The King’s Fundraising and Supporter Development Team (F&SD), as it has been traditionally called, brings together fundraising activity across the following areas: major and principal gifts; trusts & foundations; legacies; corporate engagement and annual giving. Our work is underpinned and enhanced by a range of dedicated professionals in areas such as donor relations, project development, events, communications, prospect research, finance, data, supporter services, governance, and general administration.

We are searching for someone with a demonstrable track record in fundraising, with the drive and passion to lead a values-driven team with a commitment to building a supportive culture. The candidate will be proactive, and results oriented with experience of developing purposeful and effective relationships with prospective benefactors and connectors. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor & President, and as a senior leader in the University, you will be expected to build relationships with academics across our nine academic faculties to support colleagues in identifying and developing projects for philanthropic support. Background
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. MAP is the leading UK charity delivering health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation and displacement, in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Gaza, and Lebanon.
MAP is in a period of ambitious growth and rapid development, as we respond to the massive humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon. Due to this growth, we are seeking a Director of Fundraising and Marketing to lead the development and delivery of an ambitious and data driven fundraising strategy.
Purpose of role
The purpose of this role within MAP is to build a high-performing fundraising and marketing team in the UK, and in new international markets, to drive and stabilise significantly increased fundraising performance across a range of income streams. The post holder will lead the development and delivery of an ambitious and data driven fundraising and marketing strategy to successfully deliver MAP’s new five-year vision.
Primary responsibilities

The job holder will have the following key responsibilities:
Leadership
- Champion fundraising across the organisation.
- Be an inspiring ambassador for MAP and ensure this is reflected in the strategies, outputs, and behaviour of the fundraising team.
- Actively contribute to leading Medical Aid for Palestinians as a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT).
- Work closely with the SMT to ensure that appropriate processes and systems are in place across the organisation, including delivery against KPIs.
- Attend and actively participate in MAP’s Board meetings and relevant Board Committee meetings providing updates, necessary reports, and feedback on MAP’s fundraising and marketing.
- Lead cross-organisational projects in line with organisational strategy and direction.
- Build strong working relationships with colleagues across the organisation at all levels, adopting and encouraging a collaborative working approach.
- Keep abreast of, understand, clarify, and implement new or changes in relevant thinking and legislation, especially those directly affecting fundraising.
- Monitor and manage risk in accordance with MAP’s risk management policy.
Fundraising
- Lead the development and delivery of an ambitious and data driven fundraising strategy across a range of income streams to successfully deliver MAP’s new five-year vision.
- Build and inspire a high-performing and results-oriented Fundraising Team focused on delivering sustainable income to maintain and build on recent organisational growth.
- Ensure that MAP’s fundraising is supported by appropriate business/activity plans, and sound financial plans and budgets; and that performance is regularly monitored and evaluated against plans and budgets.
- Set, monitor, and deliver annual income and expenditure targets.
- Foster a culture of ambition and innovation and support the team to research, develop, and implement new fundraising approaches to recruit new donor groups across all income streams.
- Drive change and implement new ways of working across fundraising and the wider organisation in support of fundraising effectiveness.
- Manage relationships with key supporters and stakeholders and attend meetings and networking events to unlock new opportunities.
- Strengthen and build on existing supporter relationships, ensuring that all supporters receive a first-class experience.
- Support the team to develop professional and engaging fundraising materials including fundraising propositions, applications, proposals, appeals, pitches, and reports.
- Take overall responsibility for fundraising compliance and ensure that in all relevant areas, MAP complies with the law, regulation, and stakeholder and contractual obligations with third parties.
- Maintain oversight of the supporter database to ensure integrity, legal compliance, and suitability for MAP's fundraising strategy.
Fundraising Development
- Work with the Head of Individual Giving to deliver and implement a strategy which prioritises both the retention and acquisition of new donors, enhances the use of digital products, platforms, and channels and delivers the highest standard of supporter care and donor stewardship.
- Work with relevant colleagues to deliver a new strategy and plan which prioritises deepening and strengthening existing relationships and building a strong pipeline of new prospects to deliver multi-year funding from major donors, high profile supporters, trusts, foundations, and companies.
- Lead the adoption and use of a newly installed Microsoft Dynamics CRM to effectively support data-driven decision making and relationship management to generate supporter insights in support of increased fundraising.
- With the CEO and SMT, agree and invest in a scaled-up approach to fundraising internationally.
Brand and Marketing
- Working in collaboration with the Director of Advocacy and Communications, lead the development and delivery of an integrated marketing and communications strategy that is driven by audience insight.
- Build and inspire a high-performing and results-oriented Marketing Team to build a community of supporters by delivering a seamless supporter journey that promotes MAP’s work and delivers greater income generation.
- Ensure our brand and identity are strong and supported by authentic high-quality messaging, delivering integrated campaigns across all our channels that turn increased recognition into active support for MAP’s work.
- Increase brand awareness and brand attribution, creating an authentic and compelling voice for MAP which centres on Palestinian voices, including the voices of the people MAP serves.
- Empower teams across MAP to successfully deploy our brand.
- Work in partnership with the Director of Advocacy and Communications to ensure content is up to date, factually accurate and to manage reputational risk.
People Management
- Create a high-performing team that is ambitious and passionate about MAP’s vision.
- Provide line management to direct reports, setting, and monitoring individual performance objectives and motivating the team to be innovative and professional in its thinking and delivery.
- Ensure all fundraising staff receive consistent and motivating direction and feedback to enable them to work to the best of their ability.

- Extensive relevant experience and a proven track record of delivery of income growth across multiple fundraising channels in a fast-paced and rapidly changing context.

The Role:
Hospice UK has an exciting new fundraising strategy with a focus on digital fundraising and supporter journeys. We are looking to significantly increase our engagement with new and existing supporters across all areas of fundraising. The Digital Fundraising and Engagement Executive will be responsible for maximising income, supporter recruitment and retention through digital channels, for both individual giving and events.
Reporting into the Head of Events & Supporter Engagement and working very closely with the External Affairs team you will deliver a cohesive and impactful approach to digital fundraising and supporter journeys. The Digital Fundraising and Engagement Executive will lead on recruitment and stewardship for a number of third-party challenge events as well as supporting on the optimisation of integrated digital campaigns and donor journeys.

The Team:
The Events and Supporter Engagement team forms part of the wider Income Generation and Grants Directorate. The team’s focus is on raising funds from individuals through challenge and special events, digital fundraising, giving in memory, legacy giving, regular and payroll giving and one off donations.
The team is made up of 5 people (including this role), who work closely together to help achieve our goals. The wider Income Generation and Grants team consists of 20 people in total. We meet regularly through team meetings and coming together in the office on a Tuesday, which helps to create a supportive working environment.

The Role
As our Supporter Engagement Assistant, you will join our Fundraising Team to help us build strong and lasting relationships with our charity's supporters and donors.
Reporting to the Supporter Engagement Officer, you will deliver excellent customer service over the telephone, in written (email and postal) communications and face to face and ensure that supporters' details are accurately recorded on the CRM database. You will be representing the charity, explaining its purpose, and demonstrating our charity values to donors/supporters, showing appropriate empathy to those who may have cancer or a family member/friend who does.
This role provides a great opportunity to make a real difference to the people of Yorkshire and requires someone with a friendly manner, good team-working skills, great customer service and excellent organisational skills.
Specifically, you will:

Ensure supporter communications are accurate, timely and appropriate to the recipient. This includes following the relevant pathways to process donations, record legacy pledges, update key information so that the communication is tailored and relevant to the individual supporter.

Update supporter records on our database to reflect changes in marketing permissions, personal details, the charity's relationship with the supporter (e.g. Volunteer/ Donor/ Brand Ambassador etc.) and any communications had between the supporter & the charity.

Use the CRM System to run supplied data queries to deliver campaigns (e.g. using Mail Merge) and to create and deliver supporter communications, this includes printing and posting letters and sending emails, making updates to supporter records and fulfilling requests for information.

Work alongside the Supporter Engagement Officer & Individual Giving Manager to improve the initial welcome for newly acquired regular donors and the onwards stewardship journey for all supporters. Conducting research and contributing ideas to improve the supporter journeys and implementing these processes independently.

Undertake other duties and take on a lead role in supporting projects relevant to the purpose of the role as requested by members of the CRM, Marketing, Fundraising or Research & Services teams.

Monitor inbound emails to the charity in the supporter care inbox, forwarding to the relevant colleague (if unable to provide a response) or responding and actioning.

Overseeing the creative and delivery of campaigns from initial brief through to post campaign analysis, contributing to and ensuring the Supporter Activation team meets agreed objectives and income targets.
Key to this role will be to lead on the management and development of the DRTV programme (from creative to planning) which plays a significant part in the activation programme.
You'll also:
- Lead on the management, delivery and development of all aspects of the DRTV programme. Taking particular responsibility for creative development and innovation, media planning and campaign analysis.
- Support the Senior Marketing Manager (Supporter Activation) in the strategy and innovation of the DRTV programme to drive growth in this pivotal channel.
- Support the Senior Marketing Manager and working closely with the Marketing Officers to manage, deliver and develop the other channels in the extensive activation portfolio such as inserts, door drop and integrated media and creative campaigns, taking particular responsibility for media planning, buying and analysis.
- Support the Senior Marketing Manager in the management, delivery and development of campaigns within the Brand Consideration programme. Including collaboration with a wide number of internal teams and external colleagues to create integrated creative campaigns utilising multiple channels.
- Lead media and creative agency relationships at a strategic level; including taking a lead on pitching and appointing new agencies, including contract management. Act as first point of contact for external partners where required, taking responsibility for resolving queries, trafficking all stages of projects, escalation of potential problems and performance reviews.
- Lead on creative development; contribute to the overall strategy for the Individual Giving & Engagement Team, make decisions on creative strategy, approach, copy and design, working closely with Communications Team to accurately reflect the brand.
- Develop, plan and manage complex income and expenditure budgets for a portfolio of activities, some with six figure budgets and targets; including using complex reforecasting models to provide projections for income and expenditure.
- Ensure that all communications are carried out within FRSB, DPA and Charity Commission guidelines.
About You:
- Substantial proven experience of working in a similar fundraising and/or customer marketing role managing an expenditure budget to deliver campaigns using a wide range of media.
- Proven experience of managing DRTV campaigns, working closely with media, creative and production agencies.
- A track record of developing and implementing successful direct marketing strategies working in a complex direct marketing role / team. Including experience of strategic planning and executing multi-faceted activation campaigns for both below and above the line channels.
- Proven experience of managing large volume media campaigns including media planning, buying and analysis.
- Significant project management experience including identifying new fundraising opportunities and developing a framework for implementation.
- Experience of developing and managing complex budgets, using relevant monitoring and evaluating tools.
- Ability to develop, monitor and adapt DM strategies for the implementation of fundraising channels; including advising on the direction of the overarching direct marketing programme.
- Experience of successfully developing high level relationships with senior staff and stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Experience of leading a team and line management of one or more team members.
- Excellent written and numeracy skills with attention to detail and the ability to use spreadsheets to formulate and analyse complex budgets and make informed decisions.
- Excellent negotiation skills, and communication skills including experience of presenting to internal and external stakeholders.
- A good understanding of fundraising principles.
