Can you help us by providing a calm, safe, and caring environment for our small furries whilst we find them their fur-ever home?

Often when we think about animal fostering, cats, and dogs spring to mind, but have you ever thought about fostering our smaller animals? The RSPCA received more than 5,000 reports last year about rabbits and other small furries relating to neglect or abandonment and rescued an average of 340 small furries a month! To help us with the rehoming of these small animals, we are actively looking to add to our fantastic team of volunteer fosterers.

As a small animal fosterer, you would play an essential role in providing the animals in our care with a temporary home whilst they are being rehomed. Like us, even small furries have specific needs and requirements, but rest assured, once we have guided you through the fostering process the animal centre will ensure that you have all the necessary guidance, equipment, food, and veterinary care.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Provide them with care, safe suitable housing, and space for playtime, as outlined in our policies and guidelines.

• Ensure that they are groomed if appropriate and fed and watered.

• Provide them with suitable and clean bedding to keep them cosy.

• Give them lots of attention and plenty of cuddles as they are very sociable animals.

What We’re Looking For:

• Volunteers aged 18 or over who have had plenty of experience of caring for animals.

• Fostering experience is beneficial but not essential as training is provided.

• For their wellbeing, our small furries may need to be fostered in pairs, so please bear this in mind.

• Any existing pets or animals need to have been spayed/neutered (some medical reasons may mean they cannot be so, please let us know if this is the case).

• You should be located in South Buckinghamshire or within a reasonable distance.

As a sustainability charity, we take donated surplus (over-stocked) food and redistribute it to people in need.
The initiatives we support include food banks, schools, community groups and charities.
Our vital work supports people experiencing extreme hardship and prevents good food going to landfill, where it would contribute to climate warming through greenhouse gas emissions. 
We need help in our warehouse to receive and record supplies, load and unload vans, and prepare orders for delivery. In return, we offer training and support to help you obtain skills and experience if you are seeking work. This role is vital to FareShare's work, ensuring that the food in our warehouse is sorted, labelled and organised into orders.
It is perfect for someone who is:

a) Looking for a practical activity to keep busy and physically fit.
b) Looking for experience and skills to gain employment in the food industry, warehousing or customer service.
c) Wanting to help their community and help tackle global warming.
d) Wanting to make new friends.

Our volunteer roles are available Monday to Friday, for a whole or half day, with shifts between 8:30-am-12:30pm and 12:30-4:30pm. 
Volunteers are typically involved on one day a week.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
Receiving, sorting, cataloguing and storing chilled and ambient food and preparing orders for delivery. 
Ensuring food quality and safety by checking ‘use by’ and ‘best before’ dates.
Unpacking deliveries, recording and categorising food.
Assembling food orders.
Assisting our Community Food Members with their order collections.
Maintaining health and safety and hygiene standards. 
Helping with cleaning and other routine tasks.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: You must...
Be reasonably physically fit to carry out tasks, including lifting and loading.
Speak English well in order to communicate clearly with our Community Food Members, and to understand and follow instructions and health and safety rules. 
Have basic literacy and numeracy skills to record details of donated food.
Be able to work to Health and Safety standards.
Be happy to complete tasks independently according to instruction.
Be positive, friendly and enthusiastic about tackling food waste and food insecurity.
Be reliable and able to commit to an agreed session/day.

LOCATION
We are located in Maynard House, New Smithfield Market, Openshaw, M11 2WJ, which is easily reachable on public transport. We have free-onsite parking and secure storage for bicycles.

Information about the role

You’ll support people coming to Shelter for housing, benefit or debt help. This might involve giving them updates on their case, sharing information about local services, and supporting them with form filling.

Location: Shelter Lancashire Hub, Blackburn Central Library, Town Hall Street, Blackburn. Volunteering activity could be in the Hub or in our community settings.

SV 2 has been supporting victims and survivors of sexual abuse since 1994, and today provides a range of services to anyone in Derbyshire and Derby City who has experienced sexual abuse, assault or violence, including their friends and family members. We support people irrespective of age, gender or when the abuse occurred.

We are looking to recruit a team of events volunteers to help raise awareness of SV2 services at external events, celebrations and various festivals across Derbyshire.

Requirements: You must be over the age of 18 along with having great communication and interpersonal skills. You must be flexible and willing to volunteer at various locations including outside events on a rota basis with the expectation of approximately 1-2 events per month (travel expenses will be covered).

You must be enthusiastic about raising awareness of sexual abuse. You will also need access to a car with business insurance which can be used to transport marketing material such as banners and leaflets to events for this role.

Responsibilities: You will be working with a small team of volunteers to provide a visible presence in order to promote SV2 services and raise aware of sexual abuse at various events within the county. We’re looking for friendly and welcoming volunteers to join us, who are enthusiastic and excited to help our clients and supporters. Whether you’re a confident communicator who wants to engage with your local community or a reliable and honest volunteer looking to help us sort our donations, we’d love to have you on board as a Donation Support Volunteer!

Donation Support Volunteers will volunteer within the BCWA Fundraising Team, assisting with their day-to-day activity, whether that’s helping sort our valuable donations, tidying and keeping our donation cupboards clean, supporting the team with tasks or helping with collections in the community.  Fundraising at BCWA can be a busy, high-pressure environment – our volunteers are integral at our busiest times of the year to ensure our clients and services get the support they need.

Volunteering with our Fundraising Team might look like:

• Supporting with processing donations – including moving and handling and carrying a variety of items.
• Helping keep our storage areas for donations clean and tidy.
• Getting involved with your local community and coming up with creative new ideas for fundraising drives.
• Assisting with collections if you are comfortable and have a valid UK Driving License.
• Being an advocate for BCWA!

To keep everyone informed, supported, and working towards shared goals, all fundraising volunteers are invited to join our quarterly team meeting. These sessions will:

• Share upcoming events and new fundraising opportunities
• Give updates on current projects and campaign progress
• Offer a clear focus for the months ahead
• Provide space for volunteers to share ideas, feedback, and experiences
• Strengthen team connection and celebrate achievements

You’ll always know what we’re aiming for and how your contribution fits into the bigger picture.

As a BCWA Donation Support Volunteer, you’ll get:

• All the training you need to understand and be prepared for your role with us, so you can use your time with us to grow and learn!
• Regular check-ins and contact with our Volunteer Coordinator as an opportunity to catch up, reflect and feedback on your volunteering experience with us.
• Access to the Wisdom App and the BCWA wellbeing provision.
• Access high quality support and advice from BCWA whenever you need it.
• Your travel to and from sessions expensed.
• A reference to support you in your next steps, whether that is a voluntary or paid role elsewhere.
• The knowledge that you’re making a real difference to the lives of victims and survivors of violence and abuse as you volunteer alongside a team of passionate and experienced fundraisers!

All posts are subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. It will be necessary for an enhanced disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service for details of any previous criminal convictions.

Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies. The post holder must be female.

Are you passionate about creating content?  Are you keen to make a difference and contribute to the impact BCWA makes? 

We’re looking for creative and collaborative volunteers to bring content ideas to life and prepare materials for events, helping BCWA engage with local communities and organisations. If you are enthusiastic about trends, are looking for opportunities to curate ideas with diverse teams and are a strong communicator who wants to help survivors, we’d love to have you on board as a Social Media Volunteer!

Social Media Volunteers volunteer alongside our Communications Officer, creating content that ensures information about the services Black Country Women’s Aid provide is widely available across communities. They help people connect with us online and learn more about how we help survivors cope and recover, alongside creating content and materials that educate people on challenging abuse and violence. Social Media Volunteers help BCWA further engage with the community and other sector partners. They collaborate with BCWA Service Managers and different teams to build content that effectively promotes services, events or fundraising drives. They think creatively, contributing their own ideas for content and bringing these to life.

Being a Social Media Volunteer might look like:

• Collaborating with BCWA staff to create content for BCWA communications
• Preparing materials for events, like leaflets and posters and keeping these organised
• Researching community groups, local organisations and other agencies for engagement
• Liaising with the Communications Officer to bring new content ideas to life
• Engaging with BCWA teams to promote events or fundraising drives
• Being an advocate for BCWA!

As a BCWA Social Media Volunteer, you’ll get:

• All the training you need to understand and be prepared for your role with us, so you can use your time with us to grow and learn!
