Salary: £24,745 per annum

Full-time: Full-time (40 hours per week) with a 30 min paid lunch break. This includes a weekend shift. You will also be rostered to work on bank holidays.

Our client’s Emergency Accommodation offers short-term accommodation (23 bedrooms), as well as support, meals, and laundry facilities. Staff work with other services to provide a tailored package for each person while helping them towards moving into longer-term accommodation.

They are currently looking for two Support Workers. 

What sort of person are they looking for? A person who has a desire to help people who are experiencing homelessness. You may already have knowledge and understanding of homelessness, maybe through a previous job, as a volunteer, or through your own lived experience. You will be the sort of person who sees people experiencing rough sleeping, sofa surfing eviction or living in temporary accommodation as a person, not just as ‘rough sleepers’ or ‘service users’. 

You will be self-aware, compassionate, non-judgemental, and have a strong degree of emotional intelligence. You will have excellent skills in communication, prioritisation, and administration and be open to gaining new insight and understanding. 

You will be motivated to find solutions for service users, and you are key working through partnership work internally and externally. You have the ability to manage complex behaviours and to support service users who may be in difficult situations. You will be a team player who supports colleagues and helps the team to offer the best possible service.

An opportunity has arisen for a lead Support worker to work within our Sanctuary crisis intervention and prevention service, based in Fore Street in Enfield. We act as a short-term A&E and Emergency services alternative, providing support to individuals in the Enfield Borough aged 18+. 

This role is to provide leadership and support to the Sanctuary team on shift. The role will:

• Lead shifts during the week, providing support to team members via case management support, escalation, Health and Safety guidance
• Support the Sanctuary Manager to embed processes within the service, and ensure that these are carried out
• Work alongside the Manager and team to ensure that the service is operating to high quality standard.
• Provide support in times of emotional distress for clients. The support worker will provide a calm, supportive presence.

 The role will support clients through co-producing support plans with practical and therapeutic support offerings, as well as contributing to the development of a warm welcoming environment and ‘safe space’ to be.

This position would suit someone with a minimum of 2 years experience of working with people with mild, moderate and severe mental health issues.

The Tenancy Support Worker will be required to provide floating support to clients living in supported housing or privately rented accommodation. This role will operate 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

The 24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line is a partnership between Rape Crisis England and Wales, the Rape and Sexual Abuse support Centre (RASASC - Rape Crisis South London) and two other Rape Crisis Centres (ARCH Teesside and Lincolnshire Rape Crisis). The post-holder will provide emotional support, information and signposting to survivors of any form of sexual violence, of any gender, aged 16 and upwards, and their supporters via phone calls and chats. A bit about the role:

As a Outreach Support Worker, you will provide a service where planned support and crisis intervention is delivered to vulnerable people with low, medium and high support needs living in independent accommodation with the aim of them maintaining their home.

Responsibilities

·Providing for the social, personal, educational and leisure needs of children and young people (including those with additional needs) by assisting in the running, organisation and delivery of particular projects.

·Establishing positive relationships with all children and young people supporting and enabling them to increase their confidence and realise their potential, fully integrating them into all project activities. 

·Coordinating resources and to develop opportunities for children and young people which reflects their particular needs and circumstances. 

·Facilitating the active involvement of the children and young people in the planning anddevelopment of the project programme. 

·Facilitating the positive integration of children and young people with disabilities, behavioural difficulties and/or additional needs within the project. 

·Providing for the personal care needs of the children and young people as required including toileting, changing and feeding. 

·Supporting and guiding volunteers, trainees and junior leaders in all of the above, as required. 

·Working as a member of the AAA team to ensure the safety and well-being of the children and young people being supervised including day to day 'housekeeping' of the site and maintenance of equipment. 

·Liaising with parents, carers and other organisations and professionals as required.

·Adapting activities to meet a child's/young person’s needs as appropriate. 

·Carrying out health and safety inspections as required. 

·Adhering to AAA policies and procedures in respect of safeguarding children and young people.

·Administering medication and/or carry out tube feeding as required, if appropriate training successfully completed.

Lester Court is a supported living service, serving the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The service will supports seven adults with learning disabilities to thrive.

Specialist Support Workers within Look Ahead are required to have either an extra dimension of experience or a higher qualification level as determined relevant for the particular post. Specialist Support Workers provide information, social inclusion and vocational opportunities to support people to recover and stay well; exercise choice and control in their care and lives; and participate on an equal footing in the community. Support is also provided to develop a model of re-enablement towards self-advocacy, self-management and empowerment, incorporating the principles and practice of recovery, co-production and peer support.

What you'll do:

Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers and creating a positive atmosphere
Carrying out holistic assessments of new customers which incorporate relevant statutory referral information
Conducting regular key work sessions that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals
Create support plans for providing appropriate services based on on-going assessment and reflecting the services and resources available to enable customer to progress in their recovery
Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with customers within an attitude of positive risk taking
Provide support and access to relevant services to enable customers to continue their recovery and empower customers to self-manage their medication regimes through individual re-enablement programmes and informed decision making
Undertake support work in partnership with external stakeholders to compliment their interventions
Developing productive relationships with partner organisations to improve service outcomes
Demonstrate strong commitment to the functioning of the staff team and to support colleagues in providing a high level of service and safety to customers
Involving customers in the design, development and delivery of the service
Adhering to lone working protocols and maintaining high levels of awareness in relation to the health and safety of yourself and colleagues
Ensuring Look Ahead Health and Safety policies and local protocols are adhered to at all times e.g. fire risk assessments, fire alarm checks etc.

Bank Support Workers have the ability to accept any shifts available on an ad-hoc basis across from all of Look Ahead's specialisms including Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Homelessness and Young People. Bank Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices. Within Learning Disability services, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional and social care. Within Mental Health and Homelessness services they will enable vulnerable people living in a variety of different tenures to manage their tenancies/ licences and move towards greater independence within the community by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package. While carrying out activities, Bank Support Workers should deal with all customers, visitors and staff in a professional and appropriate manner and report to Look Ahead staff and management any observations relating to customers' welfare.

What you'll do:

Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities

 About this key role

Working as part of a multi-agency team, we will count on you to lead by example, be the day-to-day expert within team, and be a positive role model to the team of caseworkers.  Using a strength-based approach, you will provide support, advice and advocacy for young people and their families regarding accommodation, working through person-centred support plans designed to promote choice and control for young people.  You will ensure, on a day-to-day basis, that all monitoring information and evidence is being recorded and collated correctly, and that you promote inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process and include appropriate agencies in the delivery of the service. 

The delivery of a holistic support service, working solo or with colleagues as the situation dictates, is also a crucial element of this role, where you will provide practical guidance on issues such as social and housing support, ETE options, benefits work, debt advice and cleaning.  Promoting the value of lifestyle changes to the young people being supported and operating within clear professional boundaries are also key duties.

• Experience of using support plans to enable young people to successfully access and sustain accommodation and support services.

• Experience of providing support, advice and advocacy.

• Substantial experience of assessing risk and implementing safety procedures when thinking about young people involved in or at risk of violence or exploitation.

• A relevant qualification to a good standard or be working towards one.
