Elders Voice is a charity supporting older people in the London Borough of Brent. Our mission is to enable older people to live safely and independently in the homes of their choosing and lead happier and healthier lives. We do this by providing a variety of services and activities, including a Handyperson Service and a Day Centre.

The Handyperson Service is our flagship service; it’s been in existence for 35 years and is highly valued by the older people who use it. The service aims to prevent accidents in the home and enable older people to live safely by carrying out basic repairs and improvements, and the installation of small equipment such as grab rails, which support mobility. Jobs include things like changing lightbulbs, hanging curtains and putting up shelves. Our handy team have decades of experience between them, and an exceptional reputation in the borough.

We are looking for a Handyperson Service Coordinator to oversee the Handyperson Service and be responsible for all aspects of facilities management at our premises in Kensal Green.

Role: Handyperson Service Coordinator

Salary: £18,000 per annum (FTE £30,000) 

Hours: 21 hours per week

Handyperson Service

• Undertake all administrative tasks relating to the effective and efficient running of the Handyperson Service with meticulous attention to detail and record keeping.
• Coordinate the handy team and provide supervision and support.
• Promote service within borough and maintain relationships with Brent Adult Social Care, healthcare bodies and other statutory & voluntary sector organisations.
• Work with CEO in developing and expanding service.

Facilities Management

• Oversee all contracts related to Health & Safety and building maintenance.
• Carry out inspection of premises and flag areas requiring maintenance and repair.
• Ensure premises meets government regulations, health & safety standards and energy efficiency requirements.

As the new Challenge Events Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing The Passage's Challenge Events Fundraising strategy, designed to inspire and engage both existing and new supporters, ultimately building a stable and sustainable income pipeline.

You will be responsible for overseeing the planning and creation of engaging content for emails to build a strong sense of community. They are now recruiting for a Support Service Manager (initially on a 6 month fixed term contract), to oversee a small team of Employability Coaches providing person-centred support to a caseload of women, helping to get them ‘work ready’.

As Support Service Manager you will oversee a small team of 4 and will support your team in building trusting relationships with the women in their caseload, helping to equip service users with the skills, tools and mindsets in order to secure and sustain employment. You will hold a small caseload of around 5-10 women and will ensure that new cases are allocated, and caseload volumes are managed in a way that mitigates the need for a waiting list, while being within colleague’s capacity. The Advice Services Manager will take the lead on BIAS’s day-to-day advice services, managing a small team of welfare and housing advice specialists to ensure that we provide the highest-quality service to our clients. You will need to have experience of delivering front-line benefits and/or housing advice, strong people skills and the ability to build good working relationships with staff and clients, along with excellent organisational abilities to ensure that casework and projects are delivered on time.

In 2025, BIAS is expanding its successful Brent-based welfare and housing advice service into Haringey borough. The Advice Services Manager will work closely with the Operations Manager to build and develop the new advice service in Haringey, ensuring that we replicate our excellent quality of service, strong record of positive outcomes and loyal client base.

This role will also involve working with the leadership team to help identify areas for future development and support grant applications and reporting, which will give you the opportunity to have a direct impact on shaping the organisation’s future strategy and direction.

KEY WORK AREAS AND MAIN DUTIES

Staff management

• Managing a small advice team, ensuring the quality of the advice provided.

These are the basic duties required of the Advice Services Manager. BIAS is a local charity which has supported England’s largest Irish community in Brent for over forty-five years. We deliver our support through our welfare advice drop-in service, our active ageing clubs and our Be-a-Friend volunteer scheme. The charity provides support to vulnerable parents with pre-school aged children living in the borough of Gravesham, supporting up to 85 families at any given time.  Waterside offers 1:1 support, peer group sessions, structured family sessions, access to local agency clinics, counselling services, and courses, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year.

Reporting to the Chair of Trustees, you will work with the team, trustees and external providers to ensure the delivery of impactful services and cultivation of strong partnerships in order to respond to the local needs of our families. 

The Centre Manager role will be expected to work from the centre the majority of the time as it is important to have a presence with the families and staff. On occasion, when it is required to meet key deadlines, working from home is supported but this is on an ad-hoc basis and not part of a regular working pattern.

About the role
In this role you will provide advice and guidance to the organisation on all HR related matters, seeking additional support from specialist teams where required (ranging from policy advice, change, recruitment, reward, learning and development and transactional HR).

You will play a proactive role in the delivery of a customer and commercially focused service to employees of Macmillan, working at pace to resolve queries and deliver the monthly payroll (including new starters, movers, leavers, family leave and other contractual changes within SLAs and to an exceptional degree of accuracy).

As a Colleague Support Coordinator you will support the wider function in looking after the team inbox as well as telephone lines on a rota basis in order to best support our current and prospective employees.

About you
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Experience of providing advice and guidance via email and telephone in a service focused environment (HR related preferred but not essential)
• Experience of working at pace and under pressure to deliver against multiple deadlines with great attention to detail
• Excellent customer service skills and a customer focused mindset
• Experience of using MS Office, specifically MS Word and MS Excel

We are recruiting a high energy and hands on Garden Manager to work closely with the Senior Leadership team at Sufra to support the development and expansion of the community garden, and manage the team of garden staff and volunteers. We are excited to announce that in September we are opening two new clubs in Bromley borough (location to be confirmed).  One club will be for Juniors (4-8 years) and one club for Seniors (12-16 years).  We are seeking support workers for these new clubs.

Working under the supervision of Programme Delivery Managers and Supervisors, key responsibilities include: 

• Programme support and activity delivery. This includes delivering activities for members at the clubs during term time and school holiday activities.

• Supporting members with their engagement and development in activities, both educationally and socially. 

Salary Band: £ 13.85 per hour

Working Pattern:  Weekday(s): late afternoons and evenings.  School holidays: mornings and afternoons. Weekend trips.
