ASSIST Sheffield provides vital support to people who are seeking sanctuary and have been made destitute by the UK’s asylum system. We offer accommodation, casework, welfare support, and solidarity in a system that too often excludes and harms. 

We are looking for a capable and committed Client Support and Engagement Worker to join our team. This role requires someone with strong organisational skills, a calm and thoughtful approach, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by people with insecure immigration status.

You will work across our Client Support and Accommodation Teams, supporting clients with practical casework, supporting our new referrals process, and ensuring effective access to our welfare, interpreting, and accompanying support. You will also lead on the administrative coordination of the Accompanying Team, with some development responsibilities.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same — combining 1:1 work with clients, behind-the-scenes coordination, and collaborative working with volunteers and colleagues. You’ll be supported to work in a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive way that centres client dignity and autonomy.

Role Purpose

You will be responsible for building and maintaining partnerships with hyperlocal, local, and national businesses, stewarding the organisations to become Mustard Tree’s partners, and for us to be their ‘Charity of the Year’, donating to and fundraising for the charity.

You will manage an existing caseload of these valued partners, with the opportunity to proactively create new relationships and partnerships, contacting through multiple channels, creating content, and hosting, touring, and presenting to businesses.

In addition to corporate partnerships, you will manage the recruitment and stewardship of Mustard Tree’s events fundraisers, being responsible for the administration, making sure all places are filled, planning the events, and helping all participants hit their fundraising targets.

Main Duties

Corporate Partnership

• Steward a cohort of existing Corporate Partners through email updates, calls, social media activity and booking monthly check-ins, as well as sharing infographics, case studies, events information, and newsletters when useful.
• Proactively build new relationships, ultimately securing new donors, partners, and ‘Charity of the Year’ organisations. Make it clear and easy for donors to understand what we do, how they can help, and the impact they will have.
• Host, tour, or present at a minimum of four organisations per week.
• Manage inquiries, emails, and queries relating to partnerships, corporate donations, volunteering, and events, ensuring timely responses.
• Manage the partnership inbox and work with the Fundraising team on our corporate bookings calendar.
• Work with the Fundraising and Volunteer Coordinator to plan and book Social Value Days for partners and prospective partners.
• Collaborate with the Fundraising and Communications team to develop and publish copy, advertisements, social media content, and create WordPress pages relevant to Corporate Partnership and Events.
• Host Corporate Partners for their volunteering inductions and debriefs and follow up with a thank-you email the same week.
• Manage data entry and administration surrounding partnerships, including communication, contacts, setting targets, and funds raised, through software and our CRM, for example.
• Work with the Fundraising Manager to assign new and existing partners
• Provide weekly updates on targets and expected income, and work to provide accurate forecasting.

Events Fundraising

• Manage our existing events portfolio of The Great Manchester Run, Tough Mudder, Trafford Abseil, October Half Marathon, being responsible for their success.
• Investigate and develop new events to complement our 12-month calendar.
• Empower organisations to plan independent fundraising events and create a fundraising toolkit to support this.
• Support the running of our October Fundraising Dinner
• Work with the Fundraising Manager to project events income and build a 12-month fundraising pipeline.

General Duties

• Supporting the Fundraising Team et al, including administration, cover, and events attendance when required.
• Support the Fundraising & Finance Teams with data entry, CRM updates, and the creation of KPI data when required.
• Work within health & safety guidelines and Mustard Tree policies and procedures.
• Support other staff and departments, occasionally providing practical relief cover for work-streams, operational areas, classes and clubs.
•  Take responsibility for professional development, attending training courses as required.

The Accommodation Advisor provides housing support, information, advice, and guidance (IAG) to men within the criminal justice system, ensuring successful resettlement into accommodation. Managing a high caseload, the role operates within tight key performance indicators (KPIs), supporting individuals both in the community and at HMP Hewell.

The People’s Empowerment Alliance for Custom House (PEACH) is dedicated to empowering its members and improving local conditions through collective action. Our Community Organiser plays a crucial role in contributing to our ongoing Permanent, Safe Homes Now campaign, which aims to set a precedent for housing reform nationwide. Our mission is to drive meaningful change and empower communities facing social injustice across the UK.

As part of our team, you'll contribute to expanding and strengthening PEACH's membership and influence. This involves planning and executing strategic campaigns collaboratively, which aim to address key issues our members face. Job Description: :

● To support the Custom House and Canning Town community to grow and develop, working with them to build their sense of belonging, community pride and spirit. 

● To listen to local people, to support them to develop power to act together for the common good and help them act on the local issues that are important to them.

● Contribute to developing PEACH's collective power as a Community Union in collaboration with members, Steering Group, Trustees/Directors, and fellow staff members. Oversee the execution of this strategy.

● Cultivate a thriving organising culture at PEACH by training members and staff in community organising methods, continually learning and reflecting on organising practices, and refining the PEACH organising model, including creating training materials.

● Build strong, transformative relationships with new and existing PEACH members through door-knocking and relational 1 to 1’s.

● Identify community leaders, nurture members' leadership skills, and foster strong teams. Challenge and support members/teams to acquire new skills, take on new tasks and take ownership of the organisation and its projects/campaigns.

Thank you for your interest in this post. The school opened its doors in January 2023 for autistic children, originally in temporary accommodation.  Children and staff have just moved into a permanent purpose-built school . The school roll is currently 47 increasing to 70 in the next academic year.

The Hawthorns House, where the residential provision will be offered, is situated in a brand-new purpose-built house with 10 bedrooms next to the site of the school. The build is due to be completed in Summer 2025.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to become part of and contribute to a new residential staff team. We are looking for a dedicated, passionate and committed Residential Team Members. These positions involve working with autistic children aged 7-16 years.  The residential provision will cater for 10 pupils, with a gradual transition to its full capacity as the residential team develops.

The vision for the residential provision is to provide pupils with further opportunities to grow, learn, achieve and aspire to become participants in our local community. Our mission is to achieve this through secure relationships with residential staff in an environment providing outstanding care, to build the basis for a fulfilling life for children with autism.

As Chief Executive, you will lead the staff team, be responsible for providing overall strategic direction, coordination and management of all CAP programmes. Partnership building is a key role to maximise our impact.

Church Action on Poverty is a medium sized social justice charity, with a vision for the UK to become a country where everyone can flourish free from poverty. We are an ecumenical organisation with a Christian ethos and roots in the churches who remain key partners for us. We support programmes across the UK improving the lives of people in poverty and create opportunities for those with lived experience to voice their concerns with the aim of educating the public to raise awareness and understanding in line with our charitable objectives.

Currently, our programmes are structured on the principles of dignity, agency and power. They comprise: supporting a network of 130 food pantries with a membership of over 50,000; enabling people with lived experience of poverty to speak truth to power and supporting churches to explore what it means to be a ‘church on the margins’ as well as playing a leading role in high profile national campaigns.

It is anticipated that the role will be varied and flexible, but will include:

• Assisting the CAP Council of Management in the development and implementation of the organisation's programmes, campaigns, partnership building and public affairs work. 

• Managing CAP's staff and resources in line with the organisation's agreed policies and priorities, and core values of collaboration, participation and empowerment. 

• Fundraising and organisational strategy to achieve our aims.

Key responsibilities 

1. Supporting CAP's Council of Management in its governance function

• Maintaining regular contact with the CAP Chairperson and Officer Group. 

• Providing regular written reports to CAP's Council of Management and attending all meetings of the CAP Council of Management and Officers Group. 

• Agreeing and implementing an annual planning cycle with the Council of Management, in line with CAP’s strategic values and vision.

2. Ensuring the effective management of CAP's staff team by: 

• Providing day-to-day management and support for the Senior Management and Leadership Team.

Building partnerships and contribute to the shared leadership and development of a movement based on dignity, agency and power with people and struggling communities against poverty, by

• Working with a wide range of partners and people with lived experience, to connect and build networks of people and groups who are committed to challenging poverty.

• Ensuring that CAP works collaboratively, leading CAP's involvement in strategic coalitions, alliances and other movement building opportunities.

• Ensuring CAP’s work is informed by the insights of people with lived experience of poverty, as well as wider public policy, debate and research. 

• Ensuring that CAP’s views are shared with government, politicians, churches and others, where possible, led by people with lived experience of poverty.

6. Membership and supporters
Working with CAP’s Communications and Supporter Relations manager to ensure the recruitment and retention of members, donors and supporters by ensuring that: 

• CAP members are provided with regular mailings and appropriate support for local/national activity. 

• Ensuring that requests from CAP members and others for information and support are dealt with appropriately. 

• Overseeing resources for Challenge Poverty Week and Poverty Sunday

7. Public Profile
In collaboration with CAP's Council of Management and staff, ensuring that CAP maintains a high profile within both the church and secular media, including: 

• Ensuring CAP contributes effectively to public and media debate, including mainstream secular and church media, TV, radio and new/social media etc.

• Prioritising opportunities for people with lived experience to act as spokespeople and the public face for CAP.

• Attending and speaking at appropriate conferences and events making sure that CAP is represented at key events.

• Representing CAP views to national, regional and local government.

8. Theological Development
Facilitating the development of theological and other resources which reflect 

• the lived experience of people and communities struggling against poverty, biblical sources, personal faith and other theological writing.

• wider analysis of social, political and economic issues.

Accountability and relationships 

The Chief Executive is accountable to the elected Council of Management. Regular contact is maintained with the Officers Group, and in particular the Chair.

The Chief Executive provides line management to the other members of the Senior Leadership and Management Team, and works closely with other members of the CAP staff team, and external partners.

Duration: Permanent contract with six month probationary period.

Hours: 35 hours per week including occasional 'unsocial' hours, weekend working and overnight travelling for which Time Off in Lieu is provided.

Salary: Church Action on Poverty Salary Band L, starting at scale point 43 on the NJC scales (currently £52,805 pay award pending).  Rising by increments after 3 years and every 2 years thereafter to point 46 (currently £56,073), paid monthly on the 14th day of each month.

Pension: Church Action on Poverty operates the Nest auto-enrolment pension scheme, and contributes a 10% employer contribution provided the staff member commits to making a 5% employee contribution.

Along with the Assistant Head of Individual Giving, the Supporter Acquisition Managers are  responsible for growing the organisation’s file of donors and hitting an annual Individual Giving team fundraising target of £50 million in unrestricted income. As a direct marketing subject matter expert, they will lead cold recruitment campaigns and support in identifying and delivering new products or acquisition streams. The roles will lead on planning and project managing delivery of a variety of media channels, both online and offline. Each manager will hold strategic areas of focus, be responsible for seven figure expenditure budgets and line manage a Supporter Acquisition Officer or Executive.

The successful candidates will have significant direct marketing expertise with a strong background in project managing multiple campaigns across a range of channels, ideally in a fundraising role, and with proven success at recruiting new donors.  You will have a passion for fundraising with a commercial understanding of the charity marketplace and competitors. About the Departments:

Both roles sit within the Cathedral and Church Buildings (CCB) Department, which supports the care and sustainable development of the Church of England's 42 cathedrals and 16,000 church buildings, of which 12,500 are listed, to help fulfil the vision and strategy of the Church of England. It also supports dioceses with the disposal of church buildings no longer required for worship and finding them a new future. Through advice, guidance, advocacy and fundraising, the Department provides strategic support on conservation and caring for historic church buildings, making change to support worship and communities, and working towards Net Zero Carbon 2030. Members of the Department engage with dioceses, parishes and cathedral teams, as well as nationally with government, agencies, charities, funders, General Synod and across the National Church Institutions to make the case for church buildings and their vital role in worship, community and national life.

Buildings for Mission team

The Buildings for Mission project is an initiative of the Department funded by the Church Commissioners from the 2023-25 triennium allocations. It is providing £11m of support to dioceses and parishes through advice and grants, structured around three main activities. The Church Buildings Support Officers (CBSO) Grant Scheme supports salary and related costs for new posts to provide advice to parishes on repair and maintenance and on developing the wider use and support for churches through community engagement. The Minor Repairs and Improvements Grants Fund is devolving £6.2m to dioceses to distribute in the form of grants for urgent and necessary small-scale repair projects or improvement projects. The Church Buildings Management Partnerships (CBMPs) initiative aims at the formation of partnerships to provide maintenance and insurance services to member churches. Pilot projects are being grant-aided over the period 2025-26.

The Grants Officer role within the Buildings for Mission team will provide a responsive service for the grant schemes under the Buildings for Mission initiative:

• The Church Buildings Support Officers (CBSO) Grant Scheme,
• The Minor Repairs and Improvements Grants Fund, and
• The Church Buildings Management Partnerships (CBMP) pilots.

Net Zero Carbon Programme

The Net Zero Carbon Programme was established to help the Church of England to deliver its commitment to reaching Net Zero Carbon by 2030. It aims to aims to equip, resource and support all parts of the Church to reduce carbon emissions from the energy used in its buildings, schools and through work-related transport by 2030. The team manages the distribution of a grant portfolio worth £190 million across 2023-31, aimed at supporting and equipping dioceses, parishes and other parts of the Church to reach the milestones set out in the Routemap to Net Zero 2030.

The Grants Officer role within the Net Zero Carbon programme will play a vital role in supporting the work of the Net Zero Carbon Programme's grant streams, supporting it in delivering a consistent and responsive service to grantees.

In both roles, duties will include:

• Assisting the Grants Manager with general operation and oversight of the schemes
• Providing a knowledgeable and responsive service to dioceses as first point of contact for the grant schemes
• Handling general enquiries and pre-application engagement, assessing and responding to expressions of interest from prospective applicants
• Handling a caseload of live grants

Key role requirements:

• For the Buildings for Mission role, the post-holder will be required to come into the primary office location (Church House) or another NCI or diocesan office location (subject to agreement with relevant office management) a minimum of one day per week.
• For the Net Zero Carbon Programme role, the post-holder will required to be home-based, with regular meetings in Church House Westminster and occasional travel elsewhere (up to two days per month).
• These are both fixed-term contracts, Buildings for Mission team (12 month contract) and Net Zero Carbon Programme (12 month contract). There is a possibility that these contract lengths could be extended to the end of 2028, but this is dependant on further funding being agreed.
• You will need to have knowledge/experience of historic and/or natural environment conservation or heritage management OR experience working in the environment or sustainability sector (depending on which role you choose to apply for).
• Both roles require good written/spoken communication skills, good interpersonal skills, ability to work well both on own initiative and good analytical skills.
