Our Communications Officers are responsible for sharing the incredible work of North West First Responder Group with the public, volunteers, partners and supporters. From celebrating volunteer achievements to promoting fundraising campaigns and community events, you'll help ensure our message reaches the people who need to hear it.

What you'll do

As a Communications Officer, you may:

• Create engaging content for our social media platforms.
• Capture photos and videos at events and community activities.
• Write news articles, volunteer stories and website content.
• Design graphics and promotional materials using platforms such as Canva.
• Help manage and grow our online presence.
• Support marketing campaigns, fundraising appeals and awareness initiatives.
• Assist with media enquiries and press releases where required.
• Ensure our branding and communications remain professional and consistent.

You'll work closely with our Communications Team and wider charity to showcase the impact of our volunteers across the North West.

• Confident using social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok.
• Able to write clear, engaging content for a variety of audiences.

Previous communications or marketing experience is welcome but not essential. If you have enthusiasm, creativity and a willingness to learn, we'll provide the support you need.

Burning Nights CRPS Support is seeking a passionate and creative Content Lead Volunteer to help shape and deliver engaging content that raises awareness of a rare chronic pain condition, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), supports those impacted and strengthens our charity’s voice across multiple platforms.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity to guide and inspire a team of volunteer content writers, oversee content planning and development, and play a key role in delivering our communications strategy. From website articles and member publications to awareness campaigns and digital content, your work will help ensure that people living with CRPS, their families, healthcare professionals and supporters have access to high-quality, accurate and engaging information.

As a national charity supporting thousands of people affected by CRPS across the UK, we are looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with a hands-on approach, has excellent communication skills, and is passionate about making a real difference.

Key Tasks and Objectives

• Lead a team of content writer volunteers.
• Lead and co-ordinate internal projects, activities and campaigns that help build awareness of our organisation and its aims.
• Building, leading and inspiring the content team, ensuring goals are agreed and communicated to support the achievement of our overall aims and projects.
• Ensuring all content is on-brand, consistent in style, quality, and tone of voice, and ideally optimised for search and user experience across channels, including our website, our members' magazine, and social media.
• Supporting the development of a communications strategy from the 3-year charity's strategy, focusing on the content section.
• The implementation of a functional content calendar
• Establishing workflow for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and repurposing content
• Operate as the point of contact for content volunteers in the team.
• To also be an active part of the content team as a content writer.
• Identifying, initiating and leading on content projects which align to the strategy and realise our goals.
• Collaborate with the team
• To contribute to the Annual Report or other reporting documents.
• Protecting our charity brand identity, ensuring it is delivered consistently, both internally and externally.
• Promote the charity across all our channels and forms of communication.
• Ensure effective, regular communication to both internal and external audiences.
• Support the review of progress and effectiveness of the Communications Strategy on an annual basis.

Voluntary Action Camden (VAC) is seeking a dedicated Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. This is a pivotal role, ensuring our charity remains financially secure while continuing to move in the right strategic direction. Our Edinburgh Marchmont Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

Perinatal Support Volunteers provide one-to-one support to parents during pregnancy and up to nine months after the birth. These parents either have mental health issues or are at risk of developing them.

Perinatal Support Volunteers visit these families once a week (usually weekdays during working hours) for 2-3 hours, providing emotional support and practical help in the family’s home or local community. Support is aimed at empowering parents and building resilience beyond the support period.

The type of support Perinatal Support Volunteers provide to parents may include:

• An empathetic and non-judgemental listening ear
• Support to prepare for parenthood
• Support to build confidence in parenting skills
• Support to develop a positive relationship with their infant
• Support to establish daily and weekly routines
• Support to take time for self-care
• Support to manage the things that are causing stress
• Support to access relevant services
• Support to access local green spaces
• Support to make connections with other parents

No special qualifications are necessary to become a Perinatal Support Volunteer, but Home-Start volunteers are usually either parents or grandparents themselves, or people with experience of young children and family life. We particularly welcome volunteers with lived experience of perinatal mental health challenges.

Become an Independent Visitor to be matched one to one with a young person in care. You will meet once or twice a month to take them out to do fun activities together. This is an opportunity for our young people to develop a healthy relationship with a trusted adult, have fun and share their worries and feelings if they are ready to do so.

We'll provide full training, all your expenses and ongoing support from dedicated staff. 

This is an opportunity for you to build skills and knowledge within social care and test yourself with real life experience of a young person in care.

3. Build Our Visual Library

Create a unique, high-quality collection of images and short video clips that we can use across our website, publicity materials, social media, and fundraising campaigns.

Help us visually communicate the reality of loneliness — and the hope, positivity, and transformation that SUNSHINE brings.

5. Support Our Digital Presence

Work with our marketing volunteers to produce short clips, reels, TikToks, and social-ready visuals that raise our profile and inspire people to join us.

SUNSHINE Charity

Shining a light on loneliness

Become an Independent Visitor to be matched one to one with a young person in care. You will meet once or twice a month to take them out to do fun activities together. This is an opportunity for our young people to develop a healthy relationship with a trusted adult, have fun and share their worries and feelings if they are ready to do so.

We'll provide full training, all your expenses and ongoing support from dedicated staff. 

This is an opportunity for you to build skills and knowledge within social care and test yourself with real life experience of a young person in care.

We're looking for enthusiastic, committed people to bring their experience, skills and positivity to the lives of young people who have been through tough times. We will be providing training on the following subjects.

You'll be raising awareness, & improving understanding of sight loss through delivering RNIB’s Awareness to Action sessions in your local community. Through these engaging sessions, you'll inspire participants to make small changes to their behaviour that make a massive difference in the day-to-day lives of people with sight loss. As a Community Change Champion, this will involve:

• Talking directly with community leaders, businesses, & local groups about ways they can get involved & inviting them to join an Awareness to Action session.
• Delivering RNIB’s Awareness to Action sessions either in person or online, using our resources. You may do this on your own or with a team of other local volunteers, both sighted and with sight loss.
• Sharing RNIB’s information & initiatives so people know we’re here for them.
• If you have a personal link to sight loss, sharing your experience during the session to help give a tangible example of how local people can make a real difference.
• Telling us about any activities you have engaged in via a Microsoft form.

What will you gain from the role?
• First-hand experience in grassroots community engagement & charity outreach.

We're setting up a new telephone group which will offer blind and partially sighted people living with DREC the opportunity to socialise with one another each week and we're looking for someone to facilitate the group. The right person will have have personal or professional experience of DREC, will be a good listener who is able to manage group conversations and will have the skills to enable people to feel comfortable in a social group environment.

This is a telephone-based role that you can do from home. You will need access to a landline and/or mobile phone. We ask you to commit to 1-2 hours per week to facilitate one group session, which will take place at the same day and time each week.

You will be the link between the group participants and the RNIB Talk and Support team and will:

• Listen to the group conversation and ensure it flows and that all conversations are appropriate;
• Make appropriate contributions as and when required to stimulate conversation;
• Create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere thus encouraging all participants to feel comfortable taking part;
• Report any Safeguarding concerns or data breaches to the Talk & Support staff team.

What happens next?

After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).

OVERALL PURPOSE

We are seeking a motivated & experienced Volunteer Recruitment Administrator to join our charity. As a key member of our Human Resources team, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end recruitment process, ensuring the acquisition of talented individuals passionate about our mission. Your expertise will contribute to building a dedicated and skilled workforce, enabling us to impact the community positively. This role offers a unique opportunity to utilise your HR recruitment skills for a meaningful cause while gaining valuable experience in the non-profit sector.

You will play a key role in working towards our mission to recruit outstanding individuals who will work with us to transform the lives of disadvantaged women and families living in Wolverhampton.

Key responsibilities for this Volunteer Recruitment Administrator are:

•  To act as a point of enquiry for information, advice and support for prospective volunteers.
•  To assist in screening, sourcing and shortlisting all CV’s for active vacancies.
•  Assist with the recruitment process, including job postings, screening applicants, and coordinating interviews.
•  Support the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.
• Help maintain and update employee records, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
•  To provide administrative support to the volunteer coordinator by updating job descriptions, coordinating & setting up interviews.
• To create and maintain documentation and records for recruitment.
•  To build positive relationships with relevant stakeholders in order to attract high quality applicants.
•  To explore innovative attraction methods to increase awareness of our volunteer programme amongst new audiences, particularly to those who are underrepresented on our programme.
•  To follow up volunteer interest and enquiries in a timely manner, encouraging application to an appropriate role.

Person Specification

What you will need as Volunteer Recruitment Administrator:

•  A good level of education, strong administration experience along with good IT literacy including Outlook, Word & Excel.
•  A background in recruitment would be a huge bonus!
•  The ability to prioritise your day, work at a fast pace and meet deadlines.
•  Great communication skills
•  We have some great technology to support you, so you will need to have a good understanding of systems and MS Office applications
