Make A Smile is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safeguarding Officer to help us ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children, families, and volunteers we support across the UK. If you have safeguarding experience and want to use your skills to make a meaningful impact, this role offers the chance to help shape safe, joyful experiences for vulnerable children.

About the Role

The Safeguarding Officer plays a central role in maintaining high safeguarding standards across all Make A Smile Chapters. You will work closely with the Recruitment Manager to deliver high‑quality safeguarding training to volunteers, ensuring they understand their responsibilities and feel confident when working with children.

You will also lead on maintaining and updating our safeguarding policies, liaising with relevant organisations to ensure they remain comprehensive, compliant, and aligned with current legislation. A key part of the role involves supporting local officers to ensure all volunteers have an up‑to‑date DBS check before attending events.

As the charity’s central point of safeguarding expertise, you will provide guidance on concerns, advise on escalation routes, and help embed a strong safeguarding culture throughout the organisation.

What We Need You to Do

- Deliver safeguarding training to volunteers

You'll help us spread our message that nobody should face grief alone, connect people to our free virtual and in-person peer support meetings, and grow an online community built on openness and compassion. What You'll Do

• Create social media posts in line with our brand tone: inclusive, warm, and sensitive to the subject of bereavement
• Schedule and post updates about weekly peer support meetings and events
• Help plan simple campaigns or awareness posts around key dates (Mental Health Awareness Week, Grief Awareness Week, World Suicide Prevention Day, etc.)
• Contribute creative ideas to help our mission reach more people online
• Communicate regularly with your coordinator and flag any challenges early

What We're Looking For

• Someone who can commit to the full 6-month term (potential to extend)
• Reliable, communicative, and respectful of sensitive subject matter
• An interest in mental health, bereavement support, or nonprofit communications
• Confidence using social media (Instagram)
• Comfortable working independently with light supervision and taking initiative

Role Responsibilities

You can choose the areas that best suit your skills and interests. The role is flexible, and volunteers may opt to support one area or several.

1. Stock & Donations Management

• Sort donated items to ensure they are appropriate for sale or event use.
• Organise and manage stock ahead of upcoming events.
• Monitor stock levels and identify when outreach or additional donations are needed.

2. Event Support

• Attend fundraising events, engaging confidently with the public and sharing information about our work.
• Assist with setting up equipment and displays and help with packing away after events.
• Ensure stalls are well presented, welcoming, and visually engaging.
• Support sales of merchandise and the running of games/activities.
• Take photographs throughout the event for promotional use and reporting.
• Observe and record visitor numbers, engagement levels, and which stall features attract attention.
• (Optional) Act as a Stall Leader, taking the lead on the day to coordinate volunteers and ensure a smooth event.

3. Transport & Logistics

• Transport equipment, displays, and stock to and from event venues (using your own vehicle if appropriate).
• Help with stall setup upon arrival at the venue.

4. Admin Coordination

This is a key support role that helps keep the fundraising function organised and running smoothly.

• Booking events and completing relevant forms.
• Maintain a current contact list of volunteers.
• Manage and update volunteer availability rotas.
• Keep the fundraising project spreadsheet accurate and up to date.
• Update the “cat book” or event information pack ahead of each event.

• Friendly, confident communicators who enjoy speaking with the public.
• Organised, reliable volunteers who can work both independently and as part of a team.
• Individuals happy to support practical tasks such as setting up stalls or sorting stock.

About the Role

You’ll support our volunteer onboarding process — a key part of ensuring the right people are ready to mentor and support our communities.

You’ll be supported to:

• Send follow-up emails after mentoring training
• Manage references (request, track, and confirm receipt) in line with GDPR
• Set up volunteer profiles on our training platform
• Send DBS application invites and track progress to completion
• Keep the Volunteer Experience & Engagement Lead updated, flagging any issues
• Provide occasional admin support to the wider team

You’ll build practical admin, communication and organisation, skills and see how a charity operates behind the scenes.

The Commitment

• Minimum 6 months
• Around 7.5 hours per week (flexible across 1–2 days, Monday–Friday)

Experience isn't essential, but you do need to be reliable and proactive.

EAUC is the leading body for sustainability in the post-16 education sector in the UK and Republic of Ireland. Who we’re looking for

The EAUC board has twelve volunteer trustees. Two vacancies will arise following the AGM this year due to board members reaching their maximum tenure.

We welcome applications from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. We seek people who are committed to our mission, purpose and values, and who bring one or more of the following:

· insights into the further education or skills sectors

· cross sector organisational leadership insight

· experience in sustainability academic and/or research

We particularly encourage applications from people who are currently underrepresented on our board with regard to age, ethnicity and disability.

We’re REMIX, a Shoreditch‑based social mobility charity on a mission to help young people rewrite the stories they’ve been handed and remix their lives with confidence, creativity, and community. This September, we’re launching something big — and we need a Graphic Designer with energy, imagination, and a love for bold youth culture to help bring it all to life.

This VOLUNTEER Role

We’re looking for a volunteer Graphic Designer who can help us shape the visual identity of our launch. You’ll create a set of key design assets that will help us show the world who we are and what we stand for. Think vibrant, street‑inspired, future‑leaning visuals that feel at home in Shoreditch — and speak directly to young people who are ready to rise.

• Launch event visuals.

• Social media graphics.

• Flyers, posters, and digital promo materials.

• Templates our team can use going forward.

• Any other creative pieces that help us show up loud and proud in September.

We are looking for up to ten UK university students to join our volunteer Student Ambassadors team and help Ygam achieve its social purpose by reaching out to students at university. This will be achieved by advising Ygam on the needs of students, supporting with content development, organising activities at your campus, and join us at events to raise awareness of gaming and gambling harms.

We are seeking individuals who are outgoing, with a confident personality. You will enjoy engaging with other students and be able to advise us on the experiences of students with regards to gaming and gambling.
