Role: Volunteer Project Manager
Commitment: ~8–12 hours per month (Flexible / Remote with local Ealing presence)
Status: Startup Phase (Pre-Launch)
The Mission
We have the vision. We have the Founding Board. Now, we need the Architect.
YCAS (Youth Counselling and Advice Service) is currently a concept in development. We are looking for a volunteer Project Manager to lead the charge in taking us from "big idea" to a "live service" that supports young people aged 11–25 in Ealing.
Your Startup Mandate
In this "Day Zero" role, you won't just be managing a project; you’ll be building the project’s engine. You will work directly with our Founder and Founding Trustees to:
- Design the Launch Roadmap: Create and lead the master project plan, including timelines, milestones, and resource needs for a successful launch.
- Coordinate the Founding Team: Act as the "central hub," keeping our Founder, Trustees, and early volunteers aligned and motivated.
- Drive Tactical Execution: Bridge the gap between the Board’s high-level strategy and the day-to-day tasks needed to open our doors.
- Manage Risks: Identify potential "startup bumps" early—like funding gaps or legal hurdles—and develop creative solutions.
- Streamline Systems: Introduce simple, effective tools (like Trello or Slack) to keep our communication lean and efficient.
Who We’re Looking For
- The "Startup Mindset": You thrive in the "blank page" stage and enjoy creating order out of chaos.
- The Organiser: You have professional or volunteer experience in project management (Prince2, Agile, or Lean experience is a bonus but not essential).
- The Communicator: You can translate a founder’s dream into a checklist that volunteers can actually follow.
- Local Passion: You care about Ealing and want to be a part of its youth-support legacy.
Volunteer-Proofing: Our Commitment to You
- Scope Clarity: We won't expect 40 hours of work. We need focused leadership, not "busywork".
- Empowerment: You will have the authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis within agreed board tolerances.
- Support: You’ll have direct access to the Founder and a Board of Trustees ready to back your decisions.
- Flexibility: We work around your professional and personal life.
What’s In It For You?
- Founding Credit: You will be the person who "launched" YCAS—a powerful addition to any professional portfolio.
- Leadership Growth: Rare experience managing a charity from its literal inception.
- Impact: Seeing a service open its doors because of the roadmap you built.
How to Apply
Please send your CV and a Covering Letter (max 1 page) explaining why you are the right "Architect" to help YCAS take flight in Ealing.

Working Chance is a unique, pioneering, award-winning national charity that supports women with criminal convictions into employment. We support women to create independent purposeful lives through helping them to build careers, we break cycles of reoffending and we inspire employers to embrace inclusive hiring.
This is an exciting time for Working Chance as we start developing our new three-year strategy which will come into effect from 1 September. The new strategy will see us taking an ever bolder stance on speaking up for women with convictions, solidifying our position as a thought leader on how to improve the employment rate of these women, and moving into providing consultancy for employers seeking our guidance and input on their recruitment and employment practices.
We are looking for an inspiring and committed Chair of Trustees to lead our Board at this exciting point in our development. This is a unique opportunity to shape the strategic direction of a highly respected and impactful charity, while championing a mission that addresses inequality, social justice and economic inclusion.
As Chair, you will work closely with the Chief Executive and fellow trustees to ensure strong governance, clear strategic focus, effective oversight and financial sustainability, while acting as an ambassador for Working Chance and its values. Download the Appointment Brief to learn all about the role, the charity and the recruitment process, and if you think you might be the person we’re looking for, we’d love to hear from you.
