Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example:

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 
• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations
• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press
• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork
• championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement
• photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection
• You’ll need to be aged 18+ to volunteer in this role. If you’re aged 16-17, you’ll need to be supervised by a friend, family member, or guardian over the age of 18 in order to carry out any fundraising activity.

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

• allocating tasks before and during fundraising events
• keeping financial records from fundraising events
• encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 
• following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

Time expectation

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Being a trustee at IVAR is about more than governance oversight. We want a board of different voices and perspectives that will challenge our thinking and push us to be bolder

With the support of the staff team and professional associates, trustees at IVAR are expected to:

- Set and maintain the strategy and values.
- Ensure IVAR complies at all times with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
- Maintain proper financial control and ensure IVAR applies its resources exclusively in pursuit of its charitable objects, as defined in the governing documents.
- Support the operational management of the charity.

In addition to these, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the Board reach sound decisions. Trustees are also actively encouraged to become involved in specific projects outside of board meetings, drawing on their own networks and experience to help support staff in their work.

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Role Description

This is a volunteer role for a Financial Director and trustee. The role will ensure that the financial affairs of the Charity are conducted within legal requirements, accounting conventions and good practice and in conjunction with the General Manager to protect and enhance the financial wellbeing of the Charity. 

Reports to:

Board of Trustees

Major Accountabilities:

• To lead in developing financial plans for the Charity with income and expenditure goals which are attainable within the resources available to the Charity 

• To ensure that the Board is aware of its financial responsibilities and options available 

• To ensure suitable systems for budgeting, financial control, risk management, insurance, and accounting records are in place

• To assist the external accountants with processing more complex transactions, recording capex, raising prepayments and accruals at month-ends and to work with them to ensure compliance with HMRC requirements as appropriate

• To keep Trustees informed about Charity’s finances by written report, at least on a quarterly basis. To communicate with relevant department heads and other staff so as to maintain a clear picture of the financial health of the organisation

• To work with the Charity’s external accountants and auditor/independent examiner to meet external reporting requirements, including grant reporting and the annual financial report to members

• To know, abide by and promote the Charity’s values, policies and objectives, including to external parties. To support appropriate communication between the Board and staff, members and stakeholders

Volunteer Living History Assistant

About The Role

By providing an excellent visitor experience as a member of the Living History team, you will be bringing wetlands throughout history, and the history of the mere to life by delivering key messages about how important wetlands are for food, materials, medicine and livelihoods. This encourages our visitors to make the most of their visit to Martin Mere, and to understand and support our work to save wetlands for wildlife and people.

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You’ll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

About You

No previous experience is required as training will be provided.  However this role will suit you if you have a love of wildlife and the outdoors and are:

• A good knowledge of local history
• Confident or experienced in delivering talks
• Able to work in a team of staff and volunteers
• Experience in a customer related role would be advantageous
• Able to communicate well to a diverse range of audiences
• Familiar with Martin Mere centre

Here at hearts in the stand we are looking for volunteers to help woth fundraising and woth going into the communities to assist with our CPR and first aid training.

We are seeking a WordPress developer to revamp our current website. Preferably able to do IT support for the site. Your input to our online presence will shape how we are presented to service users, funders and the general public. The more eyes on us, the more support we have to reach our objective.

We need someone who has experience with creating and designing user-friendly websites on the WordPress platform. These are the key soft skills we're looking for:

• detail-oriented
• problem-solving
• team collaboration

Play Area Maintenance Volunteer

About The Role

Washington’s amazing inner grounds have a lot of infrastructure which requires regular maintenance. By volunteering your time with us you will be helping to ensure that Washington’s play area is maintained to the highest standard for our visitors, helping families make memories in our amazing wetlands.

What will you be doing?

• This role will be varied, and will involve a lot of daily maintenance/minor repair of the play area, including:
• Inspection of play area to identify work required and ensure it is in working order (training will be given in line with our Play Inspection system)
• Cleaning of play equipment and ground surfaces using brushes, mobile jetwash and environmentally safe detergents
• Raking and replenishment of woodchip and sand
• Weeding of play area
• Identifying and undertaking minor repairs of equipment and pathways within the play area
• Managing vegetation around the play area and its pathways

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You’ll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

About You

Who are we looking for?

• Someone who should be committed to good customer service and willing to engage our visitors with the work of WWT.
• Any volunteer should be able and willing to undertake a range of physical activities outside in all weathers.
• Previous experience with the use of hand tools would be an advantage, although not necessarily a necessity.
• Proactive and able to work with a minimum of supervision, under the direction of the grounds team.
• Must have excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.

Time Commitment: Between 6 & 10 hours per week with a commitment to a minimum of 6-months, so you can get ht best out of the experience. We will mutually agree the hours that you can contribute
