Chair of Trustees at Watford and Three Rivers Refugee Partnership (WTRRP)

Job summary: 

We're looking for a Chair of Trustees to help shape the strategic vision of WTRRP as we move forward into our 25th year as a charity. This would be someone to support us with our strategy in line with our mission and our values. In this role, you will lead the Committee and other Trustees co-chairs of the charity, share responsibility for the agenda and actions of Trustee meetings and AGM, improving good governance and acting as a senior ambassador of the organisation. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, availability and leadership skills to work collaboratively with our small staff and our volunteers.

WTRRP exists to support asylum seekers and refugees in Watford and Three Rivers who do not yet have settled status in the UK or may have specific needs relating to their application process or welfare. The main services of the charity are a drop-in session and social hub every Tuesday (at St Mary’s Church in central Watford), ESOL classes, providing advice and financial support to its clients and assisting them to integrate into the local community.

The Partnership has grown dramatically over the past 5 years, which is why we are looking for a Chair to join us. WTRRP is run by a committee that meets typically every 1-2 months and it also provides supervision to our 3 staff members and support to our 70 volunteers.

We would welcome applicants with any of the following experience:

• Governance and previous Committee experience
• Business development and charitable fundraising
• Human resources and people management
• Lived experience of being a Refugee or Migrant
• Financial background

Principal responsibilities:

1. Be part of the Committee, supporting the organisation as it grows and develops.
2. Have availability to regularly attend the Tuesday hub/drop-in at St. Marys church from 11- 2pm to support the team.
3. Oversee the administration and coordination of sub-committees.
4. Serve as line manager to our Operations Manager, helping to conduct planned supervision and appraisals.
5. Represent the Partnership as required to the public or external parties such as funders and Community groups.

Key tasks

1.  Programme design

○ Design a coherent portfolio across personal development, sports and wellbeing, and community and belonging.

○ Define the intended outcome of every programme before it is built.

○ Retire programmes that no longer earn their place in the calendar.

2.  Delivery & coordination

○ Schedule sessions, facilitators and spaces across the programme calendar.

○ Prepare materials and resources, and host or support delivery.

○ Adapt on the day when numbers, rooms or facilitators change.

3.  Quality & facilitation

○ Set the standard for facilitation, content and participant experience.

○ Recruit, brief and develop facilitators, coaches and speakers.

○ Observe delivery regularly and give feedback that improves it.

4.  Participant journey

○ Welcome newcomers and make sure nobody is left standing on their own.

○ Design pathways so a first-time attendee has an obvious next step.

○ Follow up with people who have dropped off, and own retention.

5.  Impact & evidence

○ Define success in measurable terms and collect outcome data consistently.

○ Maintain accurate attendance records and gather stories and case studies.

○ Produce the impact evidence Fundraising needs for applications and funder reporting.

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Volunteers to join our drop in group in Eastbourne that take place on the last Wednesday of the month 10.30-12.00 in Alice Court Care Home BN21 2BQ . This role is ideal for individuals looking to make a meaningful impact in the community while gaining valuable experience.

The Say Aphasia charity provides support groups across the UK for people with aphasia; a language and communication disability caused by a brain injury like a stroke. Aphasia affects over 350,000 people in the UK but is little understood or known about by the public. It is the only aphasia charity set up by people with aphasia for people with aphasia; helping them to adapt to their new way of life and regain their independence and confidence.

Aphasia occurs due to injury to the brain such as a stroke. It affects access to language, resulting in difficulties following conversations, speaking, reading and writing. People’s language can be affected to different degrees so not everyone’s aphasia looks the same. Imagine for a moment not being able to verbally order a coffee or ask for a bus ticket. This may be what life could look like for someone with aphasia. Aphasia is a lifelong condition and means that the person living with aphasia, their friends and family will need to adjust to a new way of communicating to overcome barriers. This may mean having to write or draw things instead of speaking. Due to the damage in the brain, people with aphasia may find it difficult to process conversions as quickly as before. Aphasia frequently results in loss of employment and a reduced social network, leading to isolation for the person living with aphasia.

Say Aphasia are looking to welcome new volunteers to help out at the group.

Volunteering for the charity is very rewarding. The training and support ensures that the volunteers learn and enjoy their time with the charity. By giving your time to people with aphasia, you will be improving their quality of life. Many of the members attending the groups live alone, or have minimal social interactions. Having a regular drop-in group to meet others with similar experiences of living with aphasia, vastly improves their mental health and well being. Aim of this role
Assessor volunteers support the drop-in sessions in our offices and outreach. They discuss with clients the issues they have come to us for help with. After this (and with full support from the supervisor), assessors discuss next steps and actions with the client to help resolve their issues.

As an Assessor, you will be a part of the service delivery. You will:

• complete an induction to Citizens Advice and training for your role

• help with the drop-in sessions

• complete full assessments with our clients, following CAML processes and procedures

• record a summary of your interactions with clients in our Case Management System and consult with the Supervisor on the day regarding the relevant next steps

• ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion are promoted in our work

• adhere to Citizens Advice Merton and Lambeth’s aims and principles

• maintain all relevant GDPR rules and regulations

Our main offices in Kennington, Morden and Mitcham and different outreach locations in Merton and Lambeth. All three offices are well-connected to public transport, and the office in Mitcham has a car park.

Commitment
This role requires you attend our offices or outreach locations in person.

Our offices are open to the public from 9.30am to 3pm, five days a week. During your training, you are required to contribute at least one day in one of our offices and Wednesdays each week for online training. After your training is completed, you required to attend one of our offices at least one full day per week in office. Ideally we ask for a commitment to volunteer with CAML for at least 12 months.

As a Macmillan Information & Advice Hub Volunteer, you’ll get a chance to meet new people and be part of an amazing team of Volunteers. It is really important to us that we provide the practical and emotional assistance required to our clients and that's why both Macmillan and ourselves will give you the support, supervision, volunteer insurance, and training required for the role.

The Hub is a drop in facility aimed at giving advice to local residents living with cancer, their friends and family or even fellow professionals. You will be providing face-to-face assistance which will include giving out high quality Macmillan advice resources or signposting to other service (all with the support of an employed Co-ordinator). You will also be providing emotional support by showing empathy, actively listening, and providing encouragement and reassurance. The Hub is based in Hastings Town Centre (the old Town Hall) and you could volunteer for as little as half a day.

We are currently looking for 1 volunteer for Friday mornings and 1 for Friday afternoons

Role Summary

You own how money comes into Pinnacle. Grants, corporate sponsorship, community giving and donor relationships all sit with you, and your job is to make them add up to an income that is diversified enough to survive one of them failing — while laying the groundwork for the campaign that funds Vision 2030. Finance manages what we spend; you determine what there is to spend.

Key tasks

1.  Strategy & pipeline

○ Own the annual fundraising plan with clear targets by income stream, agreed with the CFO.

○ Maintain a live pipeline of funders, sponsors and donors with deadlines, values and likelihood.

○ Balance the portfolio so that no single funder or channel is a point of failure.

○ Sequence effort towards the Vision 2030 capital requirement rather than only this year's costs.

2.  Community & digital giving

○ Design and run giving campaigns, including seasonal appeals and sponsored challenges.

○ Own our giving platforms, donation pages and Gift Aid processing.

○ Build a regular giving programme and reduce lapse rates through timely, human communication.

○ Set the ask and the case; work with Marketing, who own the channels and audience.

3.  Donor care, compliance & reporting

○ Ensure every donation is acknowledged promptly and that donors hear what their money changed.

○ Maintain an accurate donor record with consent and preferences, compliant with GDPR.

○ Ensure all fundraising meets Fundraising Regulator standards.

○ Report income against target to the CFO monthly, with an honest read on the pipeline.

What we're looking for

● A track record of raising money —community fundraising or High net worth.

● Excellent written English; you can make a case that persuades a stranger to fund it.

● Comfortable with targets, pipelines and being measured against them.

● You understand the difference between an ask and a relationship, and know when each is appropriate.

● Organised enough to run several income streams without dropping the reporting on any of them.

● Experience of a capital appeal or major campaign (desirable).

Online Sales Volunteer (Vinted & eBay)

Help turn donated treasures into vital funds for our charity!

We are looking for an enthusiastic and trustworthy volunteer to support our online sales through Vinted and eBay. If you enjoy spotting valuable items, researching prices, taking photos or have an interest in online selling, this could be a rewarding role for you.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll help us raise extra funds by preparing and listing donated items for sale online.

Tasks may include:

• Identifying suitable donated items for online sale
• Preparing and presenting items for listing
• Taking clear, appealing photographs
• Researching pricing and helping value items
• Creating listings on Vinted and eBay
• Monitoring and assisting with online sales activity
• Packing sold items ready for posting
• Taking parcels to local drop-off points
• Helping maximise income from donated goods

We’re looking for someone who:

• Is trustworthy, reliable and enthusiastic
• Has good attention to detail
• Is comfortable using online platforms or willing to learn

Job Description:

The Women & Families Resource Centre (WFRC) is a registered charity based in Wolverhampton which supports, empowers and advocates for women and children. We aim to actively encourage women to be self-reliant, through empowering them to identify their own needs, make their own choices and create their own solutions.

We offer short term home visits, counselling sessions, baby bank, practical & emotional One to One support, Domestic violence groups, Awareness raising workshops and drop in or chat groups to help women facing crises or challenging situations.

Purpose
The effective provision of a welcoming client administration service for WFRC.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

1. Reception

To welcome clients and other visitors in person or on the telephone.

To answer the telephone and pass on messages to other WFRC staff and volunteers as well as signpost to other organisations where appropriate.

2. To assist the Office Manager to make reservations for and be the first point of contact for WFRC’s Chat group, events & other activities. To keep a record of all interested clients and send out relevant literature.

3. To assist with the purchasing and control of domestic matters, stationery, kitchen supplies and office equipment as requested by the Office Manager.

4. To assist in general recruitment activities such as writing, placing and updating adverts and undertake administrative duties to support WFRC Services.

5. To take the post to the central post office at the end of each day.

We are looking to help Carers with IT support needs and require a Volunteer to offer 1:1 sessions to help them with their basic difficulties on their phone, tablet or laptop. In the first instance, we require someone for a morning or afternoon once a month to visit our different Cafes around the London Borough of Hillingdon and offer a Drop-In service. This will be reviewed after 4 months.

This role will suit someone who:

• Has excellent verbal communication skills

• Ideally has experience of supporting people in a learning environment

Main duties will include:

• Meeting a Carer and listening to their IT problem

Training and Support

• All volunteers are expected to undertake induction training at Carers Trust Hillingdon, both online and in person

• You will report to the Carer Development Officer and will receive regular supervision and support.

A charity  based in  Croydon, Surrey, London, UK is looking for volunteer Charity Volunteer Assistants; to volunteer 30 unpaid hours per week. The Charity serves a multi ethnic community especially people from Black and ethnic minority backgrounds.

• To assist in the delivery of events (ours and those we are invited to), projects and our yearly summer community event.

Volunteers will support the running of the group with communicating, and will have the opportunity to utilise their communication skills and IT knowledge to take a register of attendance.

• Provide companionship and support to individuals, particularly those living with asphasia.
• Assist in organising activities that promote social interaction and engagement.

The Beacon Project is a community-focused programme providing confidential advice, connection, and learning opportunities for residents in the World’s End area. Through weekly coffee mornings, group sessions, and a befriending service that matches individuals with friendly Connectors for regular meet-ups, Beacon helps reduce isolation and build meaningful local relationships. Are you driven and motivated by sales with knowledge of running an online shop? Are you familiar with Facebook marketplace, eBay Vinted and any others? Could you take on the roles of managing our products, selling them, packing them and posting them? A few hours a week volunteer time is all we are asking for a new dynamic role that could lead to a big business opportunity, whilst raising vital funds for a small grassroots charity. 

We are looking for an 'Online Seller' volunteer to coordinate the end to end process of itemising and uploading the items on online reseller sites (i.e. facebook marketplace, ebay, vinted), packing up items, and managing all communication and item exchange with interested buyers to maximise the funds from sales as much as possible. The items will be dropped off to you to coordinate pick up with buyers, and therefore we are looking for volunteers that are London based only and have the space to store small items (clothing, books, ornaments etc). 

As well as ideally having previous experience selling items online through online marketplaces like facebook and ebay, we are looking for volunteers who are highly organised, with strong written communication skills, in order to deal with buyers throughout the process. We are looking for that high energy person to help push the sales of our products, ranging right across the board from anything to everything.

What’s in it for you? Volunteering at PINT is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in  the charity sector, develop your skills, and contribute to an amazing cause. However there is commission avaliable of up to 50% per item of the profit made. The rewards are huge but the impact will be greater.

The time commitment can be flexible with whatever you are able to give, but around 4 hours a week on average could be a good estimate.
