Fine Cell Work are looking for an exceptionally supportive and non-judgemental individual to act as the first point of contact and underpin all aspects of Fine Cell Work's post-prison programme, Open The Gate (OTG). 

Beyond skills for employment, OTG offers a range of support to prison-leavers, who we refer to as Apprentices. The Engagement Support Officer will be responsible for establishing sustainable referral pathways with external partners, recruiting OTG Apprentices in line with organisational strategy, and preparing individual risk assessments and tailored support plans. They will also be responsible for the development of OTG’s remote support scheme and for supporting volunteer employment mentors alongside the Volunteer and Programmes Manager.

Our purpose

Fine Cell Work is a rehabilitation charity and social enterprise that teaches prisoners and prison-leavers to make beautiful handmade products.  The making and selling of high quality needlework boosts their self-worth, instils self-discipline and fosters hope.  Our aim is for our stitchers to finish their sentences with work skills, money earned and saved, and the self-belief to not re-offend.  We also guide them towards training and support on release.  At the Fine Cell Work Hub in Battersea, we run our Open the Gate programme which provides work experience, formal training and employment to prison-leavers. 

The role

As well as offering person-centred support and helping to shape our post-release programmes, you would be responsible for:

• Presenting and promoting Open the Gate among external partners including HMP resettlement teams, probation services, approved premises and other organisations supporting prison-leavers on their resettlement journey.
• Assisting with the development of risk management plans including information gathering, dissemination, and regular review.
• Providing day to day practical, emotional, and sign-posting support to a caseload of adult Apprentices engaging with Open the Gate and providing ad hoc support to past Apprentices when required.
• Action planning and setting out individual objectives with all Apprentices, supporting them to achieve work-ready outcomes in an agreed period.
• Working with the team to research and liaise with offender support and employment agencies beyond FCW, signposting Apprentices and supporting mentors with appropriate signposting and referrals to partner agencies.
• Working with the wider team at FCW to develop and coordinate a series of employability and creative wellbeing workshops for Apprentices.
• Ensuring timely, accurate, and safe recording of all information and personal data.
• Responding to safeguarding concerns in line with FCW policy and procedure.
• Providing remote support via telephone and online to FCW experienced prison-leavers who do not live in London and the Southeast.
• Supporting the Volunteer and Programmes Manager with delivering the Service User Involvement Strategy and championing service user involvement across the organisation more broadly.
• Supporting the Volunteer and Programmes Manager to recruit and deliver training to mentors and other volunteers in roles supporting OTG Apprentices.
• Working with the Volunteer and Programmes Manager to develop and enhance the OTG Mentor Offer including as the first point of contact for Mentors pre- and post- mentoring sessions.

This role is full time and based in our offices in Battersea, South London. Whilst we offer a supportive and flexible working environment, the successful candidate will need to be in the office full time (with occasional working from home)

Salary:  £27,000 - £29,000, dependant on experience

Job Purpose

Money Minded is a new service designed to support adults (18 years and over) in Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hounslow. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate closely with the West London NHS Mental Health Teams, operating within the tri-borough area.

The service provides support with welfare benefits, accessing debt support, housing and well-being. The role of the Mental Health Information and Advice Officer will be to provide advice, guidance and customer representation to tri-borough residents living with Mental Health difficulties. Advice issues may include housing, welfare benefits, council tax, accessing debt support, signposting etc.

The successful candidate will deliver support to enquirers and manage a caseload of individuals, as agreed with the Service Manager. In addition to advice casework, the Mental Health Information and Advice Officer will also be expected to assist onboarding referrals to the service, as and when needed.

The successful candidate will work closely with the West London NHS Mental Health teams and project volunteers, ensuring adherence to the Advice Quality Standard framework (AQS) and Mind's policies and procedures.

Due to the nature of the work, if successful, you will need to have an up-to-date DBS check completed, prior to undertaking unsupervised client work.

Place of Work

The Mental Health Information and Advice Officer will be required to work within the West London NHS Mental Health team offices.

We have an exciting opportunity here at Barnardo's for experienced, enthusiastic and assertive Family Support Workers to join a brand-new team who will deliver the In Reach Hospital Emergency Department Family Support Programme.

The role is full time , 37 hours per week, permanent fixed term funded until March 2025 and will be based at the North Middlesex University Hospital, The entrance to the A&E department is in Bridport Road, Edmonton, London, N18 1QX.

Successful candidates will work in partnership with the clinical team to facilitate discharge of children aged 0-12 years from the Emergency Department where the clinical presentation is not acute and can be managed at home by local services.  

“This role requires workers to have experience of holistic ways of working with families and young people. Including assessment, support, signposting and making referrals to appropriate services where needed. The successful applicant will be able to work as part of a team as well as on their own initiative and manage the pressures of working in both a busy emergency department and the community”

The In Reach Hospital Emergency Department Family Support Programme model offers a robust way of supporting often vulnerable families to uncover and address unmet need. Through identifying the underlying factors causing the clinical presentation and attendance, and addressing holistic needs of the family unit, we hope activity to unscheduled, primary and emergency care is dramatically and sustainably reduced.

The model is based on Family Support Workers based within Children's Emergency Departments, offering holistic, family-oriented support in a flexible manner either in-person, telephone- based and home visits to be able to address the underlying causes of repeated / avoidable ED attendances.

*Although this contract has a permanent status, please be aware that this post is subject to funding currently to March 2025 and therefore should this funding not be extended further, you may be subject to a redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement.

** Please note the hours for this role will be required over a 5-day week and may be done in longer day shifts or with set times i.e. 8am to 4pm (to suit Emergency Department and community/family needs). The role can adopt flexible working arrangements to meet service and personal need but will NOT provide 24 hour provision in the ED settings. This can be discussed further at interview.

We are looking to recruit two additional project officers mainly to help deliver our Live Love Later Life and Healthsmart services whilst providing organisational and administrative support to help these run smoothly.

An exercise qualification and experience of delivering health checks are highly desirable. However, if you do not hold these qualifications you will need to undergo a chair-based exercise qualification and blood pressure training. Applicants need to be willing to undergo this training. They also need to have the confidence and enthusiasm to deliver exercise to groups of older people whilst motivating participants that may have a variety of physical and cognitive challenges. These attributes will be assessed through a task during the interview process.

Duties and key responsibilities: 

Content development:

• Work with the Information and Content Manager to research, write, edit and produce new information materials including print publications, web pages, videos, etc.
• Work in line with Sarcoma UK’s information production process, including:
  • Liaise with clinical experts and patient reviewers throughout the content development process
  • Maintain formal systems within the information production process in line with the PIF tick quality mark
• Ensure all new content meets clinical standards, brand guidelines, plain English principles, and accessibility requirements.

Content updates & maintenance: 

• Continuously review and update existing print and digital information resources to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain a structured review schedule to keep materials current as per the PIF quality mark.
• Manage a comprehensive database to track all information resources and versions.

Content promotion & distribution:

• Work with colleagues to create promotional content for Sarcoma UK's information resources across multiple channels.
• Utilise social media platforms to extend reach and engagement with target audiences.
• Collaborate with internal communications and digital teams on content publishing and marketing.

Administration & reporting:

• Collect metrics and provide regular reports on content performance, user engagement and feedback.
• Assist in developing evaluation methods to assess impact of information resources.

General:

• To support new work within the information team.
• Work closely with healthcare professionals, people affected by sarcoma, and staff members.
• To attend Sarcoma UK events and take part in Sarcoma UK’s wider work.
• To travel occasionally to meetings and events. Occasional weekend or evening work may also be required and time off in lieu will be given.
