Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea

Healthwatch was set up in 2013 to champion the rights of health and social care users, and hold the health and social care system to account for how well it engages with the public. Its remit covers all publicly funded health and social care services for adults and children.

The Advocacy Project delivers Healthwatch services in Kensington & Chelsea, Brent and Westminster – three of 152 local Healthwatch organisations. We’re building on the important work that’s been done to date, while bringing new insights from the voices of seldom heard and hard to hear groups. 

About the role

The role is to lead the work of Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea, working with a small skilled staff team and a range of volunteers and other community stakeholders. In particular, you will share our commitment to embed user engagement and community development at the heart of the Healthwatch service model, empowering user voices and improving access to health services. 

You’ll have an opportunity to develop the service in line with our ambitious vision. This will include leading on the planning and delivery of targeted projects, supporting a diverse and varied engagement programme, and building relationships with a range of strategic partners. The Healthwatch Manager (Kensington & Chelsea) also takes the lead on managing our local Advisory Board.  You will work closely with the Healthwatch teams in Westminster and Brent. 

Key responsibilities

 Ensure Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea’s work conforms to all required principles, objectives and statutory obligations, and meets all contractual requirements between The Advocacy Project and Brent Council. 

 Manage and motivate a small staff team to deliver an effective and vibrant local Healthwatch.

 Provide leadership to make sure the patient and public voice is heard across health, social care, children’s and other sectors in a continuously changing external environment. 

 Support the effective working of the Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea Advisory Board. 

 Ensure local communities are able to participate fully in our work, particularly those that are least likely to have had their voices listened to. Support these communities in influencing local and national policy. 

 Represent Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea at strategic governance and external meetings with key stakeholders, liaising with nominated Board leads regularly. 

 Develop the service to respond to emerging trends and needs, keeping abreast of Healthwatch England best practice to continually enhance the quality of the service. 

 Monitor the service to make sure it delivers to time, budget and quality; provide reports evidencing this to key stakeholders, including local commissioners, Healthwatch Advisory Board, the Bi-borough Health and Wellbeing Board and Healthwatch England. 

 Develop effective partnerships with key staff in health and social care services. 

 Work with the communications and engagement lead to make sure all relevant internal and external stakeholders receive relevant, timely and up-to-date communication about all Healthwatch projects. 

 Work with the Healthwatch Service Manager and Head of Business Development to identify opportunities for funding additional work which will add value to our Healthwatch services. 

General responsibilities

Person specification

Essential 

 Excellent knowledge of and experience of working with the health and social care system and the voluntary and community sector.

 Thorough understanding of user engagement, community development, user involvement and co-production principles and practice. 

 Experience of working with diverse communities and tackling discrimination and inequality. 

 Understanding of the public health challenges in Kensington & Chelsea. 

 Experience of managing team members. 

 Experience of contract management and compliance. 

 Excellent communications (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Effective in working with a wide variety of stakeholders ranging from trustees, commissioners, partners, colleagues and local residents.   

 Able to interpret complex information and deal effectively with competing interests and challenging situations. 

 Excellent organisational skills who can work on their own initiative and plan and prioritise your own workload. 

 Experience of working with a budget. 

 Commitment to working within The Advocacy Project and Healthwatch code of conduct, equality and safeguarding policies.

The Development Manager (Individual Giving) will manage the strategic development of Individual Giving, identifying opportunities to drive growth in this area. The Development Manager (Trust and Foundations) will manage the strategic development of Trusts and Foundations fundraising, identifying opportunities to drive growth in this area. The post-holder will oversee income generation from grant-making organisations and ensure timely reporting to funders.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following essential requirements:

• Drive growth of Trusts and Foundations income especially at the five- and six-figure level, with a particular view to supporting unrestricted income and major projects in the organisation’s pipeline.

Community Advice Works is an established community charity based in New Cross in South
East London. As the only charity in the London Borough of Lewisham offering a general
drop-in advice service, we are a critical source of support to vulnerable residents. We have

The Senior Philanthropy Manager will line manage the Philanthropy Officer, supporting their development and fostering an overall culture of collaboration and high performance. The role will also personally cultivate and steward relationships with new and existing major donors, and work collaboratively on a programme of stewardship and cultivation events.

• Manage, develop and lead the Philanthropy Officer

• Substantial experience of, and a strong track record in, major gift fundraising

About the role

Becoming the Programme Marketing Manager at the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women is a fantastic opportunity to help drive progress for women entrepreneurs in low and middle income countries by engaging more people in our work.

The key purpose of this role is to effectively market our programmes to participants – chiefly our HerVenture business skills microlearning app and our sector-leading Mentoring Women in Business programme.

This will span three main projects:

· to successfully manage a marketing agency to effectively market the HerVenture app to women in South Africa (as part of a fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Mar ‘25);

· to successfully manage the same marketing agency to promote the app in Nigeria (as part of a separate fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Dec ‘24); and

· to effectively promote the opportunity to become a mentor to a woman entrepreneur through our Mentoring Women in Business programme to paying professionals worldwide. Your objective will be to secure 18+ paid mentors for the Nov ’24 programme intake and 20+ for the May ’25 intake.

Following the completion of the two HerVenture marketing projects, you will also lead other programme marketing initiatives in 2025. These will be determined in late 2024.

Following the May ’25 Mentoring intake you will deliver a strategy, harnessing your learning and analysis to outline an approach for marketing the programme to paying mentors in future.

You will also be called on to support other forms of programme marketing on an ad hoc basis, for example advising on development of corporate pitch decks, or co-designing materials for fundraising events.

This position reports directly to the Head of Communications and Marketing, however this is a highly collaborative role and you will also work closely with the Entrepreneurship programmes team and the Programme Funding team to develop and deliver plans and manage projects.

Our ideal candidate will be a knowledgeable and motivated marketer with experience in ‘selling’ professional development / online volunteering opportunities, and in managing agencies and contractors to deliver on fixed projects as aligned to good marketing practices. You should be highly organised and goals-driven, with a collaborative approach, a growth-oriented mindset, and a strong desire to harness the power of marketing to support women’s economic empowerment.

World Child Cancer is seeking an experienced corporate and philanthropy fundraiser to join our growing team and play a vital role in improving the chances of survival and quality of life of children with cancer in under-resourced countries.

About World Child Cancer

Over 400,000 children worldwide develop cancer each year. Childhood cancer is most often curable, with over 80% survival rate in high income countries. However, in many low-and-middle-income countries survival rates are often 25% or lower.

World Child Cancer’s goal is to help redress that inequity and improve the chances of children with cancer to survive and thrive in under-resourced countries. We currently work with local hospitals in 12 countries in Africa, Asia and Mexico to enable children with cancer to have equal access to the best possible treatment and care through awareness raising on signs of childhood cancer, providing financial, logistical and emotional support to address barriers to access treatment, training of healthcare workers and advocacy.

Overview of the role

This newly created Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager role will play a key part in raising income from companies and philanthropists to help achieve World Child Cancer’s mission.

You will be passionate about enabling children with cancer to have equitable access to quality treatment wherever they are born. We are looking for someone experienced in corporate and philanthropy fundraising, who is proactive, confident in engaging with high value funders, able to develop strong internal and external relationships, has strong verbal and written communication skills, a collaborative way of working and experience in developing new business.

You will join a small but ambitious and high performing team that contributes significantly to World Child Cancer’s annual income of c. £2m.

Reporting to: Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships

Location: UK-based hybrid role: Home working for the time being, with the provision for regular meetings in the office. Office attendance encouraged on Mondays (nr Fenchurch Street, London)

Employment type: 28-35 hours per week, with flexible working considered, permanent

Key responsibilities

Person Specification

Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent

A proven track record in corporate and major gift fundraising with evidence of successful solicitation of six figure gifts and multi-year gifts

Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability and confidence to interact with new and existing high value funders

Experience of successfully developing cultivation plans to engage new funders

Ability to research and identify potential new funders

Ability to translate complex, specialist information into accessible and compelling pitches, proposals and reports

Ability to help develop and monitor project budgets

About the Team:
The WaterAid Supporter Activation team sits within the Mass Engagement Department. The team is responsible for building understanding and consideration for WaterAid amongst potential supporters, as well as driving the recruitment of new regular and cash supporters.

The team works closely with other teams within Mass Engagement, in particular the Supporter Engagement and Legacy teams as well as teams across the organisation such as the Strategic Partnerships and Performance & Insight to identify new opportunities and work collaboratively to achieve our mutual objectives.

About the Role:
As an experienced and innovative Marketing Manager, you will have the chance to challenge and develop key channels to drive continued success in attracting new supporters to WaterAid.

The role is to project lead the day-to-day development, management and delivery of a number of fundraising campaigns across channels such as DRTV, inserts and door drops. Overseeing the creative and delivery of campaigns from initial brief through to post campaign analysis, contributing to and ensuring the Supporter Activation team meets agreed objectives and income targets.

Key to this role will be to lead on the management and development of the DRTV programme (from creative to planning) which plays a significant part in the activation programme.

You'll also:

• Lead on the management, delivery and development of all aspects of the DRTV programme. Taking particular responsibility for creative development and innovation, media planning and campaign analysis.
• Support the Senior Marketing Manager (Supporter Activation) in the strategy and innovation of the DRTV programme to drive growth in this pivotal channel.
• Support the Senior Marketing Manager and working closely with the Marketing Officers to manage, deliver and develop the other channels in the extensive activation portfolio such as inserts, door drop and integrated media and creative campaigns, taking particular responsibility for media planning, buying and analysis.
• Support the Senior Marketing Manager in the management, delivery and development of campaigns within the Brand Consideration programme. Including collaboration with a wide number of internal teams and external colleagues to create integrated creative campaigns utilising multiple channels.
• Lead media and creative agency relationships at a strategic level; including taking a lead on pitching and appointing new agencies, including contract management. Act as first point of contact for external partners where required, taking responsibility for resolving queries, trafficking all stages of projects, escalation of potential problems and performance reviews.
• Lead on creative development; contribute to the overall strategy for the Individual Giving & Engagement Team, make decisions on creative strategy, approach, copy and design, working closely with Communications Team to accurately reflect the brand.
• Develop, plan and manage complex income and expenditure budgets for a portfolio of activities, some with six figure budgets and targets; including using complex reforecasting models to provide projections for income and expenditure.
• Ensure that all communications are carried out within FRSB, DPA and Charity Commission guidelines.

About You:

• Substantial proven experience of working in a similar fundraising and/or customer marketing role managing an expenditure budget to deliver campaigns using a wide range of media.
• Proven experience of managing DRTV campaigns, working closely with media, creative and production agencies.
• A track record of developing and implementing successful direct marketing strategies working in a complex direct marketing role / team. Including experience of strategic planning and executing multi-faceted activation campaigns for both below and above the line channels.
• Proven experience of managing large volume media campaigns including media planning, buying and analysis.
• Significant project management experience including identifying new fundraising opportunities and developing a framework for implementation.
• Experience of developing and managing complex budgets, using relevant monitoring and evaluating tools.
• Ability to develop, monitor and adapt DM strategies for the implementation of fundraising channels; including advising on the direction of the overarching direct marketing programme.
• Experience of successfully developing high level relationships with senior staff and stakeholders both internally and externally.
• Experience of leading a team and line management of one or more team members.
• Excellent written and numeracy skills with attention to detail and the ability to use spreadsheets to formulate and analyse complex budgets and make informed decisions.
• Excellent negotiation skills, and communication skills including experience of presenting to internal and external stakeholders.
• A good understanding of fundraising principles.

Supporter Engagement is one of the most important teams that is central to the success of Alzheimer’s Society. The function of the team is to manage multi-channel communications with our supporters, both inbound and outbound. The team manage emails, telephone calls and social media interactions and is part of the wider Supporter Experience Department. 

The team has a very bespoke tone of voice when managing the high volume of interactions but has the autonomy to manage their own workday within guidelines. Job Summary

The Haringey Community Alliance Manager is responsible for leading the development of the VCS Capacity Building strategy and the effective co-ordination of the Community Alliance team which includes a Communications and Engagement Officer, a Workplace Development Manager, and a Capacity Building Manager.

We envisage the Haringey Community Alliance Manager performing at either a primarily operational level or, for a more experienced candidate, at both operational and strategic levels. The salary range reflects this, with the upper end of the salary range reserved for candidates who can demonstrate an ability to deliver at both the operational and strategic levels.

Operationally, the postholder will have specific management responsibility for co-developing priorities for local VCS funding and capacity building, as well as the Volunteer Centre and wider VCS community of practice. The post holder has lead responsibility for developing the Annual Work Programme, performance management and reporting against the targets and milestones in the Contract.

Strategically, the role would include a wider contribution to the strategic management and development of Public Voice, supporting the CEO as required. This would include leading the shaping and delivery of a Capacity Building strategy; representing the VCS Alliance at stakeholder meetings and influencing key stakeholders to better support Haringey’s VCS; as well as growing the reach and impact of the Capacity Building service by engaging new funders and partners.
