We provide comfort, care and support to children with life-shortening conditions and their loved ones.
Too many families in Wales are struggling through the fear, exhaustion and uncertainty that comes with caring for a child whose life will be short.
At the moment we only have enough money and resources to support 10% of the families who need us.
Through volunteering, you can help us to reach every family who needs us.
As a Till & Customer Service Volunteer at our Cowbridge shop, you will assist our shop managers by serving and greeting customers and keeping the shop organised.
Our Cowbridge shop is in a prime location in the middle of the town's high street, immediately next to an all too tempting deli and about a two minute walk from the town car park.
The shop boasts a large window in which deputy manager Gemma creates themed and highly creative window for which they shop has won many an award.
Tom and Gemma have been utilising eBay to sell highest quality donations with great success and have recently launched a shop Instagram page (search tyhafancowbridge).
Tom and Gemma are always on the lookout for quirky, rare, vintage and high-value donations, and our jewellery, bric-a-brac and antiques specialists are more than happy to appraise any stock that comes our way. Further to this, books and vinyl also sell very well at Cowbridge.
The shop is open 9am-4:45pm Monday-Sunday and we appreciate any time you can spare.
Our shops generate funds that directly support the whole family, from therapeutic services for children, to emotional and practical care for families, to sibling support activities & experiences.
Considerations:
Age requirement: 18+

Commitment: Ideally, we would be looking for your support for at least 2 hours a week.
Current available shifts: Monday PM, Thursday PM
As a volunteer, you could be involved in various activities, depending on your preferences, skills and experience, these include:
•Providing a warm and friendly welcome to all customers entering the shop;
•Delivering excellent customer service to ensure a pleasant shopping experience;
•Handling cash transactions and operating the till with accuracy;
• Encouraging customers to sign up for Gift Aid, which increases the value of their donations;
• Selling and processing our raffle/lottery tickets;
• Acting as an ambassador for Tŷ Hafan, promoting our Big Ambition within your local community.

Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties
- Record and track all donations received through approved fundraising and payment platforms in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist with the reconciliation of donation records against bank statements and payment processor reports.
- Support the maintenance of accurate financial data within accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or equivalent systems.
- Prepare basic financial summaries, donation breakdowns, and internal reports for review by the Lead Financial Accountant.
- Assist with filing, document management, and maintaining audit-ready financial records in line with CIC policies.
- Ensure financial records are complete, clearly labelled, and stored in accordance with internal retention and compliance standards.
- Escalate discrepancies, missing information, or irregular transactions promptly and clearly to the Lead Financial Accountant.
- Adhere strictly to the CIC’s financial policies, ethical standards, and confidentiality requirements at all times.
- Support ad-hoc finance tasks as required to assist with month-end or internal reporting processes.
You must:
- Be aligned with the CIC’s mission, values, and ethical, anti-capitalist stance.
- Be willing to commit at a founding level during the unpaid build phase of the organisation.
- Be comfortable working with evolving or incomplete financial systems and helping to build structure, clarity, and good practice.
- Be able to work responsibly with sensitive financial and donor data.
- Be comfortable collaborating across multiple teams, including Finance, Operations, Fundraising, and Leadership.

You should bring experience in some of the following:

- Working with accounting software, spreadsheets, or structured financial systems.

Formal qualifications are not strictly required, but relevant education is desirable.
Essential equivalent practical or voluntary experience is mandatory.

Overview of the role
Warrington Foodbank are seeking someone to take the lead in organising and monitoring the work of our Board of Trustees, liaising between members to ensure our strategy and operations remain on track. Responsibilities

The Secretary of Trustees is responsible for leading on the administrative duties of the food bank and Board of Trustees. The Secretary will also lead on the development and management of policy schedules, ensuring that the Board of Trustees are aware and kept up to date regarding their legal, regulatory, and governance responsibilities.

Commitment:Our shops operate Monday-Saturday, 9am-4:45pm and we appreciate any time you can spare, but ideally at least 2 hours per week.

Activities include:
• Providing a warm and friendly welcome to all customers entering the shop;
• Helping customers to locate items they are looking for;
• Serving customers at the till;
• Taking donations and promoting Gift Aid;
• Selling and processing our raffle/lottery tickets;
• Acting as an ambassador for Tŷ Hafan, promoting our Big Ambition within your local community..

Visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing. In many cases, the visitor is the only person in someone’s life who isn’t paid to be there for them.
We are looking for a patient and caring volunteer to visit a man in his 50s who lives in a supported living home in central Leicester. He enjoys browsing holiday brochures, watching sports and films, and singing along to karaoke. A big fan of planes and football, he also likes cooking simple meals, gardening, and listening to music. He’s independent with many things like making drinks and snacks, and has a great sense of routine, plus, an impressive mug collection! If you enjoy good company and light-hearted activities, this could be a lovely match.
This is a Stop and stay, let’s get busy visitor role which means the person you will be visiting can communicate actively with you and take part in choosing or planning activities. As you get to know each our you may choose to ‘go out’ either with or without support from the staff that supports the person you visit. Your volunteer manager will be happy to help you with ideas and suggestions for things you can do. Visits will vary in length but tends to be around an hour or longer, depending on what you do.

Experience Qualification and Requirements
Essential Technical Competencies
- Completed a qualification in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline OR equivalent practical experience.
- Comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets, and structured financial data.
- Basic understanding of accounting or finance systems and how financial data flows between them.
- Familiarity with accounting software or a strong willingness and ability to learn new systems quickly.
- High attention to detail with strong logical and analytical thinking skills.
- Process-driven approach with the ability to follow data standards consistently.
- Strong sense of ethics, confidentiality, and responsibility when handling financial and donor information.
Desirable Competencies
- Experience supporting finance or data processes within non-profit, CIC, or purpose-led organisations.

- Assist with generating basic donation, income, and trend reports for internal use.
- Identify missing data, inconsistencies, duplicate entries, or anomalies and report them clearly to the Lead Financial Accountant.
- Support the preparation of internal finance dashboards, summaries, and structured data outputs.
- Maintain organised and well-structured digital records in line with CIC data governance and documentation standards.
- Follow established processes for data entry, validation, and version control.
- Work under the guidance of the Lead Financial Accountant to improve data quality and reporting accuracy.
- Handle all financial data with confidentiality, care, and ethical responsibility.
You must:
- Be aligned with the CIC’s mission, values, and ethical, anti-capitalist stance.
- Be willing to commit at a founding level during the unpaid build phase of the organisation.
- Be comfortable working with evolving or incomplete financial and data systems and helping to build structure, clarity, and reliable processes.
- Be able to work responsibly with sensitive financial, donor, and operational data.
- Be comfortable collaborating across multiple teams, including Finance, Operations, Fundraising, and Leadership.
- Be able to follow defined guidance, policies, and data controls while applying sound judgement where systems are still developing.
You should bring experience in some of the following:
- Supporting finance, accounting, or data processes within small organisations or teams.
- Donation tracking, income data management, or financial record maintenance.
