Work as part of a dynamic team delivering the Safeguarding on Transport (ST) project, in partnership with British Transport Police (BTP). You will be responsible for developing our community engagement work in the West Midlands, as well as supporting the wider UK work. This work consists of developing the Safeguarding Action Groups (SAG) and also encouraging members of the local rail industry to engage with our training and become part of the safety net for vulnerable young people on the rail network. The role will require working closely with British Transport Police, station staff and employees as well as local services in the area.

About the opportunity

The Training Officer will have a range of administrative responsibilities relating to Action Tutoring’s tutor training delivery and curriculum resources.

As Training Officer, you will support the Training Team by scheduling sessions in digital systems, organising and checking ID and DBS documents submitted by volunteer tutors, and responding to enquiries to support a smooth tutor journey. The role does not involve delivering training to volunteers

You will also support with managing the version history and corrections of our bespoke tutoring curriculum resources, helping keep our online library of materials accurate and up to date.

Duties and responsibilities

• Process DBS checks for volunteers (training provided). 
• Communicate with volunteers before and after training to guide them through the DBS process and resolve any issues.
• Schedule tutor training events in our CRM, Salesforce, and manage video conferencing set-up in Zoom.
• Support with maintaining and updating tutor training paths on our digital learning management system, 360Learning. 
• Manage the digital storage of our curriculum resources for staff and volunteers, maintaining accurate version control and assisting with corrections and updates.
• Any other ad hoc responsibilities as deemed relevant by the CEO.

We are looking for some of the following attributes, though you might be more experienced in some areas than others:

• Strong organisational skills; experience managing complex digital administrative processes with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience in assisting customers or other stakeholders with queries.
• Previous professional experience handling sensitive personal information appropriately.
• Proficiency in using Google Workspace.
• Evidence of adapting quickly to new software, including using video-conferencing software to set up events.
• Evidence of adapting quickly to using a CRM system.

You will likely be more successful in this role if you have: 

• Experience managing DBS applications, including supporting applicants with inquiries.
• Experience using Salesforce CRM for administration.
• Experience using Zoom to schedule online events.

Philanthropy Officer

The Edinburgh International Festival is looking for two Development Officers to help us present this unparalleled celebration of the performing arts, which brings some of the most exciting and creative artists working today to audiences from around the world.

We are expanding our small team by recruiting an Advice Support Officer. The post holder will providing support to Project 17’s frontline advice and advocacy service for people with no recourse to public funds. This includes organising destitution support, assisting with grant applications, and assisting with monitoring and evaluation.

The way people are accessing support is evolving and we need to ensure that we are developing support services that reflect the complex needs of a brain tumour diagnosis using a range of platforms - from a traditional phone line service to innovative, engaging and instant solutions.

Supporting children, young adults and their families - from those who are looking for general information about treatment or care, to those who need more detailed support from the point of diagnosis, you will be passionate about improving the lives of those affected by a brain tumour. You will be comfortable providing support and information across different channels; capable at breaking down complex, scientific information in an accessible and personalised manner; and committed to developing pioneering resources to support our community in smarter ways.

You’ll be able to work collaboratively, supporting the work of the Children & Families and Young Adults Team, in addition to assisting on our Adults Team.

• Provide high quality information which reflects the most up to date research, clinical information and treatments, in a way people can understand. Conducting the research yourself and adapting your communication to suit the person you are supporting is key

• Offer coaching guidance to empower individuals, helping them to achieve the appropriate next steps

• Plan and facilitate online and in person events for families, teenagers and young adults

• Lead on aspects of cross team projects and develop new resources that meet our community’s needs, while collaborating with other teams and external partners

• Provide support to our Young Ambassadors through coordinating activities and check ins, facilitating meetings, and enabling meaningful input into our Young Adults Service.

• Developing information for our website and other age-appropriate resources, for example, writing initial drafts and reviewing information

Overall Job Purpose

This role is pivotal in making sure the HR & Culture team is a credible, approachable and proactive department and supports staff and volunteers to achieve DENS’ organisational aims. As the first point of contact for advice and support on all aspects of the employee life cycle, from recruitment to exit, you’ll keep on top of tasks and take ownership of supporting staff and managers with their HR queries. Supported by the Head of HR & Culture, you will deliver a service that is timely, accurate, consistent and compliant.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Respond to all HR and training queries, support staff with their HR needs such as recruitment, induction, absence, pay and benefits, escalating to the Head of HR & Culture where needed.

• Support the Head of HR & Culture to review, develop and maintain standard frameworks and documents for all HR processes, to ensure consistency of approach and best practice across all teams at DENS.

• Take ownership for managing compliance within the employee life cycle, including onboarding, offboarding, ensuring letters are produced, spreadsheets/databases are updated and associated paperwork collected.

• Lead on recruitment of all posts, including preparing and posting job advertisements. Liaise with hiring managers to offer guidance on screening applications and interview questions, ensuring timely communication with candidates. Draft and issue offer letters, contracts of employment and other onboarding documentation

. • Carry out pre-employment checks including references, Right to Work and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks

. • Deliver the HR Induction for new starters and regularly review the induction process to ensure it is kept up to date and is accessible.

• Ensure payroll administration is accurately completed for the monthly cut-off date, in liaison with the Finance team and payroll provider.

• Maintain and monitor staff records, including training, appraisals, annual leave, sickness absence, ensuring that pay is adjusted accordingly in line with DENS’ policies.

• Run reports and review data on the HR system (Breathe), highlighting issues or concerns and working collaboratively to come up with ideas and solutions.

• Pension administration, ensure all our legal obligations are met and all eligible staff are signed up to the scheme, in liaison with the pension provider.

• Chair and coordinate the Mental Health Working Group

. • Update the staff handbook, phone lists and support key workforce projects e.g. wellbeing, mental health first aid, policy development, creating guidance tools and training – working with the Head of HR & Culture to communicate and promote to staff.

• Support the training and empowerment of line managers and act as their first point of contact for support with HR policies and processes and the informal stage of employee relations issues, under the guidance of the Head of HR & Culture.

• Responsible for some elements of estate management, including coordinating fire safety checks.

FUNDRAISING EVENTS OFFICER

The Down’s Syndrome Association (DSA) aims to create and develop the conditions that will enable people who have Down's syndrome to lead fulfilling and rewarding lives. We are seeking an organised and enthusiastic Fundraising Events Officer to join our fundraising team.

Reporting to the Fundraising and Events Manager, the successful candidate will manage all challenge events in the portfolio.  This includes the planning, organisation, marketing, delivery, recruitment and stewardship of participants and day to day administration for all DSA events.

The Main Responsibilities of the role are

Assist the Fundraising and Events Manager with future event plans and creating and building on our Community Fundraising offer.

Managing the Events Inbox; Replying to all enquiries coming into the inbox.

Attend and participate in events as required.  This may involve occasional evening and weekend work, for which you will receive equal time back in lieu.

To work in conjunction with the Fundraising Team in the production of budgets and in developing and implementing the Events teams strategic plans in order to maximise income and support across our events programme.

Identify and research new opportunities to develop the events programme and maximise income as well as maintaining and extending the existing events which generate a healthy ROI.

Manage the fundraising pages of the website ensuring copy is up to date and relevant and those events that require extra marketing are featured on the home page.

Emmaus UK is looking for a new Regional Communications Officer to directly support Emmaus communities in the North East and Yorkshire.

About the role

Our team of Regional Communications Officers support Emmaus communities and groups to increase their profile and engage supporters. You will work closely with up to four Emmaus charities to identify their communications needs, plan and deliver work to help achieve their goals.

You will have excellent skills and knowledge in communications, public relations and marketing with at least two years’ experience working in a busy and varied communications role. Although not essential, knowledge and understanding of homelessness and the charity sector would also be an advantage.

Within this hybrid role, you can be based at home or in an Emmaus community. Wherever you are located, maintaining ongoing positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders is vitally important. This role will suit someone located in Yorkshire or the North East as regular travel (usually at least one community visit per week) will be required to South Shields, Leeds and Hull.

About the role

The Grants Officer will join our small, hardworking, friendly team and will be responsible for overseeing the monthly grants programme. They will support the Director in collating the board papers for each of the three annual Trustees’ meetings. They will also be expected to help assess the large and medium grant applications that go through to the Trustees’ meetings. The new Grants Officer will be asked to visit charities and projects, which will entail travel across England and Wales. The new Grants Officer will also maintain the grants database, be responsible for updating the new website and be the first port of call for any grant application enquiries.

About you

This role would suit a range of candidates and we are open to candidates without direct grant making experience but the successful candidate will need a demonstrable understanding and knowledge of the grants world. We are particularly keen to hear from people who have energy, enthusiasm, good communication and relationship building skills and experience and confidence with databases. An understanding of how to read charity accounts would be a bonus but training will be provided for the chosen candidate. You will have an aptitude for working both independently and as part of a collaborative team and managing a varied and busy workload.
