The MEAM coalition has worked for fifteen years across more than 50 local areas in England, supporting local partnerships to tackle the structural and systemic issues that cause and sustain multiple disadvantage. We run the national MEAM Approach network, supported Fulfilling Lives from 2014-2022 and hold the current support contract for the Government and The National Lottery Community Fund’s Changing Futures programme. Our position enables us to bring learning together from these programmes to understand what drives change and allows people to make improvements in their lives.

This new role will be responsible for leading the implementation of our new network membership structure, and ensuring members are supported to actively participate in the MEAM Approach network. As the Membership Manager, you will build relationships with our network members, oversee communications to the network, manage our online community platform, and identify ways in which we can further support network members through commercial opportunities.  You will combine your deep knowledge of multiple disadvantage with a curious and collaborative approach to your work, demonstrating a genuine interest in developing and contributing to the growing knowledge and experience in systems thinking and systems leadership across the team. You will share your reflections and insights generously with the team and be open to positive challenge as you develop your practice. 

Your approach to work will embrace and embody MEAM’s unique approach developed over the last fifteen years: highly collaborative; practical yet ambitious support; and focused on rebalancing power in systems through meaningful coproduction. About First Give

First Give is a national charity that inspires young people to make a difference to the causes they care about. We do this through working in partnership with secondary schools, providing a fully resourced scheme of work that guides an entire year group of students to engage with local charities and causes and then carry out social action (fundraising, raising awareness, campaigning, volunteering etc.) in support of them.

Programme Manager role

Programme Managers are responsible for coordinating the delivery of the First Give programme in up to 60 schools. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate to join our team of Programme Managers.

Programme Managers support our schools to deliver the programme, engaging approximately 35,000 young people in social action for local causes. The schools this Programme Manager will work with are based in Wales and the West of England, plus some schools in London and the South East.

• Contract: Full time, fixed term maternity cover, approximately 11 month contract. 37.5 hours per week (9am-5.30pm but with occasional early starts and late finishes dependent on events and school visits).
• Salary: £32,000 – 34,000
• Location: Working from Wales-based home, with regular travel to schools in Wales and the West of England. Travel to First Give’s London office in West Hampstead and other locations in England and Wales for team meetings will be required, approximately once per month.

Key responsibilities

All Programme Managers have the following as ‘core’ responsibilities, to ensure the successful delivery and management of the First Give programme in schools:

• Manage relationships with teachers and school leaders to deliver the First Give programme
• Manage programmes using Salesforce
• Attend school Finals and other in school events
• Deliver First Give events (Assemblies, Workshops and Finals) where required
• Renew schools onto the programme year-on-year
• Support recruitment and management of school facilitators as appropriate
• Provide logistic and programme support to teachers delivering the First Give programme at their school, including but not limited to:
  • an introductory Programme Call with the Lead teacher;
  • delivering a briefing to class teachers;
  • responding to queries via phone and email;
  • booking in First Give facilitated sessions
• Collect data for monitoring (student surveys; case studies; teacher surveys)
• Recruit a minimum of one judge per School Final from the wider community

The Royal Hospital Chelsea is the home of the Chelsea Pensioners (known as In-Pensioners). The Tenancy & Contributions Officer will lead on the delivery and continuing evolution of the tenancy agreement (known as the In-Pensioner Agreement). Part of the delivery of the agreement will be coordinating the process of setting and reviewing In-Pensioner’s personal financial contribution to the Royal Hospital. The role also requires the individual to support with benefit applications as required, as well as undertake other housing management related tasks on behalf of the organisation.

You, as the Team Manager will support a team of housing support workers to support our young customers to remain in their home and take an active part in the community.

Both schemes are part of Peabody's well established Young Persons and Complex Needs service in London and will provide temporary housing for young people who are homeless aged between 16 to 17 years.

Position: Senior Grant and Trust Fundraiser

Location: London or West Midlands/hybrid (with frequent travel to London if you are based in the West Midlands)

Hours: Full-time, 37.5hours, flexible working

Salary: Up to £35,000 (depending on experience)

The Role

You will be instrumental in securing the funding, which the organisation needs to continue to deliver and develop its services, across a wide range of functions and projects. You will be an entrepreneurial, knowledgeable fundraiser, adept at finding the right opportunities to fit the right projects. You will also be meticulous and organised in your approach to stewardship, maintaining contact with funders and working with colleagues to collate the information needed for reporting.

The fundraising strategy contains plans to further develop specific areas of fundraising such as individual giving, corporate partnerships and legacies, and you may be called upon to support the Head of Fundraising in putting plans together for the implementation of these, working alongside the Senior Administrator (Fundraising and Communications).

About You

You will have experience in a fundraising, philanthropy or relationship management role and a track record of success in securing at least five-figure donations from grant and trust funders.

You will have:

· Knowledge of digital fundraising approaches

· Outstanding writing and communication skills

· The ability to understand financial language and budgets

· Strong research and prospecting skills

· The capacity to build excellent relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally

· Experience of measuring impact and delivering evaluation reports

The person

You will be part of the Young People’s Services Team who provide a range of services and activities for young wheelchair users and their families. You will have a friendly and professional approach to working with families and professionals and be highly organised to manage planning, delivery and relevant paperwork for all wheelchair skills services. • Understanding and familiarity of good practice and law around child protection, disability discrimination and equal opportunities legislation, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection.

• The ability to teach and demonstrate wheelchair skills, using a wheelchair.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.

• Ability to motivate children and young people of all ages.

• The ability to deliver training using coaching/teaching skills.

Experience

• Experience of working directly with disabled children, young people and their families.

• Lived experience of being a wheelchair user and/or experience of delivering wheelchair skills training is preferable.

• Demonstratable experience of delivering training, teaching or coaching.

• Youth work experience.

• Experience of risk management procedures.

The vacancy

Could you be a Caseworker for vulnerable young people? Could you give them the support and guidance they need to get back on their feet and live independently?

The young people we work with have become homeless for a number of reasons – isolation or mental ill health, abusive relationships, substance misuse, involvement in gangs/county lines - their issues are complex so you will need to be able to build strong, trusting relationships so that our customers feel safe and supported. 

We are opening two new supported housing schemes in Lewisham.  Both schemes are part of our well-established Young Persons and Complex Needs service in London and will provide temporary housing for young people aged 16-17 who are experiencing homelessness.

A bit about the role:

As a Caseworker, you will be working with a team of highly motivated, compassionate, and dedicated colleagues supporting a caseload of young customers with complex needs. You’ll need to meet each customer weekly to help them with their goals and discuss their progress. And, when someone’s ready to move on, we'll rely on you to help them access the housing register or look for suitable rented accommodation.

What we’re looking for:

You may have worked with vulnerable young people in a paid or voluntary capacity, maybe as a Youth Worker or in an education setting providing pastoral care. You’re a great relationship builder, who can create trust so that our young people feel comfortable sharing their issues with you, you listen but in a non-judgemental way and you are able to spot signs for concern and act on them.

You’ll also need to be able to work on your own, sometimes dealing with challenging situations and diffusing them to avoid escalation. Is this you?
