The Events Officer oversees chapter events, ensuring they run smoothly from start to finish. You’ll manage event requests, coordinate volunteers, support Lead Volunteers, and follow up on post-event tasks such as social media, hours tracking, and costume returns. Strong organisation, communication, and teamwork skills are essential to keep events engaging and well-staffed.

Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

Time expectation

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Volunteer Photographer – London Marathon (Sense Charity)

Are you passionate about photography and capturing inspiring moments? Join Sense, a leading disability charity, as a Volunteer Photographer at the Manchester Marathon on Sunday, 26th April 2026!

You’ll play a key role in celebrating our amazing Sense runners — snapping action shots, cheering them on, and helping us tell the story of connection, determination and inclusion. Your images will not only give our runners lasting memories but may also feature on our website and social media to inspire future supporters.

What you’ll do:

• Capture photos of Sense runners throughout the marathon
• Edit and share a selection of your best shots for use across our channels
• Cheer on our participants and bring positive energy to the day

Success in this role means managing a team of social media contributors, ensuring content quotas are met, and maintaining the quality and consistency of our published materials. You’ll oversee various content initiatives, from social media to newsletters and blogs, and provide guidance on ad hoc website content updates. Commitment

This role is currently volunteer-based, and we are seeking a commitment of 5-10 hours per week. We are looking for somebody to join us long-term but are open to shorter-term applicants

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the social media team, ensuring monthly posting quotas are met and content aligns with our overarching strategy.
• Generate and refine content ideas in collaboration with the team to maintain engaging, impactful, and relevant messaging across platforms.
• Copyedit and approve the short monthly newsletter and occasional blog posts produced by the research team.
• Oversee and assist with miscellaneous content-related projects, including updates and improvements to website content.
• Monitor performance metrics across platforms to identify areas for improvement and inform future content strategies.

Desired Skills

• Proven experience in content strategy, editorial leadership, or a similar role.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Experience managing teams or working collaboratively across multiple contributors.

• Help de-escalate conflicts and maintain a positive and supportive community atmosphere.

• Support community engagement by encouraging discussion, highlighting useful content, or helping to facilitate events or activities where appropriate.

• Report safeguarding, wellbeing, or rule concerns to the appropriate team member.

• Assist with general server upkeep, such as managing channels, roles, or pinned information where required.

Skills and Experience:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to remain calm, fair, and professional when managing disagreements or sensitive situations.

• Good understanding of online community safety and respectful communication.

• Confidence using Discord, including moderation tools and features (or willingness to learn).

• Ability to follow community guidelines, policies, and confidentiality expectations.

• Experience moderating online communities is helpful but not always essential.

• Lived experience of Autism and or Parenting will be helpful

Role Summary:

The Marketing Lead will lead Australia's marketing strategy, driving brand growth and
customer engagement. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of marketing,
including brand development, digital marketing, campaign management, market research,
and customer experience. As a key member of the team, the Marketing Lead will work
closely with cross-functional teams to position Roots as a leader in the Islamic Education
industry while ensuring all marketing efforts align with our mission and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Marketing Leadership:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to achieve organisational goals, including brand awareness, lead generation, and customer retention.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and risks.
• Brand Management & Positioning:
  • Strengthen the organisation’s brand identity and ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
  • Lead efforts to position the brand as an industry leader, driving differentiation and competitive advantage
• Campaign Planning & Execution:
  • Oversee the creation and execution of marketing campaigns across digital, print, and traditional channels
  • Measure campaign effectiveness, optimising performance and ROI.
• Team Development:
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing marketing team.
  • Foster a collaborative, creative, and results-driven environment.
• Content Development:
  • Develop a media strategy that includes high-quality photography and videography to enhance brand storytelling.
  • Oversee the production of visual content for social media, advertisements, websites, and events.
  • Ensure all media content aligns with brand identity and marketing goals.

Preferred Experience:

• Marketing & Branding
  • Some experience in digital marketing, social media, or event promotion.
  • Basic knowledge of social media management, and content creation.
• Involvement with MSAs or ISOCs
  • Experience with Muslim Student Associations (MSAs) as a member, volunteer, or organizer.
  • Comfortable engaging with Muslim communities and student networks.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Marketing Skills: Proven expertise in brand strategy, digital marketing, and campaign management.
• Innovative: Demonstrated ability to drive growth through innovative and data-driven marketing strategies
• Community-Oriented: A deep understanding of the Muslim community in Australia, especially in relation to university students and local mosques.
• Relationship Building: Proven experience in building and maintaining meaningful relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
• Project Management: Strong organisational skills with the ability to support program delivery efficiently.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences, from students to community leaders.
