Volunteer - Executive Director – SUNSHINE Charity
Be the founding force behind a movement bringing human connection, joy and belonging across London
About SUNSHINE Charity
Loneliness is one of the most painful and invisible challenges facing people across London. It steals confidence, hope, and connection — and it affects people of every age, background and story.
SUNSHINE Charity is a tiny start‑up with a huge heart. We exist to bring joy, human connection, belonging and ‘sunshine’ into people’s lives. We believe that even the smallest act of kindness can change someone’s world.
We are at the very beginning of our journey. No funding yet. No big team. Just passion, purpose, and a vision to build a charity that lights up London — and later, beyond.
If you’ve ever wanted to build something meaningful from scratch, this is your moment.
The Role: Executive Director (Volunteer)
This is not a typical leadership role. This is founding a charity. This is building a movement. This is creating hope where it’s needed most.
As our Volunteer Executive Director, you will:
Shape the charity’s vision, culture and identity from day one.
Build our first programmes to reduce loneliness and increase belonging.
Recruit and inspire volunteers who share our mission.
Forge partnerships across London.
Lead early fundraising efforts — including the possibility of fundraising for your own future paid role.
Bring creativity, courage and heart to every decision.
Help turn a small idea into a city‑wide force for good.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in start‑up environments, loves building from the ground up, and wants to lead with compassion and purpose.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is:
Deeply passionate about tackling loneliness.
A natural connector who radiates warmth, positivity and hope.
Excited by the challenge of building a charity with no current funding.
Entrepreneurial, imaginative and resilient.
Comfortable leading, creating and problem‑solving.
Motivated by impact, not titles.
Ready to bring sunshine into people’s lives.
You don’t need previous Executive Director or CEO experience. You just need heart, drive, and the courage to lead something new.
Why This Role Matters
This is your chance to:
Lead a charity from its very first steps.
Create programmes that genuinely transform lives.
Build a legacy of connection, kindness and belonging.
Shape a movement that will grow far beyond London.
Be part of something human, heartfelt and extraordinary.
Ready to Build Something Beautiful?
If your heart is pulling you toward this role — we want to hear from you.
Join us, and help bring sunshine into the lives of people who need it most.

Volunteer Role: Operations Director (Senior Leadership Team)
Location: Remote (London connections highly beneficial)
Commitment: Minimum 4 hours per week
Help Build the Engine Behind MINDSET Charity
Poor mental health can affect anyone — but men and boys are often less likely to talk about how they feel. Many carry their struggles quietly, without the support, tools or safe spaces they need to grow.
MINDSET Charity is being built to change that.
We’re a London‑based start‑up charity in our concept and set‑up stage, creating a movement that empowers men and boys to develop stronger mindsets, healthier habits and positive futures through action‑based wellbeing. No therapy. Just growth, reflection and real‑world tools that help men become the best version of themselves.
To turn this vision into reality, we’re recruiting an Operations Director (Volunteer) to join our Senior Leadership Team — someone who can help us build the operational foundations, systems and processes that will make MINDSET Charity a success.
This is your chance to shape the operational heartbeat of a charity before it launches.
What You’ll Lead
As Operations Director, you’ll play a key role in:
Designing and developing our early operational systems
Creating structure, processes and workflows that support growth
Helping prepare MINDSET for Trustee recruitment and formal governance
Supporting programme development and operational delivery
Coordinating teams, volunteers and early-stage projects
Building partnerships, networks and community connections
Ensuring MINDSET is ready to launch with clarity, efficiency and impact
If you have connections in London, that’s a huge advantage — but passion, organisation and belief in our mission matter most.
Who We’re Looking For
Someone who:
Has experience in operations, project management or organisational development
Thrives in start‑up environments and enjoys building structure from scratch
Can think strategically while managing practical day‑to‑day needs
Communicates clearly, confidently and compassionately
Believes deeply in men’s mental health and positive male role models
Can give at least 4 hours per week (more if possible)
Wants to help create a charity that will genuinely change lives
You don’t need charity sector experience — just initiative, leadership and a desire to make a meaningful impact.
Why Join Us?

This is an ideal opportunity for anybody keen to get first-hand experience of the inspiring and exciting small charitable and community sector in London.
In the first instance, you will be working with our grants manager, appraising grant applications, visiting applicants and preparing reports on applicant suitability for consideration by the board, including a recommendation as to whether to make the grant or not. This is your opportunity to get to grips with the thriving community sectors in Ealing, Hounslow and Hillingdon and it is your judgement which will determine who is to receive funds.
Full training will be given and you will be able to shadow our grants manager in her work until you feel comfortable enough to take on your own cases.
