Recover Together is entering a pivotal moment. We’re looking for trustees who want to help us get there.

We’re a charity rooted in lived experience. We help people across the UK build positive lives after gambling harm, and we challenge the stigma that stands in the way of recovery. As the sector shifts towards the Levy and NHS commissioning, we need a Board that can help us navigate change with clarity and ambition.

This is a real chance to shape an organisation that changes lives every day.

Who we’re looking for

All trustees share responsibility for our governance and strategic direction. We’re especially keen to hear from people with experience in:

• Finance. Accounting, audit or financial governance. Charity finance experience is particularly welcome, with the possibility of taking on the Treasurer role.
• Legal and governance. Ideally in charity, regulation, employment or commercial law.
• NHS, public sector and commissioning. Understanding of how services are commissioned, funded and evaluated.
• Fundraising and business development. Experience building diverse, sustainable income.
• Marketing, communications and PR. Helping us challenge stigma and keep lived experience at the centre of how we talk about our work.

Lived experience is not a requirement for every role, but it is central to who we are. We warmly welcome applications from people with personal experience of gambling harm, addiction or recovery. We also want our Board to reflect the communities we serve, so we encourage applications from people with different backgrounds and perspectives.

What being a trustee involves

As a trustee, you’ll share responsibility for our governance, finances and strategy. Day to day running is down to the CEO and staff team. Trustees provide the strategic oversight that keeps everything on track.

It’s a voluntary, unpaid role, but we’ll always reimburse reasonable expenses, including travel and childcare during Board meetings.

We meet six to eight times a year, mostly online, with at least one in-person meeting a year.
