Every year, young people in our community face the frightening reality of having nowhere safe to stay. By becoming a Volunteer Nightstop Host, you can provide a warm welcome, a safe place to sleep, and the breathing space a young person needs while longer-term support is put in place.

About Us

Wyre Forest and South Worcestershire Nightstop and Mediation works with young people aged 16–25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to build an independent and positive future.

Our services include:

• Safe, emergency accommodation through our Nightstop community hosting scheme.
• Family and school mediation to help prevent relationship breakdown.
• Homelessness prevention through education, life skills workshops and crisis support.

About Nightstop

Nightstop provides emergency accommodation in the homes of trained and approved volunteer hosts. Rather than spending the night on the streets or in unsafe situations, young people are offered a temporary, safe place to stay while our team works to find appropriate longer-term accommodation and support.

As a Volunteer Nightstop Host, you'll never be working alone. Our experienced team provides ongoing guidance and support throughout every placement.

What You'll Do

As a Nightstop Host, you'll:

• Provide a clean, safe and private bedroom for a young person needing emergency overnight accommodation.
• Offer an evening meal, breakfast and a packed lunch.
• Give access to bathroom facilities and laundry if needed.
• Stay in regular contact with the Nightstop team before, during and after placements.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while providing a welcoming environment.

Placements are short-term and arranged around your availability.

About the Role

Portsmouth Cathedral's Fabric Advisory Committee (FAC) is seeking to recruit two new members to join the existing committee which has expertise in architecture, planning, art, design, and conservation.  We are looking for people with extensive experience and sound judgement who can advise within a complex organisation.  Applications are particularly welcome from those with liturgical, architectural, museum or heritage backgrounds.

The FAC is responsible to the Cathedrals Fabric Commission for England (CFCE) for the care, conservation and development of the Cathedral and forms part of the planning application for the Grade 1 listed building and its immediate precinct (The Cathedral Green).

As a member of FAC your role will be vital in the oversight of the overall development, conservation and maintenance of the Cathedral building and precinct.   Appointees will, as appropriate, provide determination on applications and advise the Cathedral Chapter (the governing body of a cathedral) in line with the statutory responsibility of the Committee under the Care of Cathedrals Measure, remaining true to the values of the Cathedral and its role as a living place of worship. 

Term of Office
Members are appointed for up to five years with the option for reappointment.  All members are re-appointed every five years.  The current Quinquennial runs until 2031.

Time Commitment
FAC meets a minimum of three times a year. Meetings are normally held on mornings in October, February and May in person but with an online option. The committee will need to work more regularly when major capital works or repairs are planned. Ad hoc meetings and support through working groups and/or support to the executive team may be required.

Remuneration

Membership of FAC is an unpaid role.  Reasonable travel and out of pocket expenses will be paid in accordance with the Cathedral’s Expenses policy.

Safeguarding

The Cathedral takes the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults very seriously, and practices Safer Recruitment for all roles (both paid and voluntary). Members of our committees are expected to undertake any safeguarding training provided by the Church of England and Diocese pertinent to their role and the Cathedral records and manages the checks and courses taken to ensure that training is refreshed as required.

We are committed to ensuring our committees are diverse and representative of the community we serve. There is no requirement to be a Christian, but appointees should be able to understand the ethos and structures of the Church of England, and work in sympathy with the Cathedral’s mission.

 Purpose of the Role

As a Corporate Fundraising Volunteer for unpaid carers, you will play a key part in helping Carers Trust Hillingdon & Ealing secure funding that enables us to continue and expand our vital services for unpaid carers across the borough.

Your support will directly contribute to improving the quality of life for carers by enabling new services, resources, and opportunities. Aim of this role
Assessor volunteers support the drop-in sessions in our offices and outreach. They discuss with clients the issues they have come to us for help with. After this (and with full support from the supervisor), assessors discuss next steps and actions with the client to help resolve their issues.

As an Assessor, you will be a part of the service delivery. You will:

• complete an induction to Citizens Advice and training for your role

• help with the drop-in sessions

• complete full assessments with our clients, following CAML processes and procedures

• record a summary of your interactions with clients in our Case Management System and consult with the Supervisor on the day regarding the relevant next steps

• ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion are promoted in our work

• adhere to Citizens Advice Merton and Lambeth’s aims and principles

• maintain all relevant GDPR rules and regulations

Commitment
This role requires you attend our offices or outreach locations in person.

Our offices are open to the public from 9.30am to 3pm, five days a week. During your training, you are required to contribute at least one day in one of our offices and Wednesdays each week for online training. After your training is completed, you required to attend one of our offices at least one full day per week in office. Ideally we ask for a commitment to volunteer with CAML for at least 12 months.

The role in a nutshell:

As a Community Connector Volunteer, you will help Age UK Barnet reduce loneliness and isolation by building a short-term but meaningful relationship with an older person.

What will you be doing?

You will meet an older person you’ve been matched with once a week over a six-month period to support them in working towards their goals. Depending on their needs, you may:
•Visit them at home
•Go for a walk
•Meet in a local community space, such as a library or a café
•Help them access local groups or services
•Encourage them to build positive and sustainable connections
•To support with digital inclusion.
• Assist with planning and arranging journeys using public transport, helping to overcome barriers to travel and independence 
•Accompany clients to social, recreational, or community-based activities

You will keep track of their progress and share updates with the Enabling Connections coordinator.

As a Community Connector Volunteer, we ask you to:

•Attend an induction session
•Complete essential training, including goal‑setting and safeguarding
•Have access to one‑to‑one check in calls. 

Receive support from a dedicated project coordinator

You may need to travel locally to meet the older person or accompany them to services, and any travelling expenses can be reimbursed.

You will also be asked to take brief notes after each session and share them with your project coordinator.

We are looking for volunteers to help with our social media. We want to massively improve and increase our content from TikTok to You Tube. So much goes into social media from the physical filming and scripts to making the small everyday promotional posts to bigger videos, editing and posting them. We need people to help with every aspect of social media  But don’t panic we are not asking one person to do all of this! So keep reading....

Who are we looking for?

• Somebody who is fun loving
• Be creative. Content creation is all about being creative.
• Knowledge or willingness to research algorithms and social media trends.
• Willing to learn or has knowledge of editing and posting videos
• Enjoy building online community
• No previous experience is necessary but a willingness to learn is essential.

As an Outreach Volunteer, you will help raise awareness of the Beacon Partnership and the support we provide to individuals and the local community. You will play an important role in helping people learn about our services, activities, events and volunteering opportunities. 

This is a friendly, community-focused role that is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting people, communicating with others and getting involved in local activities. 

South East London Mind is excited to be recruiting for committed volunteer telephone counsellors for our Mindline service.

The Mindline and Crisis Counselling Service in Greenwich has been supporting people for approximately 35 years. The service aims to reduce risk to people in crisis, to strengthen people’s ability to manage emotional difficulties and mental distress, and to seek to prevent people being admitted to hospital. It is highly valued in the community both by those that use the service and those who signpost people to this support.

Telephone support via Mindline is available Monday to Saturday. This includes 4 evenings during the week, and Saturday mornings.

This important role will work under the support and guidance of both our Mindline day and evening coordinators to provide telephone support to those who call the service. You will provide emotional support and, where necessary, signpost callers to more appropriate services to meet their needs.

We ask that our volunteer telephone counsellors commit to an extensive 6 weeks training once a week, undertake a period of shadowing experienced telephone counsellors before being able to take on the role with confidence. We then ask that you commit to a minimum of one 3-hour session each week for at least 1 year.

Successful applicants will be expected to undergo an Enhanced Level Disclosure and Barring Service check.
