Join our amazing volunteer team to raise awareness of the issues affecting blind and partially sighted people in relation to sport. You will give talks in person or virtually, sharing your own story to improve understanding of sight loss to sports clubs, sporting venues and facilities and community groups. You’ll be making a real difference to people living with sight loss by helping to improve accessibility and inclusivity, creating a sporting world without barriers.

What you’ll be doing
1. Talks to sports and physical activity providers to support and encourage them to consider the needs of blind and partially sighted people by sharing your story to audiences, for example, local leisure centres, sporting venues and sports clubs.
2. Delivering talks to raise awareness of existing sporting and physical activity opportunities for blind and partially sighted people.
3. Representing RNIB as an Ambassador for the Community Connection service.

What skills and experience are needed?

• You’ll ideally have 1. Lived experience in playing, spectating, or delivering sport or physical activity sessions as a blind or partially sighted person. 2. Lived experience of issues affecting blind and partially sighted people in relation to sports and physical activity. 3. Be comfortable speaking to different audiences to share your sporting story, or a willingness to try with our support. 4. Have effective communication skills. 5. An outgoing friendly approach to meeting new people

We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to support our team across Cardiff in organising events, activities, clubs and fundraising days!

If you would like to make a difference and make new friends along the way, we would love to hear from you! 
 
Activities will include 

• Attending and assisting with the logistics of events; this can include setting up, clearing down, selling raffle tickets and refreshments, directing traffic and helping the people we support enjoy the atmosphere of the day

• Helping to arrange and attend; friendship groups, coffee catch ups, creative craft sessions and much more 

• Offering ideas for fundraising or fun things to do! 

• Liaising with Dimensions Community Connections Officer

• Being there for company, friendship and fun to the people we support 

 
You will have the flexibity to choose activities that are of most interest to you. 

About you 
We are looking for someone who is: 

• Enthusiastic about volunteering 

• Organised and helpful

• Comfortable chatting with people with learning disabilities and autism 

• Friendly, enthusiastic and interested in others

• Passionate about supporting people

• Reliable/dependable and willing to volunteer regularly

A DBS check and two character references will be required for this role.

What you’ll gain from being a Dimensions volunteer:

At Rethink Mental Illness, we believe everyone deserves understanding, connection, and the chance to live a fulfilling life. Our volunteers play a vital role in supporting people affected by mental illness and helping create communities where no one feels alone. 

About the role

As a Community Support Volunteer you will: 

As a Community Support Volunteer, you will complete face-to-face befriending activities with service users. You need to be able to travel around the locality in which you live to be able to do this. Ideally, you will be able to commit to a minimum of 1/2 a day (3-4 hours) of volunteering per week on a flexible basis, with the option to increase.

You will be working alongside our team of community link workers.

There may also be the opportunity to also attend different community events to advertise the service.

There will be full training opportunities to ensure that you are successful in your volunteering role, as well as regular check-in meetings.

About the service  

The Empowering Minds Gloucestershire Service currently run group sessions for service users across Gloucestershire. 

Our team is dedicated to delivering a high-quality service that focuses on supporting individuals to achieve their recovery goals. The aim is to improve the lives and support independence for those living with a mental illness. The team will engage with other local providers to ensure a clear and seamless pathway for those that require support from multiple providers. 

What will make you a great fit for this role?  

It’s essentials to have the following:

• Lived experience of mental illness, whether that is caring for someone else or yourself.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Flexibility.
• Experience of working with people in some way, whether formally through employment or informally working as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills.
• Reliability and good timekeeping.
• Have a good understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding.

Although it’s not essential, you may also have:

• Experience of supporting someone with ill mental health / mental illness.
• Good knowledge of your local area and organisations.

- Organise an activity independently 
- Fundraise with friends, family or colleagues 
- Team up with other local Community Wish Makers 
- Support an existing Make-A-Wish fundraising campaign or event 
- Whether it's a bake sale, quiz night, sponsored challenge, workplace fundraiser, school activity or local business partnership, you'll be helping raise the funds needed to grant more wishes

We'll provide resources, guidance and support to help you succeed.

The Community Ambassador Volunteer role is a flexible, people-focused role where you'll represent MumsAid at local events, community fairs, business engagement opportunities, and awareness-raising activities. Acting as a friendly and knowledgeable ambassador, you'll help share information about our services, fundraising activities, and volunteering opportunities, helping more people learn about MumsAid. 

No previous experience is required. We will provide training, resources, and ongoing support to help you feel confident representing MumsAid in your community. 

What will you be doing? 

• Representing MumsAid at local community events, fairs, markets, business events, and awareness-raising opportunities. 

• Acting as a friendly and welcoming point of contact for members of the public. 

• Talking to people about MumsAid's services and the support available. 

• Sharing information about volunteering, fundraising, and ways to get involved with MumsAid. 

• Distributing leaflets, promotional materials, and information resources. 

• Helping raise awareness of perinatal mental health and the support available through MumsAid. 

• Answering general questions about MumsAid and signposting enquiries to the appropriate staff member where needed. 

• Gathering feedback, questions, and community insights to share with the MumsAid team. 

• Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and welcoming presence for MumsAid within the local community. 

• Following MumsAid's policies and procedures, including safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety, and equality and diversity guidance.

About Pecan

Pecan tackles poverty in Southwark by restoring dignity, belonging and hope through connected community services that address food insecurity, unemployment and isolation. From food banks and employment support to welcoming community spaces, we combine practical help with emotional and community care, helping people regain confidence, feel hopeful and believe in their potential.

About The Role

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.

We're looking for a Fundraising Trustee to join our Board and provide strategic fundraising expertise. This role combines governance responsibilities with practical support, helping us strengthen existing income streams, develop new opportunities and build relationships across Peckham and Southwark.

Main Responsibilities:

• Governance and Strategic Leadership: Fulfil the responsibilities of a charity trustee, ensuring effective governance and accountability. Attend and contribute to Board meetings and strategic discussions. 

• Fundraising: Provide strategic advice across key income streams, including trusts and foundations, statutory contracts, inividual giving and corporate partnerships. Share fundraising expertise and help identify new opportunitiies for sustainable income. 

• Community Engagement: Attend and support fundraising events, community activities and supporter engagement opportunities. Act as an enthusiastic ambassador for Pecan, promoting our mission and values within the local community. 

Essential Requirements 

• A practising Christian who is committed to Pecan's mission and values
• Experience of charity fundraising, such as community fundraising, events, church engagement, corporate partnerships or individual giving. 
• Strong relationship-building and networking skills. 
• Willingness to act as a local ambassador for Pecan. 
• Able to attend Board meetings held in the evenings. 

Desirable knowledge/expertise

• Knowledge of, or strong connections within, Peckham and/or Southwark.
• Ability to commit to 4-8 hours per month, with some months requiring more time to attend meetings, fundraising events, or networking opportunities. We recognise that trustees have varying availability, and additional involvement beyond core governance responsibilities is flexible. 
• Experience working with churches.
• Experience engaging local businesses, schools or community organisations. 
• Understanding of charity governance and trustee responsibilities. 
• Existing networks within Peckham and Southwark. 

Time Commitment 

The expected commitment is flexible and averages a few hours each month, including:

• 4-6 Board meetings per year (evenings, usually held virtually).
• Ad hoc Fundraising Committee meetings (typically during the daytime). 
• Occassional fundraising and networking events, including some evenings and weekends
• Additional support nd networking where your availability allows.
