What we need from you

This is a highly flexible role, and you can choose how you’d like to get involved. Opportunities include:

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping at fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, and monitoring collection tins
• Online fundraising – setting up online appeals and writing engaging cat case studies to maximise donations
• Marketing and promotion – spreading the word about fundraising activities via social media and local press
• Administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, and completing Gift Aid paperwork
• Championing our work – helping to develop new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement
• Photography – capturing images of cats in care, cats we’re helping, fundraising events, and all things Cats Protection

Time commitment

This role is flexible and designed to fit around your other commitments. You’ll be part of a friendly team raising vital funds — and having fun along the way.

What you will contribute

Administer holistic patient care to assigned patients and expect to care for both adults and children on a 20 bed open ward

Employ recent surgical experience in providing pre- and post-operative care to patients receiving maxillofacial, reconstructive plastic, general, obstetric fistula repair, gynecological or orthopedic surgery. Experience in one of these surgical specialties preferred

Partner with local Day Crew translators to provide culturally sensitive and compassionate care to patients

Coordinate patient care with the specialty Team Leaders, Charge Nurses, Hospitalist Physicians and Surgeons

For This Role, You Will Need

Successful completion of Mercy Ships On Boarding program will be required for commitments of 12 months or more

Registered Nurse with active license in home country; a minimum two years’ experience needed after licensure

Recent acute inpatient surgical/medical/Emergency Room experience of at least two years full-time or three years part-time in the past 5 years AND at the point of application can show working 30 hours or more per week in any of these clinical areas within the past 12 months

Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) optional

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with fluency in English

An ability to effectively work with others in a cross-cultural environment

Unfortunately this role cannot be used for as a placement and our mentee cannot be used as case studies.

Peer Mentors provide one-to-one short term emotional and practical support to people with mental health challenges in Camden, to help them regain their confidence and independence. This opportunity is for people to use their lived experience of mental health problems to help create a short term, supportive and understanding relationship with someone who requires support in the community. 

It’s about motivating and empowering the other person to identify their own issues and goals and helping them to find ways of resolving or reaching them – not by doing it for them, or expecting them to ‘do it the way I did it’, but by understanding and respecting different ways of working.

You will:

1. Work 1:1 with your mentee to identify & set short term realistic goals​ that would be helpful to their mental wellbeing
2. Work with them over 10 sessions to help them achieve them, maximum 20 weeks.​
3. Equip them with the tools and skills they need to continue longer term​
4. Provide a helping hand – refer mentees to other services in the local area, if appropriate.
5. Provide emotional and practical support as needed, which may include supporting mentee to find support that works for them in the community
6. Empower them to take an active part in their life choices

All volunteering will take place Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00.  You will need to be over 18 years old and be living in the UK. Please note that there is no opportunity to volunteer at weekends or in the evening.

We are seeking an organised and enthusiastic Volunteer Recruitment Officer to utilise their excellent administrative and personal skills to advertise for, shortlist and onboard new volunteers.

Location: Remote (although ability to join occasional face-to-face training and meetings in Bounds Green desirable)

About Bounds Green Food Bank: 

Open since June 2020, we serve over 4,600 children and adults in the community. We are committed to improving lives by providing food and essential household items to build a healthy, hunger-free tomorrow. We strive to promote social inclusion by supporting people who find themselves in crisis where they need assistance to feed themselves and their families.

The role: 

• Liaise with different team leads to create enticing job descriptions for new volunteer roles

• Post and manage volunteer adverts on different recruitment websites like Indeed, Charity Job and Third Sector Jobs

• Review applications and shortlist suitable applicants, which will include speaking with them to answer questions and collaborating with the relevant team lead to organise interviews or opportunities to visit us to learn more

• Update the database with applicant contact points and recruitment progress

• Support with onboarding new volunteers, e.g. ensuring they have completed the relevant registration forms, provided any necessary documents,and are able to join our on-line communities. 

Person specification: 

• Excellent written and verbal communication in English

• Fantastic organisational skills

• Experience in administrative or recruitment roles desirable but not essential

• Willing to learn about what we do and why, to engage applicants to join us

Volunteer and join our Board of Trustees and help strengthen support, awareness and long-term sustainability for people affected by Chronic Granulomatous Disorder (CGD) and their families. Please note this oppurunity to volunteer as a trustee is open to UK residents only. 

A range of backgrounds

It is great if you have skills or experience which you think would beuseful to support our board, but this is by no means a requirement.We’re looking for people who are enthusiastic about us doing good work for the community and committed to helping us see this mission through.

We provide a full induction and training to everyone who joins as a trustee, and we also encourage interested parties to attend a boardmeeting before joining so you can see how we work.

Commitment from you

Being a trustee is an official duty as they have joint legal control of the charity and are ultimately responsibly for making sure it’s doing what it was set up to do. The CGD Society is also a registered company in England & Wales, so our trustees are also directors for the purposes of company law.We expect the following of all of our trustees, committing around one hour of time per week:

1.To attend our board meetings, which occur via video conference every two months. 2.To keep in touch via email, through an official email address that we will provide for you, at a minimum of once per week.

Our board meetings occur 6 times a year, usually on a weekday evening, and we provide an agenda with reading material two weeks in advance. We ask all participants to read this material and come prepared with comments and questions. Every input is welcomed, debates are encouraged, and all views matter.

We try to host one meeting per year - our Annual General Meetingor AGM - in-person at a central location, to provide an opportunity for our team to meet face-to-face. We cover all travel expenses for trustees to attend these in-person if they are able to.

We also encourage our trustees to engage with one of our subcommittees, which are smaller groups overseeing specific areas of our work, such as our nursing service or financial governance.This is optional, as we recognise that not all of our trustees can spare the time to participate.

Our fundraising events organisers usually spend two to three hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer.

Cancer support chaity The Mulberry Centre is looking for an experienced qualified Yoga teacher who can offer ad-hoc cover as and when other regular Yoga volunteres are on holiday or sabbatical. There is also the oportunity to volunteer as a Yoga class demonstrator for us at community events.

This role is working therapeutically alongside a child/young person on one of our bereavement support programmes in a group setting.  Ideally you will have experience in working with children.

You will be working therapeutically with your allocated child.  You will have a group leader who will guide you through the structure of each day. There is also a program manager who will oversee and facilitate the whole weekend program.

You will also be expected to attend a debrief at the end of the weekend and also complete detailed documentation on the child/ young person you have been working with.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided during a weekend.  We will pay 45 pence per mile to cover your travel expenses. We will provide training (Safeguarding Children, Volunteer Induction Day and other specialist training days).

You will also have the opportunity to observe a weekend programme in action before you work with a child / young person. We will pay for your DBS check and provide you with a t-shirt with our logo on.

Volunteering in one of our shops not only makes a difference to those we care for, it will make a difference to your life too. In our vibrant, sociable shops you will find new friends, colleagues, whilst gaining a wealth of valuable experience and also bagging a bargain for yourself!

Our shop volunteers are an important part of the work we do at Princess Alice Hospice. On your local high streets, they help our shops turn takings directly into outstanding care.

Volunteer with us!

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, so most of the care that we provide is funded through fundraising and through our shops.

To help us to continue to provide the care that we do, we are looking for fun and enthusiastic volunteers to join us in our Acorns charity shops. Our shops are exciting and dynamic, with no two days being the same. From our walk-in customers, to receiving donations, and everything in between!

As a Shop Volunteer with us, you will be:

• Engaging with customers
• Accepting and sorting donated stock
• Pricing donations for sale
• Working on the till

Acocks Green shop is open Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sunday 9.30am to 4.30pm. You can volunteer the hours that suit you, but it would be great if you could support in the shop for at least 3 hours a week.

We are currently unable to accept any Duke of Edinburgh participants or individuals under the age of 18 at this time.

Support the work of St John Ambulance in your community by volunteering as a Community Volunteer, an exciting new role which is designed to revamp how volunteering looks in the modern world; flexible, innovative and is open for all.

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient. Community Volunteers can choose from a wide selection of activities – including fundraising, talks and demonstrations, supporting at events, volunteer welfare, social media and administration support.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives.

Give as much (or little) time as you can afford. With this new role, you simply volunteer when it works for you. That means you can give as much time as you like or as little as 24 hours across a whole year, whenever it suits you. What you can expect from SJA, and what we expect from those who volunteer with us, is included in the volunteer charter. Welcome Event - you will be invited to the network meetings as soon as you have been successful at the selection process.
