Cornwall Wildlife Trust is working to create a Cornwall where nature thrives on land and at sea. For over 60 years, we’ve been inspiring people to connect with and protect the natural world — and Looe Island is one of our most unique and cherished nature reserves.

The Role:

Looe Island is a flagship Destination Nature Reserve, carefully managed by residential wardens who permanently live on the island throughout the season. During the summer months, visitors can explore the island on organised boat trips or stay overnight in our eco-friendly Smuggler’s Cottage or island bell tent.

In 2026, we’re expanding our offer to include new, exclusive tours and immersive experiences — making this an especially exciting time to be involved.

We are seeking volunteer wardens for a joint application from:

Our Friends Ageing Better (FAB) project is looking for volunteer hosts for our FAB cafés around Bristol. In this volunteer role, you’ll be part of creating vibrant, welcoming community spaces that build relationships and connect people with activities in their local community.

At Age UK Bristol, we want to change the way we age. We aim to keep people aged 55+ well and active, encouraging Bristol to be an Age Friendly city. We do this in 3 ways - through providing practical help and supporting people’s emotional and physical wellbeing in a range of ways depending on their needs.  In addition, we want to prevent people from needing our help wherever possible.  We do this in our strategic work, where we aim to create the conditions for older adults to remain healthy and independent.

The role involves

• Welcoming older people who are new to the FAB café
• Facilitating conversation and activities in the group
• Promoting your local FAB café and the FAB membership card scheme
• Keeping sign-up sheets for attendees at cafes
• Providing information about events and activities happening in the local area with the support of the FAB team

Donation Research Assistant (Volunteer)

International Aid for the Protection & Welfare of Animals (IAPWA) was founded in 2009 and aims to provide protection and improve the welfare of animals in need. Our first project is based in Borneo, where we provide a lifeline to thousands of dogs and cats every year in need of veterinary care and support. Our companion animal programmes have since developed in other countries, including Romania and Penang Island, as well as support programmes to help other species.

We are currently looking for Donation Research Volunteers to help support our Online Retail Team. This role will enable us to continue raising vital funds for our animals in need by helping to identify potential sources for donations of goods for our monthly online auctions and other fundraising platforms. 

Tasks will include:

• Researching suitable businesses to reach out to for potential donations.

• Develop relationships with donors, providing regular communication and support when needed. 

• Record and track donations received for our monthly online auctions.

• Collaborate with the team to identify best fundraising options. 

Ideally you will;

• Have experience or an interest in a research role, particularly within the charity sector.

• Be familiar with Google Workspace or willingness to learn.

Help shape a new, parent-powered movement for positive change in primary schools

MFS supports parents/carers and schools to take early, constructive action to prevent harmful gender norms and misogyny, by building parent networks, supporting school engagement, creating practical resources, and amplifying real stories of change. 

We’re looking for 4 volunteers to help shape and grow the movement from the ground up. See the roles below.

1: Community & Communications Lead

Purpose of role: You will create and guide a Whatsapp community for parents, raise the profile and manage MFS’s voice online through storytelling and social media
Skills/experience helpful: Communications, campaigns, community organising, digital engagement, social media including analytics and metrics, compelling writing, storytelling, content creation, canva (or other tools)
What you’ll do: Build and moderate the parent WhatsApp community, develop and deliver communications strategy, shape narrative, tone, voice and messaging, help grow an engaged parent network

2: Web & Digital Builder (short term)

Purpose of role: You will co-design and build the MFS website including the parent and school resource hub
Skills/experience helpful: Web design, no-code platforms (e.g. Squarespace/Wix), UX, digital project setup, website performance tracking, knowledge of GDPR and data protection regulations
What you’ll do: Create an impactful and easily navigable website for parents and schools, organise information and link resources, support the digital infrastructure of the campaign, train up team members to add and adapt content

3: Education Specialist

Purpose of role: You will create tools and support the MFS community on engagement with schools and LEAs
Skills/experience helpful: Education, safeguarding, creating tools, curriculum, school engagement, education policy, experience with LEAs, trusts, ofsted etc
What you’ll do: Identify and curate age-appropriate resources, shape school-facing content, support parents outreach to primary schools, ensure approaches are constructive, supportive and practical

4: Research & Policy

Purpose of role: You will build our evidence base, translate research and policy into accessible insights and actions, position MFS as a credible, evidence-led voice
Skills/experience helpful: Equality, safeguarding, wellbeing, or education policy, ability to synthesize and translate complex research and policy into accessible language
What you’ll do: Build and maintain MFS evidence base, track key UK research and policy developments and produce accessible briefings, inform campaign and strategy with evidence and policy insight

Time commitment: Flexible and realistic (anything upwards of 2 hours / week)

Location: Fully remote (great if we can occasionally meet in person)

Type: Voluntary / unpaid

The role in a nutshell:

Age UK Cheshire's Sharing Time Reconnect Befriending service strives to reduce loneliness and isolation by matching our volunteers with older people via a meaningful befriending relationship.

Please note: You must be located within Cheshire to apply for this volunteering role.

What will you be doing?

You will be calling a lonely older person for a chat with the aim of developing a long term, meaningful befriending relationship which is positive for both parties. You will not only prevent an older person from feeling lonely and isolated, you will also hear amazing stories and share meaningful moments. 

How would you be supported in this role?

Our volunteers receive an initial induction into the work and policies of our charity and then specific training on befriending and safeguarding. You will be part of a caring and experienced team and have the support of a dedicated service coordinator. 

Why do we need volunteers in this role?

Loneliness among older people is a growing crisis. By volunteering with Age UK Cheshire’s Sharing Time project, you will offer more than a regular telephone call – you will offer a lifeline to older people in your community. 

Befriending phone calls usually last around 30 minutes. They are typically weekly but can be flexible depending on the individual you are supporting and their circumstances. They continue indefinitely or until one party’s circumstances change. 

What skills, interests or experience might be helpful in this role?

• Active listening skills with the ability to motivate others.

About Circular Kitchens

Circular Kitchens is a social enterprise and membership platform designed to help restaurants, cafés, pubs, food stalls, and other catering businesses become fully circular: Plastic Free, Ecological, Local, and Zero Waste.

By working with the hospitality sector, we are helping regenerate local communities, strengthen regional food systems, and increase demand for ecological and regenerative agriculture in the UK. Our current focus is launching Circular Kitchens in Whitstable and supporting our first mover restaurants to achieve 3 Star Circular Kitchens certification. Based on learnings from this pilot, we are preparing to scale across the UK, growing our environmental and social impact.

Role Description

We are seeking a volunteer to support our operations and early-stage platform development, with a focus on how we manage restaurant tools, pledges, and audits using Coda.

Initially, the volunteer will have the opportunity to support updates to our existing Coda database to reflect new language, helping ensure outdated wording is replaced in line with our latest templates and that language is consistent across the platform.

As they become familiar with the structure, the volunteer may also contribute to the design of a Master Coda Document to help centralise data currently spread across multiple sections. This work supports the early foundations of a scalable platform designed to support hundreds of Circular Kitchens members over time. The role may also include light “vibe programming,” using AI tools to assist with formulas and logic within Coda tables.

An Ideal Candidate Will Be:

• A student or recent graduate with an interest in computer science, sustainability, business, data analytics, or a related field

• Technically confident (e.g. comfortable working with digital tools, spreadsheets, or information management platforms like Coda)

• Comfortable working with evolving, early-stage systems

• Well organised with strong attention to detail

• Interested in digital systems, platforms, or operational design

• Curious about startups, social enterprise, and/or sustainability

• Interested in learning and using AI tools to support “vibe programming” and contribute to more complex platform development over time

This is a voluntary role with a flexible time commitment, offering the opportunity to contribute to the operational backbone of a growing social enterprise and work closely with the founding team on systems designed to have real-world impact.
