The Befriender 'In Home' Volunteer will play an important role by providing companionship to someone we support at our supported living service by spending time with them, visiting them in the home and doing activities they enjoy. These might include chatting over a cup of tea, reading books, playing board games, etc.

Communications Team Lead (Volunteer)

We are seeking a creative and experienced Communications Team Lead to play a vital role in raising awareness of the mission of Bounds Green Food Bank and drive donations. They will be responsible for leading a team of volunteers and assisting the team in coming up with creative ways to spread the word of the food bank.
 

About Bounds Green Food Bank: 

Open since June 2020, we serve over 4,600 children and adults in the community. We are committed to improving lives by providing food and essential household items to build a healthy, hunger-free tomorrow. We strive to promote social inclusion by supporting people who find themselves in a crisis situation where they need assistance to feed themselves and their families.

The role: 

• Create and lead on communication campaigns and initiatives to raise funds, recruit volunteers and promote our impact

• Manage a fantastic Communications Team of remote volunteers with specific roles (social media, website management, business partnership, graphics and community liaison), providing guidance and managing workload

• Work closely with the Fundraising Lead to create effective fundraising campaigns through newsletters, social media, flyers, events and our website.

• Liaise with the other team leads via a group chat and occasional team meetings, staying up to date with changes across the charity and providing input from the Comms Team

Person specification: 

• Previous experience in marketing, communications, or related fields preferred.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate and inspire a team of volunteers.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

About this key role

As a Peer Volunteer, you will increase client engagement with drug and alcohol treatment services by providing vital peer-led support and building trust and motivation among a client group that has been historically disengaged/not offered support previously.  You will provide holistic, short-term intervention to bridge the gap between referral and full treatment engagement, capture client experiences and barriers to improve service design and accessibility and develop a strong service user voice to inform future service improvements.

Areas of support from Peer Volunteers may also include initial engagement and motivation such as welcome calls, check-ins, peer-led conversations and motivational chats over coffee.  You may also offer practical support such as appointment reminders, transport assistance and paperwork support, plus help to build positive routines such as activity-based engagement and supporting small lifestyle changes, including meal planning, budgeting, and time management.

What we are looking for

• Personal experience of the criminal justice system or lived experience of the issues facing this client group (i.e. experience of substance misuse and recovery)
• Proven experience of working in a high intensity environment, being self-motivating, with an ability to effectively manage your own wellbeing
• Knowledge of the issues facing those arrested for potential criminal offences
• Knowledge of, and commitment to, safeguarding practices and policies
• The ability to use monitoring systems to record all aspects of the work
• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, verbal and written.

Triple Skillz Charity is a Leicestershire-based organisation working with young people who are at real risk of entering the criminal justice system. We exist to intervene early — building confidence, developing skills, and helping young people move towards employment, education, and away from crime and criminal associations. We receive no statutory funding, which means our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.

We are currently recruiting volunteer mentors for our Aspire Project.

About the role

As an Aspire Project Mentor, you will be matched with a young person and work alongside a co-mentor to provide consistent, supportive, and positive adult presence in their life — sometimes for the first time. You will meet with your mentee on a weekly basis for up to 2 hours, for a period of around 12 months, helping them to identify their goals and work towards them.

You will support your mentee with their confidence, self-esteem, and personal development; help them to think through choices around education, employment, and relationships; and be a reliable, steady presence they can turn to when facing difficult situations.

You do not need any specific qualifications or professional background. What matters most is that you are reliable, consistent, and genuinely committed to making a difference.

What we will provide

Full training and induction before you begin, covering mentoring skills, safeguarding, and health and safety. Ongoing support from your project co-ordinator throughout. An enhanced DBS check will be required.

The evidence is clear — having a consistent, supportive adult in a young person's life can have a profound impact. If we help keep just one young person out of custody, we save around £250,000 and, far more importantly, we help change the course of a life.

Living With Hope CIC is seeking a strong Partnerships & Referral Lead to help build meaningful relationships with charities, funders, community organisations, referral partners and aligned service providers.

We provide safe accommodation and structured support for individuals escaping or recovering from domestic abuse. Our mission is to restore stability, dignity and opportunity.

This is not a passive advisory role.

We are looking for someone who can help identify, build and strengthen partnerships that lead to referrals, funding opportunities, service collaboration and long-term organisational growth.

The role will involve:

• Identifying charities, community organisations and referral partners aligned with our mission
• Helping build relationships with domestic abuse services, faith groups, funders and support organisations
• Supporting referral pathway development and partnership conversations
• Helping create partnership packs, outreach messages and collaboration proposals
• Supporting introductions to relevant organisations and stakeholders
• Helping identify grant, sponsorship and funding opportunities
• Ensuring partnership activity leads to measurable outcomes such as referrals, funding, credibility or service growth

We’re looking for a patient and kind volunteer to support an active and energetic man in Streatham. He’ll take some time to get to know you, so you’re first few visits will likely be spent going for walks around the local area with a member of his support team. This gentleman is non-verbal and will communicate with you through sounds, gestures and movements.

He takes a little while to warm up to new people, so you will need to be patient while he takes his time becoming comfortable with you. It would be great if his new volunteer had some experience with people with learning disabilities, though this isn’t at all necessary as long as you have a positive attitude. It’s important to know that his care team would always be on hand, and that his not-so-secret kryptonite is chocolate!

We offer a lifelong befriending service for adults with learning disabilities. Matching the skills and interests of passionate visitors with the specific hobbies and interests of the people we visit. Visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing. In many cases, the visitor is the only person in someone’s life who isn’t paid to be there for them.

This is a Stop and Stay visit role, meaning that the person you’ll be visiting might have some verbal communication skills or they use sounds and/or facial/body expressions to communicate with you. The person you visit might choose to take part in simple activities or watch you doing the activities. Your volunteer manager will be happy to help you with ideas and suggestions for things you can do. Visits will vary in length but tend to be around half an hour to an hour long.

In this role you will spend quality time with the person you visit and could do a range of different activities like:

• Sitting and having a chat
• Checking in on their well- being
• A craft activity at home
• Reading a book/magazine together

CARA is looking for a female Advocacy Volunteer to support our Advocacy Co-ordinator in providing advocacy support to victims and survivors of any kind of sexual violence. You would have an allocated case load, and work would include support around housing, finances, health, domestic abuse and other issues. The volunteer will be line-managed by CARA’s Advocacy Manager and will work alongside the very friendly CARA team.

Our Advocacy team support CARA’s clients with a wide range of advocacy issues. The main tasks are to hold a small caseload and support victims and survivors of sexual violence with:

· Accessing benefits, including filling in forms.

· Accessing services, including mental health, housing and legal services, and accompanying to appointments, if necessary.

· Providing and signposting to financial support and debt advice.

· Accessing appropriate support at school / college/work.

· Emotional support, including aspects of self-care strategies and psycho education.

· Providing occasional support for CARA’s face to face and/or online social group
