective, efficient, and supportive service to children and their mothers residing in refuge with Solace Women’s Aid. The staff member will lead on the development of a child and family-centred approach to work in the refuge. In so doing, they will:

• Develop and deliver a range of trauma-informed services to children and young people (0-17 years) and their mothers within the refuge and when they are resettled into the community.
• Ensure ongoing development of age-appropriate children’s activities.
• Ensure the completion of comprehensive assessments of family needs and risk of families, ensuring an integrated approach with children and adult services (internal and external)
• Promote ‘Integrated Working’ through internal and external mechanisms in partnership with colleagues and community partnerships.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of working with vulnerable children, young people, and/or families, as well as knowledge of the effects that domestic abuse can have on young people.

About the organisation
nia has been delivering services to women, girls and children who have been subjected to sexual and domestic violence and abuse, including prostitution, since 1975. The organisation has three main aims: to provide services for women, girls and children who have experienced men’s violence; contributing to ending male violence against women and girls, and to inform and influence policy and public awareness.

About the post
The Emma Project, Daria House and Jan’s Place are specialist services providing refuge and support services to women who have been subjected to domestic and/or sexual violence and abuse, including women who have been sexually exploited, including through prostitution and who also use substances problematically.
You will work closely alongside the refuges Team Leader and Service Manager to implement and deliver a trauma informed approach to refuge services.

We’re looking for a highly organised and self-motivated woman who is passionate about ending violence against women, girls and children. You’ll have a ‘can-do’ approach and demonstrable commitment to nia’s approach to Prioritising women, upholding and promoting feminist, trauma-informed and anti-racist practice.

Reporting to: Advocacy Service Manager

Responsible for:  No staff 

Location: Orchard House, 15A Purley Road, South Croydon, CR2 6EZ and other locations such as Bethlem Hospital, Monks Orchard Rd, Beckenham BR3 3BX.

Purpose of the role:

General Advocacy - to provide independent issue-based advocacy to informal inpatients and residents of Croydon. IMHA Advocacy - to provide statutory representation to inpatients or those living in the community when subject to compulsion under the 1983 Mental Health Act (2007) and to exercise, as instructed by clients, the powers given to IMHA’s under that legislation.

We are willing to consider a trainee who has registered and is working towards the
qualification.
