Job Description:

The Women & Families Resource Centre (WFRC) is a registered charity based in Wolverhampton which supports, empowers and advocates for women and children. We aim to actively encourage women to be self-reliant, through empowering them to identify their own needs, make their own choices and create their own solutions.
We offer short term home visits, counselling sessions, baby bank, practical & emotional One to One support, Domestic violence groups, Awareness raising workshops and drop in or chat groups to help women facing crises or challenging situations.

Purpose
To manage and grow our social media presence through creative content, audience engagement, and analysing audience engagement to help amplify WFRC’s mission.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Help create, implement, and maintain a social media strategy and content plan
• Use social media platforms to promote the activities, impact, and achievements of WFRC
• Keep social media channels regularly updated with engaging and relevant content
• Encourage audience interaction by increasing comments, shares, and engagement across platforms
• Ensure communications reach a wide range of local stakeholders and diverse audiences
• Develop and manage content for our website and social media platforms, including Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube
• Identify and select the most effective channels to engage our diverse audiences
• Stay up to date with WFRC events, projects, and news, identifying key opportunities for promotion across social media channels
• Develop publicity materials and communication approaches to better engage underrepresented communities
• Visit projects and attend events to gather content and write articles or stories for our blog and online platforms
• Manage the organisation, filing, and archiving of photographs, videos, and other digital media content

Qualifications:

• Experience managing social media accounts for a charity, organisation, business, personal project, or student initiative is preferred.
• Familiarity with social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X/Twitter, and YouTube.
• Experience using content creation and design tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Express, or similar platforms is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to create engaging content for diverse audiences.
• Creative thinking skills with the ability to develop new ideas, campaigns, and promotional content.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with staff, volunteers, and community members.
• Interest or experience in community work, charities, or social impact initiatives is desirable.
• A passion for our mission and a commitment to helping us increase our impact and strengthen community engagement.

Adventures for Animals was established as a fundraising initiative of IAPWA to empower passionate individuals to explore the world whilst changing it for animals in need. Every trek, climb, and challenge helps fund IAPWA’s vital rescue, rehabilitation, vaccination and community outreach programmes. Volunteer Role Overview

We’re looking for a creative and reliable Volunteer Social Media Assistant to help grow and maintain our online presence. This is a flexible, fully remote volunteer role ideal for someone passionate about animal welfare, adventure, travel, and digital storytelling.

While the role does not involve travel itself, we’re looking for someone who enjoys the adventure and travel space and can help bring that energy into engaging social media content whilst integrating some of the animal welfare stories from IAPWA.

The position is designed to fit around your schedule, with an expectation of approximately 2 posts or reels per week.

Responsibilities

• Create and schedule engaging social media content for Instagram and Facebook
• Design simple graphics, reels, captions, and stories aligned with our brand and mission
• Help maintain a consistent social media presence
• Source and repurpose existing content where appropriate
• Write captions that encourage engagement and awareness around animal welfare and adventure-related topics
• Engage with and grow our online community and increase overall reach

Independent Visitor Volunteer 

Our Independent Visitor Volunteers provide consistent and supportive relationships to children ad young people in care, offering emotional support, companionship, and guidance through shared activities and time together.The Independent Visitor plays a vital role in helping the young people build confidence and feel secure while enhancing their personal, social, and cultural development. 

As an Independent Visitor Volunteer in England, you might: 

• support the child/young person to experience enriching activities that contribute to their personal and cultural development

• engage in activities such as pursuing hobbies, meeting for meals, or socialising in a community setting

• listen to and support the young person, fostering a sense of safety and trust

• help the young person develop social skills and increase their involvement in their community

• develop a positive and lasting relationship, ensuring the young person feels valued and supported 

You will need to be over 18 years old and be living in the UK. Please note that the Independent Visitor Volunteers generally volunteer at evening and weekends due to the children’s and young person’s availability.

About Us

Age UK Buckinghamshire is a local, independent charity and part of the wider Age UK Network. We support older people across the county through vital services including befriending, information and advice, dementia support, practical help at home, and welfare benefits support - helping people stay independent, connected, and supported.

Our work is more important now than ever. Many older people face growing challenges such as the rising cost of living, social isolation, and difficulty accessing support. 

As demand for our services continues to increase, community support is essential to help us reach more people in need. What do Welfare Benefits Volunteers do?

Help older people boost their income by becoming a Welfare Benefits Volunteer.

Many older people face financial difficulties because they are not claiming all the welfare benefits they are entitled to. At Age UK Buckinghamshire, we support older people to access the benefits they deserve by offering personalised advice and practical help.

Our trained volunteer advisors visit people in their own homes to guide them through the claims process, completing benefit forms on their behalf and ensuring applications reflect their individual circumstances.

Following full training, you will be matched with clients for one-off home visits, usually lasting one to two hours. Along the way, there’s often time for a friendly chat, and perhaps a cup of tea, while making a real difference to someone’s quality of life.

What skills does a Welfare Benefits Advisor need?

• Empathy and patience with older people
• A professional, friendly and approachable manner
• Attention to detail and good record-keeping skills
• A non-judgemental approach
• Willingness to learn about older people’s benefits

What training do we provide?

Successful applicants complete 2 training sessions covering the needs of older people and welfare benefits.  At the end of this initial training, you will be “buddied” with one or more experienced volunteers, first as an observer and later as an advisor until you have the knowledge and confidence to undertake one-to-one visits.

How much time do we expect you to give?

Once trained, you can commit to as many or as few visits per week as you wish. Each visit takes, on average, about 1 – 2 hours.  There are quarterly meetings that provide support and additional training days from time to time to keep up with new legislation.

What is our commitment to you?

• We will provide initial and ongoing training to help you develop your knowledge and skills.
• We will continue to support you in your role, providing information and advice as necessary.
• We will discuss with you any problems you may have with your role, or any concerns we have.
• We will reimburse reasonable, approved out of pocket expenses.

This is an exciting time to lead Age UK Stockport’s Board. To be the Chair of Age UK Stockport is to be an active volunteer in our community. But it’s not the easiest volunteering role! It can be challenging, but it will be rewarding.

Our Board has recently been refreshed after the recruitment of three new trustees who, alongside our established trustees, complete the Board membership.

Our current Chair will be standing down later this year having served the maximum term for the role. We are looking for a dedicated, creative person, with a range of appropriate professional and life experiences to become our next Chair. They will have the interest and commitment to lead and drive forward the development of Age UK Stockport in line with our core values – to be Connected, Confident and Creative.

The successful candidate would join the Board as trustee and Chair Designate and then be elected Chair at the AGM in the autumn of 2026.

The Chair leads the Board, ensuring that it governs the charity effectively. You will support the Board to work together well and will manage and support the Chief Executive. The Chair is also an ambassador for the charity. 

Main responsibilities of the Chair

• Provide strategic leadership to the charity and the Board, ensuring effective governance and accountability
• Work in partnership with trustees, the Chief Executive and staff / volunteer team to achieve Age UK Stockport’s mission, vision and objectives
• Plan and chair the Board meetings and the AGM working with others to achieve this
• Act as a spokesperson and figurehead for Age UK Stockport
• Ensure Board meetings are properly run and recorded
• Represent Age UK Stockport externally, helping, with others, to build partnerships with funders, local / regional authorities, and community organisations
• With others, ensure the charity remains financially sustainable and operationally strong, delivering excellence for people in later life
• Recognise and make best use of trustees’ skills and experience
• Line manage the Chief Executive on behalf of the trustees

• Create social media posts in line with our brand tone: inclusive, warm, and sensitive to the subject of bereavement
• Schedule and post updates about weekly peer support meetings and events
• Help plan simple campaigns or awareness posts around key dates (Mental Health Awareness Week, Grief Awareness Week, World Suicide Prevention Day, etc.)
• Contribute creative ideas to help our mission reach more people online
• Communicate regularly with your coordinator and flag any challenges early

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!
