Centre Fundraiser (West London)

About the role
This is the perfect role for a fundraiser who is committed to the cause, energetic and confident in leading.
You will utilise effective and efficient fundraising skills to assist in supporting the Centre Fundraising Manager to deliver both financial and non-financial targets, whilst planning and implementing the overall centre fundraising strategy.
You will be proactive in donor recruitment and excellent donor care, supporting and retaining your existing pipeline and researching new potential partners to build key relationships with. You will also work to build an impressive pipeline with individuals, local businesses, groups and associations.
You will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders (colleagues, volunteers, etc) across the organisation and external stakeholders (such as local media, PR) to ensure that centrally managed fundraising activities are supported locally.
About you
This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic fundraiser who has exceptional relationship building skills and the confidence to seek out new opportunities.
You must have experience of raising funds in a community setting or have transferable skills (e.g. sales, marketing, new business, account management etc).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are key. You must be confident at talking to members of the community and be confident at public speaking.

The Role

FACE TO FACE FUNDRAISER (NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED)
Location: Will be working in shopping centres, train stations and other locations throughout London and surrounding areas (ideally, candidates should be based within London or the surrounding area)
Salary: £24,000 - £26,000 per annum + benefits (including paid travel when working out of London)
Hours: 35 per week
Contract: Permanent

What will I be doing?
Make an impact every day by…
Engaging with the public at stands in shopping centres and inspiring them to make regular donations via Direct Debit
Working as part of a team of fundraising experts
Sharing engaging and inspiring stories regarding CRUK's progress and goals
Being responsible for setting up your stand and working environment in private site venues
Representing CRUK with the highest level of professionalism, treating the public fairly and with respect.

Excellent communication skills and customer experience with confidence in speaking to the public
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly and influence others
An ability to work under pressure
Experience of delivering and achieving targets in a customer-related environment or similar
Strong resilience to handle negative objections.

What’s the role about?
Our Membership Fundraisers are the ambassadors for the RSPB; travelling to a local venue each day in their company van, where they set up an attractive fundraising stand and spend the day actively engaging with members of the public.
Every day our Membership Fundraisers are playing a vital role in our efforts to help give nature the home it deserves. They do this by having engaging conversations with people about our conservation work, educating the public about how they can help wildlife from home, and inspiring people of all ages to become lifelong members of the RSPB so that we can make a real difference to our natural world!

What we need from you:
You don’t need to know much about birds, nor do you need to know much about conservation, as we run a thorough induction program and offer fantastic training and ongoing support. Essential skills, knowledge and experience that we are looking for include:
- Enthusiasm and passion for saving nature;
- Enjoy working outdoors - solo as well as part of a team;
- A good story-teller and a confident communicator;
- A resilience to rejection;
- Experience in a customer-facing role;
- Comfortable asking people for monthly donations;
- A full driving licence (manual or automatic); and
- Happy to work 3 out of 4 weekends, and bank holidays.
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:
- Fundraising/sales experience
