As a community engagement volunteer you and your fellow branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community to ensure that that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

This role is diverse and allows for you to focus on the areas that you have skills or interests in. The role has flexibility and can work around your other commitments.

• Promoting SSAFA Services - Help provide a warm, welcoming presence at Veterans Breakfast clubs, cafes or hubs - offering information about SSAFA services and signposting as appropriate.
• SSAFA Storytellers -Deliver engaging talks to organisations and groups, sharing SSAFA’s incredible history and mission.
• Community Connectors - Collaborating with the Community Engagement Manager to establish a local network, promote SSAFA's services, and respond to community opportunities such as gardening projects.
• Fundraising Heroes - Whether it’s rallying local businesses, organising events, or getting creative with unique fundraising ideas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping SSAFA’s support going strong.
• Administrators - Are you detail-oriented and love keeping things organised? Assist with branch and event administration, manage schedules and branch calendars, and ensure everything runs smoothly currently being undertaken.

• Confident to engage with the public, potential clients, volunteers and SSAFA colleagues face-to-face.
• Reliable attitude, staying connected with your Branch and/or Community Engagement Manager about your availability.
• Access to public transport or a car to get to events if necessary.

Our shops generate funds that directly support the whole family, from medical care and therapeutic services for children, to emotional and practical care for families, to sibling support activities & experiences.

Your role will help us continue providing vital care and support to Tŷ Hafan children and their families.

About our Cwmbran Shop:

Our Cwmbran shop has been open since 1997 and has consistently been one of our top performing shops.

The shop is in a great location in Cwmbran Shopping Centre, ensuring the shop gets the footfall and the stock donations.

Though in an ideal location, the hard work of the management team and the loyal volunteer team is the key to the success of the shop.

Considerations:

Age requirement: 16+

Location: 5 General Rees Square, Cwmbran NP44 1AH  

Commitment:Our shops operate Monday-Saturday, 9am-4:45pm and we appreciate any time you can spare, but ideally at least 2 hours per week.

Shifts will be discussed during your informal chat.

Background checks: We will ask you to provide us with the details of two referees.

Activities include:

•  Sorting and pricing donations according to our guidelines (or your own knowledge if applicable);
•  Preparing items for sale, including steaming, ironing, tagging and labelling;
•  Moving items to the shop floor;
•  Keeping the stockroom clean and safe;
• Creating attractive displays to showcase our unique donations.

This role is purely voluntary and this arrangement is not meant to be a legally binding one or an employment contract.

Honorary Therapist Placements: London Schools & Specialist Trauma Service 

Are you a trainee or newly qualified therapist looking to develop your clinical practice within a highly specialist service? 

Respond is seeking honorary therapists to join our schools and clinic-based psychotherapy services supporting autistic people and people with learning disabilities who have experienced trauma, abuse and adversity. 

We welcome applications from trainees and newly qualified practitioners in counselling, psychotherapy, dramatherapy, dance movement psychotherapy and other creative arts therapies.

About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive volunteer to support the management and growth of our CoachActivism LinkedIn presence. This role focuses on maintaining a consistent posting rhythm, improving content quality, and increasing engagement with our audience.

Key Responsibilities
1. Content Planning

• Collaborate on creating a simple, consistent content plan
• Help identify relevant topics, themes, and messaging
• Plan for a sustainable cadence (starting with 1 post per week)

2. Content Scheduling & Posting

• Schedule and publish LinkedIn posts based on the agreed content plan
• Ensure posts are formatted clearly and consistently
• Maintain a regular posting cadence (1 post per week to start)

3. Content Optimization

• Edit and refine posts for clarity, tone, and engagement
• Improve hooks, structure, and readability
• Ensure alignment with CoachActivism voice and messaging

4. Engagement & Community Interaction

• Monitor comments and messages on the LinkedIn page
• Respond or flag relevant interactions for the team
• Engage with relevant content and communities to increase visibility

5. Performance Tracking & Insights

• Track basic performance metrics (reach, engagement, follower growth)
• Share simple insights and suggestions for improvement
• Help identify what content resonates most with the audience

Skills & Experience Required:

• Familiarity with LinkedIn
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Attention to detail and consistency
• Basic understanding of social media engagement

Nice to Have:

• Experience managing LinkedIn pages or social media accounts

Volunteering in our mental health services is a rewarding and varied opportunity for someone who is interested in working in this field. You will support by offering a listening ear and will offer individuals tailored mental health support, alongside our team of trained workers. We are looking for a volunteer to facilitate a Men’s group. The group provides a safe, welcoming place for people to meet, share experiences and support each other’s growth. We’d love to find a resident in Haringey, but this is not essential for the role.

You have a specialist knowledge and interest that means donations can be accurately valued, you can assess the condition of items accurately, ensuring only quality goods are put on sale.

No prior retail or online selling experience is needed, as we provide full training. If you’re open to learning, enjoy working with others, and have a passion for helping people, you’ll fit right in!

By volunteering with us in one of our amazing retail spaces you will be raising essential funds for Oxfam – all whilst learning new skills and meeting some incredible people.

What you will be doing

• Undertaking shop related tasks agreed with the Manager, for example:
• Selecting, sorting, and pricing donated stock.
• Chatting to customers who drop off donations and other members of the team.
• Preparing stock to be put out on the shop floor, ready for sale.
• Researching valuable, rare, antiquated and vintage stock.
• Photographing and listing items for the online shop.
• This role may include occasionally lifting boxes. We prioritise a safe working environment and provide comprehensive health and safety training to all volunteers.

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!
