Crossness Pumping Station is a unique, world heritage site built in 1865 to help rid London of cholera. Lying abandoned since the 1950s, it has been lovingly restored by a group of enthusiasts and volunteers since 1987. We are moving into the next phase of our development as a museum and need to improve our support to existing volunteers and recruitment of new ones. This role will be fundamental to achieving our strategic goals and future business plan.

About the role

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing the recruitment, induction, training and support of volunteers for Crossness Engines Trust.

This role will ensure that volunteers are effectively integrated into the organisation and feel valued, motivated and equipped to contribute to its mission. We're looking for an efficient, friendly Volunteer Co-ordinator to join our award-winning charity.  The team is based at our busy community centre from where it offers a range of services from community meals, art classes to gardening services and digital support.  We support older and disabled people living in Fulham, London.  Much of our work is delivered by volunteers, so this post is critical to our service delivery. Acorns Children's Hospice is a charity providing specialist palliative care and support for children and their families. Each year, we support over 750 children and nearly 1,000 families, including those who are bereaved. Our Team Leaders coordinate and run impactful and enjoyable volunteering events at which donated children's books are checked, organised and boxed for distribution by groups of corporate volunteers.  They are responsible for managing all aspects of the day and also for helping ensure that the volunteers that attend understand the value of their contribution.

Our Team Leaders work as part of a team and are supported by Volunteer Coordinators at each session. Your role as a Team Leader will be to set overall objectives for the day, to brief your team at the outset and to ensure health and safety protocol is adopted.

We run two volunteering days a week at our Birmingham HQ and are looking for a Team Leader that can help run one or both of these days - opening up the unit, managing the session and helping us reach our gifting objectives.

Volunteers are the backbone of our operation at FareShare South West (FSSW). We have over 350 volunteers from a myriad of backgrounds, who make up 90% of our team. The volunteers help with every aspect of the operation, from driving vans, picking orders, to administrative duties. FSSW has built a successful volunteer programme which supports a wide demographic of people and multiple motivations for volunteering. This role will take a lead on all aspects of recruitment, retention, and development of our volunteer programme during this exciting time in the charity as we expand. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

Volunteer Recruitment  

• Work with the Communications and Volunteering teams to actively promote the volunteer programme across Bristol

• Work with the wider FSSW team to support and develop volunteering opportunities for corporate supporters and food partners; taking a lead in the delivery of corporate volunteering events 

• Use and improve on existing processes to manage recruitment from initial enquiry through to successful onboarding of prospective volunteers and partners  

• Develop outreach activities to increase diversity, social impact, and community engagement

How will I be working?

Our project, Kempton: Clean Water for Life - reaching a wider audience, is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we aim to transform Kempton Steam Museum’s engagement with visitors and the local community, while enhancing support for volunteers and care of collections. Three new part-time staff roles are being created to focus on volunteering, collections and managing the project.

The part-time Museum Operations and Project Manager will manage day-to-day operations and oversee delivery of the project initiatives. We will also be recruiting a Curatorial Officer (one day per week) and a Volunteer Coordinator (two days per week).

Bromley Recovery and Wellbeing College (BRWC) runs a curriculum of free peer and professional-led workshops and courses across the borough of Bromley. Our aim is to enable students to achieve greater insight into their own mental wellbeing and gain skills to help them achieve personal goals, independence and self-management of their own mental health.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Bromley Recovery and Wellbeing College coordinator to join SEL Mind on a one year fixed-term basis. You will work closely with the Bromley Recovery and Wellbeing Manager to develop a high quality college offer to the residents of Bromley. The role comes with the responsibility to provide day to day support and guidance to a team of tutors and volunteer co-facilitators to ensure efficient delivery of the college.

You will have experience of working in a busy fast-paced environment. Working autonomously but also as part of a team is key, as are problem solving and excellent organisational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people is also required. You will work closely with other SEL Mind colleagues as well as our Bromley Mental Health Hub partners Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

Hybrid working is considered in line with our policies and needs of the service. Occasional out-of-hours work is required to support with the delivery of courses running outside of core office hours.

Successful applicants will be expected to undergo an Enhanced Level Disclosure and Barring Service check.

FTWW is looking for a full-time Volunteer and Community Coordinator! The successful candidate will strengthen community activity by engaging with external stakeholders and members of the public, increasing our reach and volunteer numbers. They will ensure that volunteers are supported and equipped to participate in a wide range of activities, both in-person and online.

The role is full-time home-based within Wales, with occasional travel to events and meetings, so a driving licence and access to a car would be an advantage.

We are a small but mighty charity where no two days are the same. You may be involved in facilitating an online coproduction event one day and speaking at the Senedd the next so excellent communication skills are a must. We currently have over 90 registered volunteers and a key part of the role will be to develop our volunteer programme.  As a small team, you will also support our part-time Engagement Coordinator, so there will be plenty of opportunity to demonstrate your creative skills too.

The ability to speak Welsh, or a willingness to learn, is desirable. We may also consider part time hours, or a job share for the right candidates. Please note in your application if this applies to you.
