About the role
To support the shop manager with all aspects of managing the shop, including recruiting and leading the volunteer team in order to maximise the income generated for Concern's work. You will be instrumental in making sure the shop is at the hub of the local community, ensuring a steady flow of donations and acting as the face of Concern Worldwide and raising public awareness of our campaigns.

About you
As Assistant Shop Manager, you will have the opportunity to be part of a small, but dedicated and successful retail team. Concern Charity Retail in Northern Ireland
There are currently eight Concern shops in Northern Ireland. Two of these are bookshops, one in Derry and the second in Holywood Co. Down. One is our newest retail format, our Concern Boutique on the Lisburn Road with an elevated customer experience and product offering. The remaining five are standard charity shops, situated in Ballycastle, Newcastle, Ormeau Road, and the Antrim Road in Belfast.
CONDITIONS OF APPOINTMENT
It is the nature of this post that weekend working (Saturday) and occasional additional seasonal hours are part of the normal working week. Working hours will also involve some evening work to meet the needs of the post. The Assistant Shop Manager would be recruited on the basis that they could provide flexible cover if required across the 2 or 3 of our Belfast shops.
Part time - 21 hours per week, permanent contract. Overtime is required.
Appointment will be subject to a six-month probationary period.
The successful post holder will be required to complete a Basic AccessNI check and sign a criminal records self-declaration form.

About Shooting Star Children’s Hospices
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Family Support Team at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices provides specialist care and support to families who have a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or whose child has died. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, our teams support families across Surrey, north-west London and south-west London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care. Family support is provided to families in 15 different languages.
About the role
Family Support Workers (FSW) are the frontline of our care. Each FSW holds a caseload of end-of-life and bereaved families. They get to know their families, and check-in regularly with phone calls and home visits and can provide enhanced emotional support where required through more regular contact and interventions. Our FSWs tell families about the many services they can access at Shooting Star, assess their needs and make recommendations to our multi-disciplinary team. They support families of different ethnicities and families living in poverty, helping our service be as accessible as possible. This includes providing support in a family’s first language. Several families cared for by Shooting Star speak Gujarati.
Our FSWs work closely with our Therapists, Counsellors, Social Workers, Transition Team and our Care Events Team. Weekly MDT meetings bring the team together to think of ways to help families in crisis. The work is varied and creative, taking place at the hospices, in family homes and hospitals, allowing the support to be where the families need it. Our Family Support Workers are hugely appreciated by the families we support.
The ambition of our strategy is to ensure every family affected by a life-limiting condition, or the sudden death of a child, has access to the specialist care that they need. Day to day duties are:
- Being the on-site duty FSW, welcoming families on site, monitoring email inboxes and answering the Family Support Line.
- Helping with support groups and family events
- Providing on the spot emotional support, sometimes in a crisis where a calm and supportive response is required.
- Visiting newly bereaved families in their homes – specifically Gujrati speaking families.
- Supporting families staying at our Christopher’s hospice (booked stays and end of life).
- Attending various locations over the course of a week: hospice, hospital, family homes.
- Building connections with families from different backgrounds, delivering culturally sensitive care.
- Helping safeguard families at risk of harm.
- Acting as an ambassador for Shooting Star’s Specialist Bereavement Service, supporting other care team members with their learning and delivery of the bereavement pathway, and continually seeking ways to improve what we offer families.
The post holder will need to have a UK driving license.
The hours are predominantly worked 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Once a month, the FSW will work a weekend day (with advance notice). This is in place of a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday that week.
About you
This role requires experience of working with children and families who have experienced hardship, or those with complex needs. You should have a calm, positive manner, conveying empathy whilst maintaining professional boundaries. We are looking for someone who is fluent in Gujarati, who is passionate about supporting children and families.

About the role
You’ll lead on the production, project management and execution of our biannual Parkinson’s UK Excellence Network Awards, which celebrate outstanding health and care services to people with Parkinson’s.
You’ll lead a collaborative event that involves multiple internal teams across Parkinson’s UK as well as a range of external stakeholders, including health and care professionals, people with Parkinson’s and their families or friends.

What you’ll do:

Plan and project manage the Excellence Network Awards, creating and leading the delivery group.

Design and implement a fair and transparent process for nominating, shortlisting and selecting awardees ensuring it celebrates excellence in Parkinson’s care

As Finance Manager for The Angelou Centre you will have a key leadership position. You will be responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of our finances, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements while ensuring our services are sustainable through sound financial planning. You will work closely with the Executive Director and Trustee Board to provide accurate insights and projections that support long-term growth and resilience.
You will play a pivotal role in reviewing and establishing a robust finance and administrative system and procedures, managing risks and ensuring our charity finances can support delivery of our mission. You will also contribute to the development of funding applications, tenders, and financial strategies. You will play a key role in supporting funding applications, demonstrating impact through financial reporting, and building processes that enable future growth.
Our ideal candidate is someone who;
- Is an experienced charity finance professional with strong technical knowledge
- Has at least 5 years of experience in a leadership and management role or similar position
- Is confident working with VAT (including partial exemption) and income from trading
- Is strategic, reliable and keen to contribute to the long-term financial sustainability of a values-led organisation
- Is confident and pro-active in supporting The Angelou Centre’s mission and vision
Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight
- Lead all aspects of day-to-day financial operations
- Prepare accurate monthly and quarterly management accounts to be presented to the Trustees and Executive Director
- Develop and maintain budgets for the whole organisation and departments
- Monitor and report on VAT liability, ensuring accurate submissions and VAT reclaim where appropriate
- Maintain oversight of payroll and pensions in collaboration with external providers
- Manage the weekly payment run, process invoices, and maintain accurate creditor and PO records
- Deliver informal training or guidance to non-finance staff on PO systems, coding, and budget monitoring
- Track income and expenditure from trading activities
- Provide guidance on appropriate financial structures for future potential trading subsidiaries or CICs
Strategic Planning & Compliance
- Lead financial forecasting and modelling for future sustainability
- Work closely with the Executive Director on strategic financial planning
- Ensure compliance with Charity Commission, Companies House, and HMRC
- Maintain and update financial policies and internal controls to manage risk
Grant Fund Management
- Monitor and report on restricted/unrestricted funds
- Produce accurate financial reports for funders and external stakeholders
- Support funding bids and tenders with accurate financial projections
- Track grant expenditure against budgets, flagging overspend/underspend and supporting compliance with funder requirements
Governance & Audit
- Liaise with auditors for year-end accounts and ensure timely audit preparation
- Support Trustees and Finance Sub-Committee with relevant and timely financial reporting
- Assist in presenting financial information to the Board in an accessible and informative manner

Person Specification
Experience & Knowledge
- Significant experience in a senior finance role within the charity sector

Worthing Foyer is a 29-bed medium-low supported accommodation for young people between the ages of 16-25 that is staffed 24/7. We adopt a trauma informed and psychologically informed approach to supporting our residents to help them build essential life skills, identify their goals and work towards aspirations so that they can move on to enjoy fully independent futures. We have a dedicated team of Support Workers, Night Support Workers and additional Bank Workers who provide support, guidance, and signposting around areas such as housing, budgeting, living skills, jobs and relationship building. Situated in the centre of Worthing, the project has strong links with and contributes to the local community.
In delivering the role, you will report to the Supported Housing Manager and be responsible for:
Service Provision: Supporting the Supported Housing Manager with the daily operations of the services so that they meet the requirements of the service specification including compliance with the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) and Ofsted regulations. Oversee the residents’ referral, interview and induction processes for all beds and ensure the Occupancy Agreements and House Rules are fully understood. Ensure the quality of accommodation that is provided, liaising with the Housing and Property Services team to complete estate inspections and health and safety risk assessments, and to turn around voids and organise repairs in line with organisational targets and statutory obligations. With the Supported Housing Manager ensure effective income collection for all beds, working closely with the Rents team to create a rent payment culture.
Leadership and People Management: Directly line manage team members, ensuring their service delivery, working culture and personal development mirror best practice. Ensuring the team is adequately trained and empowered to work effectively and creatively with our young people to enable them to achieve their aspirations and ambitions, whilst ensuring they are supported within safe and consistent boundaries.
General: Be a member of the ‘on call’ rota to provide out of hours management support to projects in the wider locality. Reflect Psychologically Informed Environments (PIEs), Trauma Informed approaches and restorative practices.
