We are seeking a creative and dynamic Social Media Manager to join our Strategic Communications and Content Unit. This newly-created role manages a Social Media Officer, and works closely with Media, External Relations, Brand and Content teams in the Unit as well as a variety of colleagues across the organisation.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with our mission and goals. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our online presence and driving engagement with our supporters, creating and curating content that resonates with a range of audiences and inspires our online community to take action. You will lead on monitoring and analysing our social media activity in order to continuously improve our approaches. And you’ll forge strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, from influencers and partners to fundraising and programme colleagues in a variety of global contexts.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in social media campaign strategy and community management, ideally with line management experience. They will possess a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, analytical skills, and ability to react to trends and external events. The role:
This part time (0.6FTE) post is located within the core services Team, and reports to the CEO. The postholder works closely across the organisation to deliver an efficient Office management, Reception and basic HR service to all managers and staff.
Aims of the post
• To manage the office, coordinating volunteers to provide reception and administrative services.
• To coordinate and procure office and IT equipment.
• To carry out HR administration tasks acting as a first point of contact for managers and staff.
Specific Responsibilities
Office management
• Dealing with customer & external queries and disputes dealing with in bound and out bound communication, such as hybrid mail, post, phone calls and customer satisfaction surveys.
• Organise Reception rota and cover, enabling opening hours to be fully resourced.

• Managing phone and IT systems, contributing to new projects and upgrades.

Main Conditions of Service
This is a part time position. The post is for 22.5 hours per week. It is expected that the hours will be delivered on 3 full days (to be agreed) each week but alternative arrangements, ie 4.5 hours per day for 5 days, may be acceptable. Duties will occasionally be carried out over evenings and some public holidays. Overtime is not paid but in line with Agile working, hours can be averaged out over a 2-week period.
Annual leave entitlement is 26 days per year plus normal bank holidays pro rata. This will rise after each completed year of service to a maximum of 30 days – pro rata.
Salaries and expenses are based on PBHA’s salary scales and are revised each year. The salary for this post will be in the range of £35,692 pro rata per annum and the starting salary is £35,692 (£21,415 for 22.5 hours per week).
The post holder will be auto enrolled to be a member of the organisation's contributory pension scheme if eligible.
In common with all posts at PBHA, confirmation of appointment is subject to a probationary period (6 months). The notice period for this role is four weeks.

What the job involves
This is an exciting opportunity to join our vibrant Brand and Media (Attention) team within our wider Communications directorate. As the Media and Communications Manager, you’ll be the team’s lead on Health Services, Equity and Improvement (including policy and campaigns) and Research communications, delivering impactful media moments which inspire action and drive positive change for men with, or at risk of, prostate cancer.
You’ll raise the profile of the cause and the brand, co-managing the activity of the charity’s media relations function and protecting the organisation’s principles and reputation. The impactful media messaging that you provide to a range of audiences will secure hard-hitting and compelling coverage, you can see our latest news stories on the Research and Treatment sections of our website.
You’ll also be acting as line manager to the Senior Media and Communications Officer.
What we want from you
We’re looking for an inspiring and strategic storyteller, you’ll be an expert in leading communications projects to inspire action and drive change and with a track record of generating media coverage to deliver messages to a range of audiences.
You’ll be an excellent communicator with a strong understanding of different communication channels and have specialist knowledge of media relations. The Role
The PR Manager plays a central role, working closely with the Head of Media to manage the public relations function of the charity. You will be responsible for helping to develop and execute prominent and high impact national and regional media campaigns, to help people better understand the mission and take action to support it.

- Building effective working relationships with professions across the organisation and their leadership that are intrinsic to the programme (e.g. procurement, technology, internal communications, change management etc.) as well as with key suppliers.
- Implementing and maintaining programme governance and delivery in line with the organisation's approach to these for strategic programmes.
- Working in deep cooperation with the Transformation Management Office (TMO) Team to ensure coherence with the charity's strategic change Portfolio of which HRIS forms a part. Planning and working closely with other programmes in the Portfolio to manage any interdependencies effectively.
Requirements:
- Leadership: Proven track record of having successfully led end-to end enterprise-wide HR information systems implementation programmes that have human change at their core.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of HRIS functionalities, including but not limited to data structures and system configuration, with proficiency in configuring and customising HRIS systems to meet specific organisational requirements. Ability to lead effectively inputs from technical programme team members.
- Change Management Expertise: Strong background in human change management enterprise-wide in complex environments.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align programme deliverables with strategic goals and articulate programme vision and ongoing delivery against this vision to stakeholders at all levels.
- Relationship Building: Excellent skills in stakeholder engagement and relationship management, with the ability to navigate a complex multi-stakeholder environment, building effective partnership working across the charity to support programme delivery.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to foresee potential challenges and proactively develop appropriate mitigation strategies.

This exciting role will work closely with the Director of Fundraising, Individual Giving Manager and Digital Marketing Manager to develop a strategy, plan and key performance metrics for digital donor acquisition and fundraising. Already expert and excited by digital fundraising campaign development, you’ll have a unique combination of creative and business skills. These will enable you to create engaging digital content and through your expertise in paid search, google grants and paid social, optimise the ROI for Starlight in terms of donor engagement, acquisition, and income. You’ll be curious and take time to understand how we’re supporting children in healthcare settings which will enable you to create content that resonates with our key audiences. Finally, alongside strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, you will be proactive and results-driven with a ‘can do’ attitude to work.
