The Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI) is an independent charity established in 1967. JCWI has been through a period of transition over recent years, with pressures on the organisation, its staff, capacity, and resources increased by successive political attacks on migrant communities, the eroding of migrants’ rights through legal and policy change, the rise of the far-right in the UK and the widening gap between the rich and powerful and Britain’s multi-racial working class.

It is in this context that JCWI is seeking an empathetic and collaborative leader given we are in a time of immense political upheaval both in the UK and across borders. We need someone who can unite us towards a refreshed collective resistance to increasingly unfettered state and corporate power.

The successful candidate is likely to have a sound grasp of the key issues JCWI works on and the political climate in which the organisation operates, to provide confident leadership and strategic guidance to all teams, and to maintain and build relationships with key stakeholders.  This includes setting and reviewing the organisation's objectives within the framework of the five-year strategy, developing and reviewing the annual business plan and fundraising plan, maintaining JCWl's relationships with trusts, foundations, and other key partners, and acting as one of the lead spokespeople for the organisation in the media and elsewhere.

About the role

We are seeking a Substance Misuse Worker who has a specialism in mental health and substance use to join our team in Catford. You will be based within a 24 hour service which provides enhanced rehabilitation support to adults who have been diagnosed with severe and enduring mental health, who would benefit from an intensive rehabilitation and recovery-focused approach. Within this role, you will provide specialist knowledge and experience to support the wider team and residents to help them to overcome their personal barriers.

You will deliver evidence-based interventions based on holistic assessments to support personalised recovery, integration, and promotion of independent living skills. You will be a specialist in comorbidity, supporting the team to achieve positive outcomes for our residents. Some of your duties will include:

• Undertake joint holistic assessments, risk assessments, care plans, and interventions to support harm reduction and minimisation.
• Set up realistic and flexible strengths-based support plans, working closely with colleagues and support teams to support and advise on interventions and approaches to meet individual needs.
• Help reduce episodes of crisis and assist residents/participants to access services which can offer alternatives to crisis support.
• Work closely with support staff and clinical teams to support and advise them on interventions and approaches to meet resident/participant comorbid, complex mental health and substance misuse needs.
• Support multi-disciplinary teams and the wider community teams with support, advice, signposting, and move on care planning. 

About you

We are looking for someone who has specialist knowledge on how to support individuals with comorbid and complex needs, with experience in interventions, and in a similar role. Qualifications are desirable if paired with practical experience which is relevant to this role. We look at individual characteristics with the ability to engage with various people who may not want to receive the support, able to build trusting professional relationships, and able to demonstrate resilience, solve challenges, and be proactive. To provide a high quality welfare benefits advice service to people affected by cancer with the aim of maximizing their income and advising on a range of related social welfare issues.

This role will primarily be based at the Citizens Advice Camden Welfare Advice Service at the Royal Free Hospital; some work may be undertaken at other sites. The Citizen Advice Camden office is based within the hospital’s Oncology department.

Key elements/Tasks 

The adviser will be expected to work in a busy and often demanding hospital environment. This role will require you to work with a large number of clients, many of whom will present with multiple and complex advice needs because of their condition. This can be an emotionally challenging and sometimes distressing working environment, and the adviser will need to demonstrate emotional resilience and an awareness of how to support herself/himself and to seek support from others in dealing with this. 

The adviser will need to be sensitive to the demands of working daily with healthcare professionals and other non-Citizens Advice Camden stakeholders and to work effectively as an ambassador for Citizens Advice Camden. A large part of the role, in addition to advising clients, involves building and maintaining strong relationships.

We are looking for an experienced community fundraiser to join Scope at an exciting time. This brand-new role will work across teams to develop our income from individuals, local groups, and businesses.

You will lead a team of two, helping them set clear goals and track progress. You will also make sure that our fundraisers and volunteers have a great experience, so they will want to keep supporting us in the future.

The role

As Community Fundraising Lead, you will play a central role in helping Scope achieve its mission to create a fairer society for disabled people. You will lead the strategic development and delivery of Scope's Community Fundraising programme, ensuring it is inclusive, impactful and aligned with our values.

You will:

· Develop and implement Scope's Community Fundraising strategy, identifying opportunities that reflect the diversity of local communities

· Lead and support a high performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning and continuous improvement

· Build and nurture relationships with supporters, volunteers and stakeholders, ensuring everyone feels welcomed, respected and supported

· Monitor and report on fundraising performance, budgets and key milestones, helping to shape future plans and drive income growth

· Collaborate with colleagues across Scope to ensure fundraising activities are inclusive, accessible and aligned with our charitable goals

· Stay informed about sector trends and bring fresh, inclusive ideas to our fundraising approach

· Ensure all fundraising activity is compliant with relevant regulations and Scope's internal policies

You will report to the Head of Supporter Led Fundraising and work closely with teams across Fundraising, Brand and Marketing, Retail, Services and Strategy.

Communications Assistant

Are you new to nature and keen to start out in the conservation sector? Are you a creative communicator with a passion for storytelling and making a difference? Do you have experience working with young audiences, preferably within a wildlife or conservation setting?

We are looking for an enthusiastic Communications Assistant to help support the work, grow reach and engage a wide range of communities, for a small, purpose-driven conservation charity.

Position: Communications Assistant

Location: Remote (this role requires occasional travel and overnight stays)

Hours: Full time (37.5 hours per week)

Salary: £24,946 per annum

About the Role

Whether you're just starting out or bringing early career experience, in this role you will have the opportunity to develop your skills across digital, print and media, working with a highly committed team to help restore beavers across Britain.

The purpose of this role is to amplify the charity’s communications by supporting the communications team’s day to day administrative tasks, channel planning, content creation, website updates and campaign delivery, involving some relationship management and project input.

Reporting to the Senior Communications Officer, you will be supported by formal and informal training to develop your skillset in writing and editing, media relations and database management, newsletters, websites and gain working knowledge of tools such as Canva, Hootsuite and Mailchimp.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide administrative and project support across the Communications and Education team, learning and using key tools and processes
• Support and develop communications channels and platforms, including website updates, accessibility reviews and database content
• Assist with social media planning, content creation and monitoring trends, including design of assets using Canva
• Coordinate and support podcasts, events and campaigns, including stakeholder engagement and occasional travel to represent the organisation
• Contribute to creative content development such as infographics, reports and materials for Beaver Trust and partners
• Ensure compliance with organisational policies, including health and safety, safeguarding, copyright, GDPR and EDI best practice

About You

Essential skills and experience include:
